Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?

I'm looking forward to this movie being on because it gives me another 30 minutes to get things done before Biggest Loser is on!

As far as past years? My family likes to watch The Grinch as we set up our Christmas Tree. The only thing about it now is, we have the Jim Carrey one and my girls watch it all year round so they kinda took the "special" out of it. I do remember watching The Wizard of Oz at my great gma's every year when we did Christmas at her house. We'd all get new jammies and sprawl out watching it.

As for the QOTD: Grumpy. I am sore and was up way late last night picking my mom up from the airport 2 hours each direction in the middle of a wind storm...talk about white knuckle!
Sarah

Oh my goodness, what a great daughter you are! That is some serious driving. I'd be Grumpy, too! ;)

Worfiedoodles: It reminded me of when they left Pedro in during the playoffs years ago.

That's exactly what dh and I were saying, and you just feel powerless and bewildered at the bonehead move! :confused3

I had a bad night. I had bad dreams. They weren't exactly nightmares because I was hanging out with my grandma like I use to before she passed away. But then it sunk it that she was dead and it started to make me cry in the dream and I woke up sad and continued to have this happen through out the rest of the time. When I finally got up and felt sad and exhausted. I've been sad all day it feels like thinking about my grandma. It's been 4yrs and a month since she passed  I just feel like sleeping :sad1:

Sometimes we just have these sad days. I'm sure your Grandma was reaching out in love to you, or for some reason your subconscious thought you needed her -- perhaps some words of wisdom or some memories to help you deal with something that's going on in your life right now. It sounds like you have good memories of her. Let those be a comfort to you.

I vote for the new dwarf Busy

Eating has been pretty good but exercise has been no go except for yoga on Thursday night. I can't wait till Thursday night.

I know what you mean -- "Busy" the dwarf it is! :rotfl: I love my yoga class. It is once a week, three weeks a month, and I really miss it. Today is the off week, so no yoga for me until next Tuesday. :sad1:

Hey CptJackSparrowsGirl,
Did you ever think to why your grandmother might have come to you in a dream? Maybe she came to you because she knows you need that comfort, she knows you miss her, but she wants you to be happy to. Remembering the good times we have had with others that have passed is a way of always keeping them alive in our hearts. She would not want you to give up on yourself, she would want you to be happy, living life, taking charge and living up to your full potential. Look down the road of your life, and see that you have many choices ahead. Right now you have the choice to eat the chocolate you crave or turn that craving into a craving for life, a healthy you, someone that can despite missing your grandmother and the pain that brings, can remember how much she loves you and how much she will be smiling down on you when you do something to improve you and the wonderful life you have ahead. There are always better days ahead.

Well, that was some pretty awesome advice! :thumbsup2

I would also go with Happy. And I am, I was able to run(dance) about 2 miles and walk the other 3miles. I am feeling good, despite my husband traveling in Denver. I am going to do the 30day Shred now. It is a good day. :dance3:

Love those good days! May they outnumber those of any sort, except the spectacular days! :goodvibes

Thanks for asking, Maria. My job isn't awful - but the combo of low pay, my immediate boss being on maternity leave, and some frustrating projects...
I do know that part of it is my outlook - at least that part I can change! I've taken to listening to podcasts or music while I work - that helps the most.

I love the podcasts! I'm addicted to the DIS podcast! Such a fun show. I've also discovered one on Netcot I like, and I guess I'll keep exploring...

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc? Unfortunately, I've ended up Doc today. DH is sick.
Bodypump class again this morning. I love how I can see actual muscles in my arms when I work out in front of the mirror!:thumbsup2

Sorry about dh -- in my experience dh's do not make the best patients :rolleyes1 So glad Bodypump is doing just that! You've earned those muscles! :yay:

Memories are very powerful

Yes, they are -- I think it's great to let the good ones wash over you.

QOTD: There are too many specials to count. We always look forward to Charlie Brown and Rudolph! I'm a Christmas nut which sometimes drives DH crazy! May start putting up my village later if I feel any better! May watch a few Christmas specials. No plans tonight except for watching Madagascar and BL.

You are clearly a fan! What do you think of the new ones that have cropped up lately? I really like the Shrek one. That seems to be an instant classic for us.

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?

Just the usual.... Charlie Brown's Christmas, Rudolph, and Grinch. In FACT.... I can remember being at WDW in 1974... the first week of December. And my brother and I watched Rudolph on a tv in some sort of arcade at the Contemporary!! I remember being excited because I didn't miss our holiday tv specials, even though we were on vacation. The room/arcade had big windows that looked out onto the water where the electric water pageant went by. Interesting memory.
Imagine the GREAT feeling I would have for the rest of the day, knowing I got in a nice long workout before the eat-a-thon weekend begins!! I'm really getting excited about it!

What a totally cool memory! Yes, I remember when if you didn't watch it on tv when it was broadcast, that was too bad. There were no videos or dvds. ::yes::

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?

Well, I am a big ol' grinch, I'm afraid. I am not that much a fan of holiday specials. I do like Nightmare Before Christmas and have fond memories of that Muppet Christmas Special when they kept saying "Watch out for the icy patch!" Has anyone else seen the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978? I like Star Wars as much as the next wookie, but oh man!

I agree, that Star Wars special was the worst -- and you certainly can't find it today! ;)

QOTD - yesterday I was "Happy", today ~ I will be looking forward to "The Christmas Story" when we get very close to Christmas Day. I have to wait to launch my Christmas spirit or I peak too soon. This year I am hoping to lauch the spirit when we arrive at WDW 12/11. Can you even imagine a prettier place (without snow) to celebrate the season?

What a wonderful start to your holiday season! Extremely festive! :santa: I have to start now or else I get overwhelmed. I need to sing "Whistle While You Work" -- When there's too much to do, don't let it bother you...Your way sounds more fun and less measured, but I get crazy if I don't start now!

I could totally use a nap right now, but I'm going to have lunch instead. Gotta replenish those stores for the afternoon!

That is an awesome memory! Sounds like a very fun tradition. We generally do a theme night for Christmas Eve, with a movie to cap off events. I bought a Nativity puzzle for this year, so I have to come up with a Christmas movie in that vein that is ok for an 11-yr. old to watch, which won't bore his parents silly...Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm finally back. I had to step away for a bit. I had the flu, 8th grade stuff ramped up, DD3 had the flu, DS8 has a massive ear infection, and DH finally got a new job! But it's 100% travel. He will be gone every week until we go on vacation then he's off to Germany for a few weeks in January.

I took the Wii out of the kids room (DS13's punishment for bad grades) but I need to set it up in the living room for me. I want get the wii fit active for my birthday next week, and I have the Jillian Michael's game/video/what ever it's called.

I have 31 days til WDW so I must must must start my walking routine! I try to get up to a few miles a day so my legs don't hurt so bad in FL. I took a pedometer once and we average 7-12 miles a day at Disney. Now I'm kicking myself for giving my mom the electric treadmill, I kept the manual one (big mistake!)

I haven't weighed myself lately so please forgive me, but my clothes fit just the same so I know I am probably still where I was when we started.

OK so, Day 1 - take 2. LOL

Dwarf - Sleepy. Had to get up early and take DH to the airport.

Favorite Holiday movie - Miracle on 34th Street (both versions but I like the original more), The Holiday, and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas.

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?
Definitely the Muppet Family Christmas & Muppet Christmas Carol. There are a lot of Christmas specials we like though, so I'll have to find time for them all. ;)

Favorite Holiday movie - Miracle on 34th Street (both versions but I like the original more), The Holiday, and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas.

I love the Holiday! I got an Itunes gift card from my birthday and that was the only movie I downloaded with it! I watch it over and over again!

Gotta go paint DD2s nails.

I got the 3 mile WATP in. Plan on doing 2 miles on the elliptical later before or during BL!

Well only 1 more crazy day and life gets back to normal.

The workshop went well except for some mistakes on a worksheet. I will correct it send it out in the email to the people who were there. I got a lot of nice complements and the evaluations were good.

Just planned dinner for tonight. Barbque chicken legs, roasted cauliflower and rice pilaf.

I love the Grinch but I also love to watch Bing Crosby's "Holiday Inn" and "White Christmas" I remember watching "White Christmas" as a child with our neighbors coming over and having a party while we watched it.

Thanks Worfiedoodles:goodvibes

The dreams just keep getting stranger though. Last night no grandma, but instead some kind of medication I'd never heard of that had a side effect of human combustion?:confused3 What's with that?!:lmao:

I walked again today. (Keeping on task thankfully.) Tired big time cause I tried something different on the tread and it in turn tried to kill me by upping the speed like every 2 minutes!! I was like going nuts!! Finally I pushed some buttons and it stopped doing that:woohoo: That goodness. I was going to die if it ever reached passed 4. I can only walk 2.5 at this time and it was shooting up to 3.4 by the time I finally got it to stop doing that.

Oh creepy thing was I was the only girl in there during my whole walk. I was surrounded by guys. Just a little scary being alone with stronger ppl. But thankfully there was a camera in there watching us. I must have looked silly. I don't have gym cloths at school and I don't wear any at home when walking so I was in a Walt Disney World Tshirt with Mickey Mouse on it and a pair of blue jeans ROFL!!:rotfl:

Completed 2 miles on the elliptical at resistance 2! 606 calories! Did the 3 mile WATP this afternoon and my 50 crunches and reverse crunches and oblique work. Probably do some more during BL! I love the makeover episode!

Tomorrow speed walking the mall with Redwalker from 9:30-11 then Costco run, pick DD2 up, take DD2 to dancing, take DD1 to Theater class, pick up DD2 at dancing, pick up DD1 at theater and then head to church for pizza and carol singing practice for the pageant! I'm tired just thinking about tomorrow. Plan on getting up at 5:30 to get 2 miles on the elliptical in and maybe 2 mile WATP before the speed walking! The more I workout the more energized I am, Go Figure!:cool1:

Enjoy the show tonight! Hoping for a big loss this week!

Doing the single digit dance today! Only 9 more days til we head for WDW! The forecast is calling for 77 and rain, but I'm sure it will change since it's so far off.

You'll never guess what I did this morning. I had my alarm set for 5:30 and I woke up at 4:55 to go to the bathroom. I figured it was pointless to try to go back to sleep at that point, so I went downstairs and did Wii Fit yoga! I couldn't do my step aerobics because I didn't want to wake up my brother who was sleeping in the basement, but I got a workout in none the less. Last night I put together my new step that the Wii Fit goes on, and it did seem to make the step aerobics more effective. I've gotta get in shape for all those steps at Blizzard Beach so I don't have to stick to the family slide at the top of the ski lift!

QOTD: My favorite classic holiday movie is It's a Wonderful Life, but I also like the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen.

We are recording Merry Madagascar tonight. When I was little we really looked forward to the various Christmas specials because, of course, back then you had one shot to watch. Heck, we even had to get up to change the channels! :lmao: Now we have them on DVD but we usually don't watch them until about now.

I love the movie Love Actually -- I can watch it anytime. I have to confess I don't mind watching Vince Vaughn dancing in Fred Claus either. ;)

:banana::banana: Yay! The single digit dance!

Good to see you again, Buffy! :thumbsup2

Have a great evening all!

LOVED Madagascar! It was hilarious! DH and I enjoyed some lite popcorn. 5 cups of popcorn was 110 calories! It tasted so good!

I watch that several times a year! One of my all time favorite movies! Just a great story of love!

Too bad 50sjayne is off celebrating her 20th anniversary -- she would be chiming in since she loves that movie, too.

I am a huge fan of Love Actually, too! I was actually watching it when I went into labor with DD. Hugh Grant dancing is one of my favorite scenes (among many). Best line: "There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?"

We watched Merry Madagascar here - I was just excited to get in the holiday spirit with a TV special! I've never actually scene the Madagascar movies.

Life got hectic again. Today's my older DD turned 8. We had her birthday party on Sunday, so I spent Saturday baking treats for her party and getting things together. My parents came to town on Sunday so I ended up making brunch - I experimented with pancakes and made peanut butter pancakes with banana slices and walnuts added to them as they were cooking. They were delicious with just a tiny bit of margarine on them, and with no syrup :goodvibes. Monday was busy with both DD's having soccer, and then I was baking cupcakes for the birthday girl to take to her Brownies meeting tonight since it was actually on her birthday.
I managed to watch the last half of Biggest Loser tonight and get 1hour of stepping in :cool1:

Sorry I am not sending a reminder list out this week, I'll soon be opening all the PM's and getting the results post done before heading off to bed!

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?

unfortunately, I'm winging it most of the time, and doing my best to have healthy food options available. Exercise I continue to struggle with, so there's no back up plan there.:guilty:

I just wandered back to the boards, had some free time, and was just reading. I am so excited to find W.I.S.H!

Welcome to BL8! and Congrats on quitting smoking:thumbsup2:cool1:

In honor of all this white stuff I propose a "QOTD" from Denver - "If you lived in a snow globe, what Disney tune would your music box be playing?" Mine would be "That's How You Know" from Enchanted.

creative question! Mine would be The Bear Necessities!:goodvibes

Getting the QOTD up before the day gets too old...

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?

Yesterday it would have been Sleepy while I was at work, and Happy at home. I had a great time watching my kids play soccer, and I love baking for a purpose, so making my DD cookies was enjoyable. Plus its fun to wrap her present and blow up some balloons so she woke up today to some decorations. She's starting to know the things DH & I "always" do, so she wasn't surprised to see balloons when she woke up. :lmao:

A Great Morning to Everyone!

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week X? This week I’ve went with a simple TOP 10 LIST. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl: (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Quick like a bunny with the
Wednesday QOTD: Weight loss can be a long, hard journey. What mental accomplishment are you the most proud of thus far?

I'm going to make a long story short -- I was running in this year's WDW Half Marathon in January and about 4 miles in I got to the toll gates for the Magic Kingdom. I had my ipod blaring, and even though there were CMs in the gate area, I thought they were telling you to watch out for a rail. Turns out it was actually a speed bump, too. I went splat on my face, and fell hard. A CM helped me up and asked me if I was able to continue. Five, ten or fifteen years ago I would have said no and got on a bus to the finish line. This year I said yes and kept going. I finished with a much slower time than I intended but I finished. This was not a physical accomplishment at that point -- I had trained, and my body could handle the miles. It was all mental, I set my mind to finish and I was going to. I was bloody and bruised I later found out (I really looked awful since I fell literally on my face), but I was so proud -- I can't wait to hear the proud moments from everyone else!

Wednesday QOTD: Weight loss can be a long, hard journey. What mental accomplishment are you the most proud of thus far?

I am proud of the fact that I have finally wrapped my mind around the fact that this healthy eating/exercise plan is a LIFESTYLE change, and not a temporary "diet". Sure, there are still tough days when I truly wonder how I will keep this up for a lifetime. But in my head, I KNOW that I must.... or return to the old me at 200+ pounds, no self-confidence, full of self doubt, miserable with her image and energy level. Not a great alternative............P

I've missed a few QOTD being on vacation but here's todays...
I would say I'm most proud of sticking to the plan this long while I'm only losing such a small amount of weight per week. Usually I start a plan and lose 2-5 lbs per week and get instant gratification! I've so far only lost 9.5 lbs in, how many weeks now? about 1 lb per week and that's discouraging. My clothes fit exactly the same!

I'm happy that I'm still commited.:cloud9:
