Hi Everyone - this goes under the "life is weird category". I reported in yesterday with a .5 weight loss which was less than past weeks but I am always happy with a trend in the right direction. This morning I went to my weight watchers meeting and was down 1.8 from last Saturday. I must have run a marathon in my sleep last night! :yay: Just goes to show, don't get to caught up in what the scale says from one day to the next. Remind me later that I said this!

Have great weekends ~ it is beautiful in Denver, sunny and high 60's. Good day for a walk with the DH and pups!

Oh my gosh, Sarah! What an incredible change! It is amazing how much of a difference you can make in yourself in six months.

I also have to say, I have been coveting your 50 WISH clippie! It looks fantastic! I am taking my time getting to mine, but one of these days....

Stayed the same this week - I am eating a lot better though. Tonight, for DN b'day we're having sushi.
I missed yesterday's QOTD so here goes-
I would want Mary Poppins as a motivational coach/weight loss partner. She would get me on track for sure:scared1:

Todays QOTD- I'm trying to make a list of all the things we love that are good choices for us. For example, smoked salmon, light laughing cows, heirloom peppers and toms, arugula. Those yummy flatbread crackers! Even if they cost a little more. We make our own apple sauce, and salsa. That way we will feel like celebrating without the sweets.
There will probably be hard cider, Malibu. I just have to use the will power with drinking.

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

There are two major things that I will have to try and keep to a minimum and they are: STUFFING and EGG NOG (especially the Sugar Cookie flavored). I will just limit myself to a small serving and one glass of egg nog a week just like I do with my alcohol. I hope to reach 160 by Thanksgiving and 150-155 by Christmas. I plan on staying focused and get in my workouts each day no matter what.

Feeling better though still really tired. Had a pretty successful holiday fair. I did do 20 push ups, 50 crunches and 50 reverse crunches before my shower this morning. Carrying the boxes going into the fair wasn't bad as two men helped which was greatly appreciated. It was leaving that I worked up the sweat. I did about 10 trips to and from the car. I ate my sandwich, a tiny bag of M&Ms, a 100 calorie chocolate covered pretzel package, and had a cup of tea. Never felt like having the yogurt. Several people offered me cookies and then at the end were trying to sell the leftovers half price but I declined. Pork is cooking and I will stir fry myself some mushrooms, carrots, zucchini and onions to have with it.

Gotta go prepare for Sunday school tomorrow and then Christmas shopping with my girls.

:banana:Just a little bragging: DH and DD1 finished their soccer season today. They WON 3-1 having an overall record for the season of 4-3. DD2 scored the last goal of the season bringing her total to 3 goals and 2 assists! Now we need to find her an indoor league for the winter!

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

We will host a big family holiday party sometime in December (Can you believe we don't have the date yet?! That would be my dh...sigh). It will be hard because we hold it at a restaurant, and we can only bring in dessert. That means my choices will mostly be pizza or fried. I will eat a sensible and filling lunch with plenty of veggies, so I'm not starving at dinner. I will also plan to just sample everyone's desserts, and then only the ones people actually made (so that will make the list much smaller!). I will also be sure I'm speaking with everyone more than eating.

Wow! Sarah you look fantastic! What a positive change -- you should be so proud!

Maria :upsidedow

Thanks LuvBaloo, that encouragement makes me feel a lot better.
I also thought of another encourager: Mrs. Potts. So, I don't know if I'd want her or Jiminy now!

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

DESSERTS, DESSERTS, DESSERTS!!!! My tip would be to cut everything in half. That is how I will win the dessert battle.

SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

Gosh I dunno. I started my weight loss journey last year after New Years.
I think the best thing for me will be to limit my eating before get togethers. Also be better with cleaning the fridge before thanksgiving hits and being faithful with dealing with leftovers- properly storing/freezing things.

Just went to Portland to put kid on the plane to visit his sister in Albequerque-*sp?

Had dinner at Burgerville-- love of my life. Only had a pumpkin shake, albeit a lg. and some sweet potato fries. The shake was the best pumpkin shake I have ever had in my life and don't regret it lol. All their ingredients are real and local- very fresh. And we don't have any Burgervilles in Eugene because we are dumb.
I had a free glass of wine at the Holiday Inn with their priority club sign up instead of a free desert and it was lovely expensive Merlot so that was great. Today we went to Otto's in Portland before going home. It was a place Guy Fieri featured on one of his shows (Diners drive ins and dives) so we were determined to check it out. Had the most 'friggin awesome hot pastrami sandwich in my life and bought some pastrami to take with us on our anniversary trip and some chicken apple sausages they make there. Moral of the story is though I ate a very light and healthy breakfast yesterday and today didn't eat anything except for an orange in the room for breakfast and some tomato basil soup when I got home. (ok had a beer with the sandwich lol). I can do this....

Sarah, thanks for posting your pics. You look absolutely wonderful! I love that colorful Mickey sweater! :thumbsup2 What a great accomplishment -- your hard work has paid off and you should be very proud of yourself. :flower3:

tigger813, I love eggnog, too. Between the eggnog and the alcohol, it's a double whammy. I've tried cutting the eggnog with skim milk -- it's not too bad, especially if you never have the full strength stuff during the season. You can fool yourself that is the way it really tastes! :santa:

Those are a lot of good strategies for dealing with the holidays! :thumbsup2

Congratulations to all of you who showed a loss this week and a big  to those to who didn't. We can do this!

Have a great day, all!

Ok, so I just read this interesting "cookie" recipe, and I have to share it. Not because it's low in fat or calories, just because...

Cookie Splatters

Take saltine crackers, turn them salt side down, and spread them with the frosting of your choice.

So easy, anyone can do it -- I read it's a good way to use up leftover frosting after you make a cake, and keep people out of the cake before you're ready to serve it...sounds like a snack for the tween boys that just drop in when I have nothing else! They'll eat anything and everything...

You look great! In just six months! Wow!

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

I host a Christmas eve feast starting with wine and cheese and Italian antipasta platters, baked clams, and shrimp cocktail. After all this I serve lasanga! Then dessert. Probably 2 weeks WW points in one night!

I'm going to try and lighten everything up as much as I can without affecting the quality. I'll add lots of fresh veggies to the antipasta and make sure to make a low fat dip. Otherwise I plan on moderation. One baked clam, not two or three! One or two pieces of soppersotta and cheese. Small piece of lasanga.

I'll be sure to drink lots of water too. Maybe sip on two glasses of water between each glass of wine.

Thats the plan. I hope it works!

This is not the world's coolest tip, but I think the main thing for me on those big meals is to go, make good choices (fruit, vegetables, etc) and enjoy some of the rare holiday foods, but not ALL of the rare holiday foods and stop eating when I'm, full. I never ever want eat to the point of being uncomfortable again.

I don't get invited to a lot of holiday functions, but really I find that with things like cookies, I am better off if I just don't start. It's not really deprivatio in my mind, it's just standing back from the slippery slope. I am going to try to choose things that you can't just pick up and eat from your hands this year. A plate and a fork can make a big difference in how I register eating something.

I LOVE the "slippery slope" idea! That is so ME!! I am so much better off if I just say NO to ALL of the cookies... because I can fall down that slippery slope very easily! I did GREAT on Halloween with the candy because I had a PLAN! But last night I wasn't really thinking, I didn't PLAN well, I was hungry and tired, and I went a bit nuts! I had about 10 points worth of candy at bedtime! :scared1: What was I thinking??? (There is no "DOPE SLAP" smilie, but if there was I would put one here!) Guess it's time to make the kids HIDE their remaining candy.

Just thought I would share a before and current as I have been at this for about 6 months now!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I can really see the difference in your face and hips (what I could see of them behind the boy! :lmao:). You have been doing so well.... I KNOW you can keep going and reach your goal. And I love the idea of choosing wisely.... sometimes I pick up a cookie or appetizer from the table and just don't like it... but stupidly I continue to finish it! What a dope! Besides, holidays are about the PEOPLE and the LOVE and the FAMILY TIME.... right? Maybe I will bring some games along this year.... or maybe a small craft project for us to do instead of concentrating on the food table!!

Nice job on resisting the foods yesterday.

KNOWING what your trigger foods are for the holidays, it makes it that much easier to have a PLAN!

Tell your DD way to go on the soccer season! Our season finished several weeks ago.... THANK GOODNESS. It was getting so cold to sit and watch...never mind how cold the players got!

It sounds like you have found a way to indulge when you want but to make calorie sacrifices in other places to make up for it. That is the way to do it! No one is EVER going to give up all of the treats, goodies, and yummy foods out there.... but it is all about moderation, portion control, and substitutions. You had a few tiny, light meals so that you could enjoy the bigger meals at another time.... GREAT JOB!

Oh... BTW..... its ALBUQUERQUE.

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

You sound like my DSIL... she cooks a lot and it is all fattening and delicious! It makes holidays at her house HARD (foodwise), but I am so grateful to her for always hosting. But this year I am DEFINITELY bringing along a light side dish and a light dessert (to share, of course) so that I can make at least ONE healthy choice that day!

Maybe others at your party will also appreciate having a few lighter choices.

On another note, I went shopping with DD yesterday and again I am SO struck by the fact that clothes shopping can actually be ENJOYABLE! It certainly was never fun at a size 16 (or more)....but it's fun now! I'd still rather be scrapbooking... I'm not heavily into clothes, but at least it doesn't bring me to tears anymore!

I did get a BIT of Christmas shopping done. Old Navy was having a great sale... their fleece scarves were $1 each... so DD bought one for each of her close friends and for each girl in her Rainbow Assembly. I will combine those with a little something from Bath and Body and she will have a nice little gift for each of them.

I saw LOTS of things I could have bought for DD, but of course, she was with me!! PLus, her main Christmas gift is a four day school trip to WDW... I am SO jealous I can't stand it!! And they are doing a behind-the-scenes thing at Epcot in the Living Seas (the trip has to have an educational component). She was excited about the trip before she even found out about this part of it, but since she plans on pursuing a career in Marine Biology, she is OVER THE TOP excited. And I'm excited for her... even though I wish I could go along.

Well.... I have SO much to do around here today, I guess I better get moving. I already did 30 minutes of exercise and everyone is fed... on to laundry, yard work, vacuuming, etc. Have a great day everyone...............P

Sarah,
That is a great pic and msut be so motivating to you.

QOTD Saturday: I don't know that I really have a game plan in place. With my family, I help with the cooking, so I make sure that I have some healthier options on the table. I do have one Thanksgiving party with the Worlds of Fun supervisors Thanksgiving weekend, but I think I should be okay.

I plan to keep exercising so that that component is there. I like working out at the gym, and we odn't have a 24 Hour Fitness in Jefferson City, so I'm not sure what I plan to do for workouts there.

Well, the yard and the pool and the garage are ready for winter.... FINALLY. Thank goodness we had a beautiful day here today... DH and I were able to get a LOT done outside. Both of the kids had friends over, so that kept them out of our hair and away from each other all day (although we didn't get any help from them either). And I got the trash out today... that is a really big deal because lately I miss it about 3 out of 4 weeks (ever since we went from Wed. mid-day pick up to Monday crack-of-dawn pick up) ! I got all of the recycling sorted, the newspapers bundled, and all kinds of odds and ends that have needed to be gone, out the door and ready for our early morning trash man!!

All of the gardening tools are put away for the winter, the tall flower stalks around the driveway and sides of the house are trimmed (something I always WANT to do, but rarely get to). The lawn has been mowed for the last time this year, the mower is put away in the shed, and sadly, the snowblower has been moved into its "ready" position in the garage :sad2:. I have my hooks up and ready for birdfeeder season (but no feeders yet... still bears around!)

I washed every "frequent touch" surface in the house today to kill germs... door knobs, cabinet knobs, light switch plates, stair rails, phones, computer mouse, appliance handles, etc. It was also warm enough to leave doors and windows open, so hopefully our sick germs are GONE!!

I didn't get to my scrapbook table, but that is okay. At least when I DO sit there (hopefully later this week) I can scrap GUILT FREE, knowing that all of my other chores are caught up!

I can't believe it is 4:40 pm and it is SO dark already. ICK. I hate winter!!!!!

Thanks for listening to my rambling!! Guess it's time to figure out what is for dinner!........................P

Finally heading downstairs to get in a workout. Think I'll do the 3 mile WATP and later do 2-3 miles on the elliptical.

Got some Christmas shopping done and will take the girls to see Santa on Wednesday. He was there today but we weren't dressed nice enough. Had my bad thing for the weekend. The Chinese place at the Food court at the mall had a special of 7 items for $2.99. It was only a plateful so not too too bad. I plan on having a yogurt for supper and then some popcorn later. DH is prepping for a colonoscopy so I don't want to eat in front of him though he said I could. I ate my calories at lunch. We will probably have pizza and subs for supper tomorrow night so I'll have to be good tomorrow but I'll get in my workouts in the morning and Irish step tomorrow night.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Leslie Sansone is summoning me! Gotta WALK!

You are inspiring me to try to fit in another WATP workout tonight. I only did 30 minutes this morning and I took yesterday off. Maybe I will fit in a 20 or 30 minute one before Amazing Race starts! Thanks for the inspiration.

I hope your DH's procedure goes well tomorrow..............P

Thanks, pjlla! Both a little nervous. I'm going to try and keep myself busy while I wait to go back and pick him up. I have a neighbor watching the girls while I go back to the hospital to pick him up after they get out of school. Wish it was in the morning. He's so hungry and I made stir fried veggies for my supper which he loved the smell of. Gonna stop and pick him up something on the way home and then order subs for supper!
Hoping to get the girls in bed by 7:45 so I can fit the whole 3 miles in on the elliptical. Of course, I'm drinking my water tonight so I may have to stop during the workout once or twice. LOL
I bought a size 12 Lee jean today that were almost a perfect fit. I plan on wearing them tomorrow. I tried on the St. John's Bay brand size 12 and they were REALLY loose!

Writing about my workouts also inspires me to get off the couch and workout. If I don't write it I won't do it but if I write it 9 times out of 10 I will do it. Except for this morning when I decided to stay in bed a little longer. I knew I'd fit in at least 1 workout today and maybe 2. Time for glass # 3 of water! Enjoy your workout!

I don't know what I was thinking but I made a cream cheese brownie pie from the Pillsbury Best of the Bakeoff cookbook this weekend and now I only have 2 more weekly allowance points for the next 2 1/2 days plus I still have a half a pie in the fridge! Last time I made a pie I gave a bunch of slices to my family members but this time they are all away on vacation. My next option was to take it in to work but I may not get to go to work as my kids are sick. DS got a fever again today and now dd is getting it too!

Sarah

Yeah, ME! I did the 3 mile WATP and 3 miles on the elliptical tonight! Then had a Lemon Yogurt. Dinner was stir fried veggies! Still drinking my water for the day.

Gonna get up at 5:30 and do 2 miles on the elliptical and later do the 3 mile WATP again. When I did the 3 mile WATP earlier today, I switched to my 3 mile handweights during the time when they are using the walk away weights just to give myself more of a challenge! It felt GOOD! Time to go clean up the bedroom a bit and take care of clean clothes so I can go to bed at some point. It's going to be a long day tomorrow but I'm going to stay focused!
