Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I want to wear a size that it not a double digit, but honestly, that seems like more of a dream than a realistic goal at this point. Then again, I've managed to shrink my bra size, so the rest of me can't be far behind! I think it is possible for the top half of me, the bottom is going to take much more work, and I am going to keep working and watch my sizes decrease as my weight goes down.

Maria, isn't it bizarre how some parts shrink so easily and others just seem to sit there? Seems like my legs slimmed down so fast, but my waist is still lagging way behind. Keep on going and you'll get down to those single digits - I know you can do it!

Congratulation Redwalker. You are the only one who did the COW during the week I didn't post a new COW. Keep up the good work.

COW 12

THis week's COW starts on tomorrow 12/11/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 12/17/09.

SInce most people feel that 4 is the limit to keep in mind for the COW this week I will start to take some away and add new ones.

YOu get 1 point for each day you follow the COW

Eat 2 pieces of fruit or drink 1 glass of fruit juice and eat 1 piece of fruit each day
Try to add 10 minutes of stretching or yoga to your workout everyday. ( point per day for the 10 minutes)
Get a good night sleep. I am not going to put a number on it since everyone has different needs. Just try to go to bed at a reasonable time for you. With the holidays coming up we are better able to handle the stress if we get enough rest.
Spend 5 minutes each day doing something to make your life easier for tomorrow wether it is ironing your clothes the night before or making your lunch so you could get out of the house easier.( 1point for each day you do this)

On Friday 12/18/09 send me

XX days of eating fruit
XX days of stretching
XX days of getting a good night sleep
XX days of doing something to make tomorrow easier

Thanks and enjoy the COW

And hi to all.

Lisa thanks for telling me I'm not slacking. I've been thinking that I'm just walking for 30 minutes then only doing 10 minutes of exercises...um...yes that is 40 total minutes of exercise isn't it??:woohoo:

Worfie I'll still be here too! In fact I think I have a coaching day coming up soon...

Well I'll second Lisa. So double the Lisa!!! Jenn look at you on the top ten when you were so frustrated last month! Fantastic. It jumped out at me. Good for you.

Which brings me to our coach of the day rotation coming up soon. Thank you, princessbride6205, for being our coach during this busy week. You're doing a great job!

Great job! I think snow shoveling also counts as exercise! Thank goodness the plow stayed away from your driveway.

You do! On 12/15! It's a lot of fun and I will be contacting you about BL 9 coaching. :thumbsup2

Oh, and one other thing, anyone care to join me in the single digit dance?:cool1::banana:

On the bold - ummm yes okay:lmao: with severe - very severe - envy!!!:goodvibes

It's 3:30 am and I can't sleep! The wind is howling which could be part of the problem! Stressing about whether or not my tree will last another two weeks. The needles are falling off like crazy. We've had the humidifier on all week and it's still dropping the needles. Mom and I are going to go to the place we bought it to speak to someone. I really don't want to have to redecorate a tree. I've already redecorated this one once after it fell over on Saturday. My mom did say she'd help me so we'll see what they say at the store.

Not sure when I'll get my workout in today as I'm taking my mom shopping today. Hoping to go to AG Store in Natick to pick up a few things for the DDs.
Parents are going out tonight so it may have to wait until then. I'll try and at least do my crunches this morning. May be able to get in a 2 mile in the bedroom after DH goes to work.

Haven't done any questions in a few days. I'll try and get back to those today.

Gearing up for the 2 week countdown to Christmas! Still got a lot to do for parents and DH. Girls will be done after today except for one more thing for DD1. She wants a DVD that comes out next week.

Well, I think I'll try to sleep again. Hopefully getting the tree stress on paper will help lessen it.

Sweet dreams friends!

Belated Wednesday QOTD:Is there anyone that YOU'VE inspired to get healthy or lose weight?

Thursday QOTD: Do you have a non-weight related goal? (clothing size, fitness, etc)
Mine is to fit into a particular pair of pants I have. Once I fit into those, I'll be on the maintain track. ;) I'm also working towards being able to jog farther - first a 5k, and hopefully working up to a 1/2 marathon.
I think i have inspired my dbrother and dsil to lose weight in the past, as they have inspired me. We all did really well 3 years ago before our first disney trip, and like me, they both gained this year. It's nice when you have others trying to be healthy and when you're having a bad day, they encourage you to do better. Kind of like my dis friends here.

Non weight goal would be to fit comfortably into the clothes I wore 2 years ago- 14s. I really felt great then, and I'm planning to wear them next summer.

I hope you enjoy whichever movie you pick. I also loved the Twilight books. I wasn't thrilled with the Twilight movie, and thought the New Moon movie was much better. ::yes::
Thanks, I went to The Blind Side, and it was awesome. I didn't care for twilight either, and didn't want to be disappointed in my choice, since I don't get to the movies alone very often, like never.

I would like to buy a pair of size 4 jeans and have them fit. Now, I know that the sizes have all shifted and a size 4 now is equivalent, roughly, to a 1992 size 8 and a size 6 is roughly equivalent to a 1992 size 10. How low can they go? I don't know.
So, does this mean that when I was a size 10, I was really a 6!! :rotfl: I've never been in single digits!!:cool1:

Good luck on the run this weekend, corinna. Looks like a pretty cool weekend here, but might be good for running. Where is the race you're doing?

Congratulation Redwalker. You are the only one who did the COW during the week I didn't post a new COW. Keep up the good work.

Thanks and enjoy the COW
Nice work Redwalker!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Dona for running the cow, even though I don't always send my points, I have the cow written on a post it on my desk, and do look at it through the week and it does help remind me keep some healthy habits.
Actually on the sleep thing, I've been bad. The past 3 nights I've fallen to sleep when I lay down with my son at 8:30, and get up around 11 and watch the news and david letterman. He is so funny, but then I can't get back to sleep. I'm going to work on that this week.
And hi to all.
Hi Lisa.:wave2:

It's 3:30 am and I can't sleep! The wind is howling which could be part of the problem! Stressing about whether or not my tree will last another two weeks. The needles are falling off like crazy. We've had the humidifier on all week and it's still dropping the needles. Mom and I are going to go to the place we bought it to speak to someone. I really don't want to have to redecorate a tree. I've already redecorated this one once after it fell over on Saturday. My mom did say she'd help me so we'll see what they say at the store.
What a bummer on the tree. You paid such good money for it too. I wonder if the mild weather has just dried all the cut trees out. We're getting ours this weekend. We go to a farm and cut it down, and it tends to last pretty well. Good luck at the store. And though it's been a tough tree year for you so far, remember next year you'll be laughing about it. The tree falling down.:scared1: Good memories for the kids. Hope you got back to sleep.

Have a great day.:)

Got back to sleep and then the alarm went off. Trying to fight off a headache right now. Off to the Natick Collection with Mom to visit the AG Store. Girls each want an animal and a carrier.
Down .4 for the week whcih is better than my last PMS week. Got in the 2 mile WATP this morning in my bedroom. DD2 loves to do the stretch with me at the end! I had to call her into the room when it came on.
Should get in at least one more small workout today not sure if I'll have time for anything tomorrow as I have a Santa b'fast to sell books at and then catch the end of pageant practice , then come home and get ready to head to a Christmas party.

Hope everyone has a super weekend!

Thank you, princessbride6205, for being our coach this week and welcome to all of our coaches in the upcoming week!

Please let me know how you like the coach rotation because I am thinking about doing it for the first week of the BL 9 challenge.

Lisa- 8 days!!!! I'm so jealous. I just got the 2010 planning video in the mail yesterday, and I had requested info about disneyland, and was looking that over. Michael got so excited to see it. Think it's time to start planning.:rotfl:

Thanks, Kathy! :thumbsup2 I think a DLR trip in December 2010 would be a good plan. :santa: They have Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas) and It's a Small World Holiday. Sleeping Beauty castle is beautiful with the lights. Also by then the World of Color show at DCA will be on. Michael would love it and unfortunately you are running out of time that you can do those during school trips.

Belated Wednesday QOTD:Is there anyone that YOU'VE inspired to get healthy or lose weight?

I think I've inspired DH to work on his weight. As many of you have said, it's up to him to decide and do it himself.

I'm still thinking about my answer to yesterday's QOTD.

Next up: Biggest Loser 9 logo. :thumbsup2

Thank you, corinnak! We all get to enjoy your artistic efforts every single day!

Worfiedoodles, ITA about the body parts shrinking differently. I noticed a lot of the Biggest Loser folks still had big calves. :confused3

And hi to all.

On the bold - ummm yes okay:lmao: with severe - very severe - envy!!!:goodvibes

Hello, lisaviolet! And thank you for joining me in the single digit dance. :flower3:

So, does this mean that when I was a size 10, I was really a 6!! :rotfl: I've never been in single digits!!:cool1:

 I think I was a size 7 for about 2 weeks when I was 15! :rotfl2:

, tigger813, about your tree woes. I agree with Kathy, this is going to be a memorable tree. Is it in a place that is too warm?

Add me to the group having trouble sleeping. I'm waking up in the night, too. :confused3 I think I'm stressed getting ready for vacation, and making sure I have holiday things done.

Down 1 pound this week! :yay: That is something that I don't have to stress about. :santa:

Have a great day and don't forget to PM those weigh in and COW numbers!

Jumping in to do the QOTD before heading out to work! Its a 2-parter

Its 2 weeks until Christmas, and it may be a stressful time for many of us. So what do you do to handle stress?
And part 2: what's a favourite non-traditional Christmas carol?

For me, when I'm getting worried about getting everything done in time. I try telling myself that sometimes its okay to just settle for good enough and not worry about gettting everything perfect. Then I make time for a bath.

And I really like Christmastime by Bryan Adams.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y1j21S-m7Q

Thanks Dona for keeping the Cow going until the end. :thumbsup2

To handle stress I drink water and walk. Let go the stress of not being perfect...no one is perfect..just like Hannah Montana says!
My favorite non-traditional Christmas carol is The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping. IT brings me back to my teenage years.

Got back to sleep and then the alarm went off. Trying to fight off a headache right now. Off to the Natick Collection with Mom to visit the AG Store. Girls each want an animal and a carrier.

Hey Buddy! Can't wait to for everyone to see your hot new self! See you tomorrow night at the party! So proud of you!

Its 2 weeks until Christmas, and it may be a stressful time for many of us. So what do you do to handle stress?
And part 2: what's a favourite non-traditional Christmas carol?

Well... as LuvBaloo mentioned that she is doing, I am trying to let go and be a bit "less perfect" this holiday season. It takes me a long time to get my shopping done (usually) because I spend forever trying to think of and buy/make the "perfect" gift for everyone. ANd let's face it... there is NO SUCH THING!! This year's gift giving involves a great many gift cards and such, but I'm trying to be okay with that. I did make my own cards again this year and they are cute, but not nearly as elaborate as last year's .... but again, I'm trying to be okay with it. So I guess I am handling stress by trying to downgrade my usual holiday projects/shopping. Although I must say, I am not a high stress person, so other than getting the shopping done, I don't usually have much holiday stress.

I really like the Mariah Carey "All I want for Christmas" song.... mainly because it reminds me of Disney! She sang it at the Christmas parade special a few years ago.... I think we watched that special about 10 or more times over the course of the year (saved on the DVR)... so now I think of Disney every time I hear it! I am not a MC fan, but I do love this song.

Sorry I haven't been on much at all lately! I have been just so busy with work and the kids activities and Christmas shopping. I have been totally missing the QOTD.

Thanks to so many of you for your encouragement about my running the 5K ..... but BOY was I sore the next two days! I think it was the run combined with the extra Nautilius workout I did that same night. But I am feeling pretty good today and may attempt the 5K again tonight. It really was AMAZING the feeling of accomplishment I had when I was done! I felt like I could do ANYTHING!

Well... good news/bad news on the scale this morning. I was NOT up the 3 pounds that I saw on the scale on Monday, but I was up 1.6. It really frustrates me because it ALMOST puts me at a number I SWORE I never wanted to see again! And the foods I ate were SO not worth it! I need to remember that in the future! And I need to plan better in the future. Live and learn, I guess.

Even though I missed the QOTD where it was asked if WE inspired anyone to lose weight/get healthy, I just wanted to say that ALL OF YOU inspire me DAILY.... to eat healthier and get more exercise. I love hearing about your successes and your troubles. When you succeed, it inspires me to do better and succeed. And when you struggle I learn from you and I am inspired when I think of things to say to encourage you and comfort you. I love that you feel comfortable enough with all of us to share your hard times and your troubles. It is nice to be trusted. It is definitely a win-win situation.

It is another busy day here, so I am not sure when/if I will get back on here. I need to go PM LuvBaloo with the bad news... I think I forgot to do that last week... sometimes I post here and I forget to do the next step! Smiles and love to you all today..................Pamela

Aww pjilla, you are so right - everyone here has inspired someone to lose weight...each other! :thumbsup2

Its 2 weeks until Christmas, and it may be a stressful time for many of us. So what do you do to handle stress?
I'm trying to plan ahead this year and manage what I can realistically accomplish. I started buying gifts a little earlier than normal. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself when things go wrong or I can't get everything done that I want to. DH is pretty good at talking me off the ledge, too (though sometimes it's more infuriating because he is so laid back!). I keep getting in my workouts which help. :yay: I'm also really trying to enjoy the Christmas season this year - listening to lots of Christmas music, taking a few more days off around the holiday to stay with family, etc.

And part 2: what's a favourite non-traditional Christmas carol?I love the Mariah Carey "All I Want for Christmas is You." When we were teens, my sister and I made a music video lip sync-ing that song. But I also love the Snoopy/Red Baron song too.

Went down to weigh in. Was actually excited. Feel good. Felt smaller. Clothes looser. Oh the anticipation. Psyched to get on the scale. Smile on my face. Down .2. :lmao:

WTH? Guess what other surprise I got. A period this morning when I just had a period a week and a half ago. Obviously my body is whacked. I can't decide whether it is stress (My mom has to have open heart surgery in a couple of months - weeks of waiting for test results) or the lovely menopause. Of which I always thought was friggin' less periods - not a double batch for crying outloud! Why would God grant such a lovely thing? :lmao:;) Don't answer. I'm a tad too hormonal for the answer.

:goodvibes to all!

And BL youngin's - GET IT DONE!!!! - it's not quite as fun or the same at 42. Get it off now youngins! :surfweb:

I know I haven't been on much --works just been nuts and it's so cold that I just want to get under the electric blanket and stay there after I'm off. I'm down 2 pounds though this week ;-) Off to Portland now for the weekend whee-!

Favorite non traditional christmas song is 12 days of christmas by Straight no chaser! It is so funny!

Was down a bit this week which is a huge step for me as I usually gain on this particular week! I want to keep losing through the end of the year!

Sarah

pjlla - you are so right that this group is great for inspiring each other ::yes::

I did my weigh in this morning, and I was up 0.7pounds. I did okay with the eating but didn't get enough exercising in. I have definitely NOT done my share for the group goal - in fact I'm currently up 1.3 from the start of BL8. I am hoping to kick up the exercising this week, and stick with the good eating, and come in next week with a loss ::yes::
