Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Tuesday QOTD: I know in the past few weeks we've talked about finding time to exercise and balancing everything we have going on. I saw a fun question in the last issue of Real Simple: What's the funniest, craziest or most embarrassing thing you've done to save time?

I have ironed my pants while wearing them

Hello all!

Back from our road trip to Portland and Seatlle. We drove a bit over 1,000 miles but I managed to weigh the same when I returned home! :cool1: I am very happy about that! I'm going to jump back in right here and not try to go back and catch up.

princessbride6205, I have enjoyed your questions and everyone's replies. :goodvibes

redwalker,, I am so sorry about your beloved dog. They are such faithful companions to us and we miss them so when they leave us behind.

jenanderson, have a great time on your impromptu WDW trip!

shannon, glad that you are feeling better.

donac, enjoy your spring break!

corinnak, congrats on three months of maintaining! :thumbsup2 I wanna be like you--oo-oo!

Tuesday QOTD: I know in the past few weeks we've talked about finding time to exercise and balancing everything we have going on. I saw a fun question in the last issue of Real Simple: What's the funniest, craziest or most embarrassing thing you've done to save time? And my own follow up, do you have any time-saving tips for the rest of us? How do you fit in preparing healthy meals, exercise, and "me" time?[/QUOTE]

Well, when my son was very little and I didn't have time to feed him before I took him to daycare we would have what I called "breakfast in a bag!" (But you have to say it in a happy, excited voice, like it is a good thing). It was a total "marketing" thing to make eating cereal out of a ziplock sound fun. In reality, I felt a little guilty because I was too rushed but in reality he doesn't remember and was happy at the time and that is what was important (even if I didn't realize it at the time ;)).

My tip for making time to make healthy meals, exercise and "me" time is more of a general one. Don't be afraid to be "selfish" and make what you need to happen, happen. You can't do all the things that you need to do and take care of others, if you don't take care of yourself first! :goodvibes

lecach, that must have been quite a feat ironing pants you were wearing! :rotfl:

Well... as you all know, I have been faced with ongoing setbacks/plateaus lately. But I try to keep reminding myself that I am FAR better off at my current weight than I was at 219 pounds (where I was a few years ago). Even if I NEVER LOSE another pound and NEVER hit my goal of 130, I am fit and healthy RIGHT NOW.

This is a great attitude, pjlla! :thumbsup2 You really have come so far in your journey and I know that you will get where you need to be. :hippie:

Have a great day everyone!

I'm not sure how funny, crazy or embarrassing this is. The only thing I can think of is I'm always in a huge hurry to get to and from yoga at work, so I tend to go in my fuzzy socks on "deep relaxation yoga" days. I hope no one is looking at my feet!

QOTD Monday:What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

Coming to the DIS is a huge help -- here you get great ideas for things to do, books and articles to read, and just general encouragement!

Sunday QOTD: This question is 2 parts and you can answer one or both. What is your favorite healthy food at WDW or DL? What is your favorite healthy food when dining out?

Assuming healthy is a relative term, my favorite healthy food at WDW is carrot cake cookies. When dining out in general, my favorite healthy choice is shrimp fajitas.

QOTD Saturday: What's your favorite exercise to do with others? Is there an exercise you get the whole family involved in?

I'm really more of a "solo" exerciser, but I guess my favorite exercise to do with others would be a race! Once a year on Mother's Day, I make everyone take a long walk with me, usually on the beach. My ds wants no part of it, but he gives in gracefully because it's Mother's Day.

Good morning!

If you look up the word "crabby" in the dictionary today, you will see my face. I am beyond crabby. Ugh... teenage girls.

What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

When I first started on my journey, I was letting the scale dictate my moods. If the scale went up a little, I would be incredibly upset and moody. After a few weeks, I decided that I was not going to let the scale tell me how I was feeling. When I go up a little, I tell the scale to bite me! I've lost 35+ pounds! Take that!

I don't have many setbacks anymore.

No it can't be - my dear Maiziezoe in a crabby mood?? What happened?

I'm back, I think I have problems with my meds that make me *slightly* moody and a good friend told me to get my prescription filled, so I obeyed...just took and am hoping tomorrow is better. Took the dogs for a walk, a friend ended up offering to pick dd up from school which gave me an hour free . Tonight is zumba with dd and a friend so I'm committed.

Shannon I'm a slacker and didn't pm my weight to you...I'll do it now.

Jen you're probably in the car and how fun for you!!!!!:cheer2: Take pictures and discover jogging trails!

I am doing it...signing up for the Princess next year! Maybe. :rotfl:

CptnJckSparrow'sgirl - you are awesome!!! I love to see you shedding those pounds and getting healthy. Amazing what a little Edward motivation can get you through!!

I am the queen of multitasking. I NEVER do one thing at a time. If I'm talking on the phone I'm doing something, maybe even using the bathroom  I can do laundry and set up appointments or return phone calls. I've even been known to get up in the middle of the night to throw a load of laundry into the dryer or even start a new load. No one needs hot water for showers when they're sleeping.

I hope your day goes better than mine did yesterday. That gorgeous full moon out there last night filled me in a little on my kiddos behavior. Man, they were jacked UP yesterday. Hoping for a better day today. So glad you have vacation. We had so much snow, our Spring Break has been reduced to Friday and Monday, and they've extended our school day by 15 minutes each day. Oh well, I enjoyed the time I had off then!

Monday's QOTD - Well, that happened last week. Thankfully, I didn't gain after not being able to exercise, but went off the eating deep end Sunday. Thankfully, I pulled it in and jumped in with a venganance yesterday. Lost 2.4 yesterday, so I am now back to Friday's weight. Only need to lose 2 more to get back to my big loss the day before last week's TOM. I feel rather bipolar at times like these. My "thin and fit inner self" and "overweight couch potato self" do battle. Not going to let that evil monster rear her head up again!

Have a great day everyone. Welcome back Shannon, sorry you had to come back to illness. Redwalker - sorry about Warrior pup.

I hope today was a better day for you. We had 3 days taken off our spring break because is snow. Attendance today was a bout 50%. I had one class with 5 kids in it. I was watching someone else's class along with my class. The class I was watching was supposed to stay for 2 sections and my class was leaving after one section. Two kids from the other class left with my class so I had to write them up with a cut.

Hello Guys! This will be SHORT!

At noon today we were listening to Disney music and decided to drive to WDW! Yep, that was at noon and it is 3:00 my time, we are hoping to be on the road within the hour. We are driving!

So, I will not be online until next week! Hope you all have a great week!

Jen:upsidedow

I wish I was on my way but then again I hate crowds.

I like the Happy Weight Formula as well. Depending on whether I go with medium or large frame my HW was (I think) 143-152. I see this as doable, and more important, maintainable. The college weight, I don't see happening, and even if I reached it I think I'd be constantly "dieting" to maintain. I've been feeling really tired and rundown the past week or so, and constantly working so hard to maintain does not sound fun. I still need to read the other article. So if I pick the 152 as a goal, I have 21 pounds to go.

Tracy--good luck with the rain. Last year we had crazy weather here over a 12 month period (obviously not everyday), but it got old after a while. Our kids normally miss one or two days of school for weather. They missed 10 that year. And of course it was Ds's senior year. Sending good thoughts your way for better weather.:goodvibes

Shannon--glad you're feeling better.

Jen--have a great trip!

I came home from work yesterday feeling lousy. I think I am just worn out. We were supposed to look at houses on Wed and I cancelled the appointment. I think it's just stress. Not any specific reason. I still worry about DS way too much. (He's a freshman, away at school--500miles). I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor for after Easter. My heart rate is doing funny things--nothing I can feel except when I take my resting heart rate--I'm not sleeping well, and I'm thinking my blood pressure is up. And I think I've been feeling borderline lousy for longer than I will admit to, I've just been ignoring it. I did tell DS this weekend how cruddy I was feeling and asked if he could please text an "I'm alive" message every other day or so, just so I would maybe not worry so much. Anyhow, I'm hoping that my Dr. will say I'm healthy and just need to work on not worrying so much. Sometimes I think just knowing nothing is wrong helps me to feel better.

Have a good day everyone. Time to get ready for work!

Rose that is a good idea to get it checked out with the doctor. About 6 years ago I was feeling yucky and I had no idea why. One day I went to the nurse because I thought my bp was up. While she was checking my bp she told me that my heartbeat was irregular and pick the hospital I wanted to go to. (I had my choice of three in the area). MY son came and picked me up and dh met me at the hospital. After several tests they found out it was PVC's which is nothing more than an electrical problem. I am able to control it with medication.

This incident was tough on me. I had just lost 30 pounds but I was still on bp medication because it never went down low enough for my dr to take me off something. After this I knew I was on this medication for the rest of my life. It did depress me that I was moving in the right direction with my weight and Ii was still on medication. Those 30 pounds came back over the next couple of years. Luckily I never went over. I am now working on those 30 pounds. Good luck.

Nice to be on vacation. I have too many things to do and not enough time to do it.

I am working with my mother to plan Easter. Not cooking at home. Will help my mom and one of my sisters to cook at my mom's house. Can't decide between orange chiffon cake or pineapple chiffon cake. Mom is picking up a prime rib and I am going to look for different colored cauliflower. I know I can get it in white and pale green. I have seen it in orange and purple. I think it will look very springy with the different colors.

Stay dry everyone.

Hehehe, thanks :goodvibes that means alot. I got an awesome email from my mom about Bella and Edward waiting to take a run with me :woohoo:

I don't think I have anything all that amusing to save time, but DH has been known to sleep in his workout clothes so he didn't have to change when he got up and worked out in the morning. My own workout time-saving tip is not so clever: If I am short on time, I prefer to work out at home since I don't have to factor in extra time for packing up and going to the gym and I don't have to get all my "running outside" stuff together.

As for preparing healthy meals, frozen vegetables are my friend. I also like to prepare a big bunch of soup or chili at the start of the week and have it for lunch most days.

Thanks for the reply. Out of curiousity, did you have to stay on the meds because of the high bp reading? When I first started noticing, what I thought were skipped beats, I did some research and thought that it sounded like pvs's, and that I would talk to her when I went in for my annual. Well, I kept putting off making the appointment. The weird heartbeat is still there (not all the time, but frequently) and now I am starting to feel run down. So time to make the appointment. Thanks for sharing, because I feel a little frustrated as well. I feel like I'm doing all the right things, and now my heart rate is funny. Though, maybe my heart rate has been funny for a while, and I'm only now noticing it because I'm checking it. The good news is my morning resting heart rate is in the 50's. Do the meds have side effects?

I LOVE the idea of talking to my scale that way! I have been so frustrated by the number on my scale lately... I need to give it a little fresh talk! You're right... I've lost 82 pounds and my stupid scale can just kiss my grits!!

That right!! Your scale can kiss your grits!! You've lost 82 amazing pounds! That's fantastic!

Ugh... It's all DD13's fault. I planned on taking the kids to a hotel for a few days this week because it is spring break. I kept it a secret from the little kids... otherwise they will ask "when are we going to the hotel" 5 million times an hour. Yesterday I finally told the little kids that we were going to a hotel on Wednesday until Friday and we were going to eat at Rainforest Cafe and our favorite sushi restaurant. I even told McKenzie she could bring her best friend with us. Fast forward to late last night... McKenzie said she didn't want to go anymore because she wants to spend spring break hanging out with her friends. You know in the cartoons when someone gets mad and smoke comes out of their ears? I had smoke coming out of my ears.

Thank goodness she changed her mind. Every time she spoke to me this morning, I growled... I think she figured out I was mad. :rotfl: All is good again and we're leaving tomorrow afternoon to take a mini-break.

Good afternoon/evening!

Having a much better day now. :) I went to the gym and worked out for 95 minutes. 60 minutes on the treadmill going 4.0 mph, 20 minutes on the bike (6 miles) and 15 minutes on the elliptical (going backwards). Tomorrow morning I meet with my Personal Trainer... :scared1:

I got the best news today via the blood pressure machine. A month ago my blood pressure was 215/109... and I thought it was low (for me, anyway... it's usually higher than that).

Today my blood pressure was.... *drumroll* 123/75! :cool1:

I can't think of anything embarrassing that I have done to save time. My mom says I have been a multi-tasker since the day I was born (I pooped and cried, ate and cried, slept and cried lol).

My favorite time saving tip is buying the Birds-Eye veggies that steam in the bag. It's hard to get good fresh veggies in Illinois in the winter... I love the steam on the beg veggies because they give me less dishes to clean after dinner! :)

We've got water in the bathroom and laundry room downstairs. It's seeping through the walls it appears. The ground is so saturated that we have a few large puddles up against the foundation under the deck. I had been checking it all day. I was heading downstairs to get cake for DD2 when I saw all the water. DH put some gravel up against the house so hopefully that is slowing it down. I had to postpone a client for tomorrow and cancel plans for the afternoon for DD1. We're eating off of paper plates with plastic silverware so we don't have to do dishes. Probably won't get to shower tomorrow either. Hoping it lets up soon! We've got towels all over the floor downstairs and then we throw them in the dryer and will reuse them later. Good thing I did laundry last weekend and had run the dishwasher.

I just had a drink! Couldn't help it as I'm so stressed about this situation! Had leftover chop suey for supper and I'm going to have a piece of cake! Not going to be a good week. PMS isn't helping as I've found myself screaming and getting frustrated about everything.

Have I mentioned how much I hate rain?!

Going to spend the evening cleaning downstairs and keeping track of the water. I'll watch BL and hopefully get back some motivation for the rest of the week and for my coaching week!

Oh my gosh - this is so upsetting! I sure hope the water stops for you soon. It sounds like you've got a system, at least.

My kids were going stir crazy from being stuck in the house the last two days, so I suggested dinner out. We went to an Italian restaurant that we recently discovered. I knew before I left what my choice was going to be. I ordered the shrimp scampi with sauteed broccoli. I figured I would allow myself one roll. Well one roll led to two. I'm not gonna beat myself up I enjoyed it. I figure the whole meal was about 11 points on WW. I could have done a lot worse.

Just got back from zumba...HUGE calorie burn! 526 calories!!:yay:

The medication I take not only takes care of bp but also the pvcs. SO even if my bp gets super low I will still be on this medication for pvcs. The first medication they had me on caused a cough and constipation (I know TMI). I wasn't going to tell the doctor about this but when I did he told me that I shouldn't have to suffer. So he changed it to another and it has been no problem since. The way they can tell if it is truly pvcs is by a stress test. even a simple one. If when you start to exercise the they go away it is probablly pvcs. I watch the monitor as they were hooking me up and saw the extra bumps. As I got more into the test the more they went away. The worst test was the one where they hooked me up to a monitor for 24 hours. It was very hard to sleep. The echocardiogram is just a sonargram so that wsa easy. The super duper stress test that I went through wasn't bad just a LONG morning. There was nothing too bad just a lot of sitting around and waiting.

Any other questions just ask. I haven't been to a cardiologist in a couple of years. I am at my internist a few times a year for my bp and at least once a year she does a ekg. I have not had a bad one with her since I was diagnosed. The ekg I had before my footsurgery was not done right and had a notation on it that could have stopped the surgery. My doctor spotted the notation and did one in her office and sent it and I had no problem.
