Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Well I so have to catch up here. I'm down 2.

There seems like there are a few people close to goal. That's so wonderful!

Have a great weekend everyone. Oh and Kathy - have a terrific holiday. Very envious. Have fun!:lovestruc

QOTD: What one Disney Character would you choose to be your "motivational" or "accountability" partner on your weight loss journey????

I was going to say I have no idea and then read Jiminy and agree with that.

Recently, other than weight I have been dealing with overcoming my fear of something that most people find so easy-getting my license. This is a fear that paralyzes me. For some it is their weight but for me it is this. I have had my learner's for 11 years and have had some experiences that have made me have anxiety attacks even thinking about doing the test to get my full license. I have never told anyone but my mom or husband this so it is scary to put it out there but I am ready to move on-I think. Imagining Jiminy cricket on my shoulder will help put me at ease as I get behind the wheel again and learn how to keep trying no matter how many times I need to until I reach this goal.

"The next number I want to report is our steadiest loser, with perfect reporting and a loss every week: dreamlinda"

WOW - I made the hit parade and didn't even see it for days! I am hoping steady weight loss will lead to long term habits and good health. I am very lucky; 58, over weight most of my life and no health issues. Time to stop relying on luck and getting some pounds off to help me stay healthy for the long term. Thanks to all of you for your support! I never knew "faceless" friends could be so wonderful!!

This week was a little tough, only .5 down, but better than .5 up! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to jump in this afternoon, don't have time to reply to everyone but you all have had some really great answers!!! And I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to all our big losers this week!!! Way to go guys!! Keep up all the work!!!! We all know this is not easy....but we're doing it one step at a time!

QOTD: What one Disney Character would you choose to be your "motivational" or "accountability" partner on your weight loss journey????

"Dory", she would forget my failures, and tell me to "just keep swimming".

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in awhile....it's been a tough week for me.

I gained :( .. it's only .8 and considering I was on a cruise..I know it's not the end of the world...I tried to watch what I ate (which on a cruise is tough!) but since returning home this week..I worked our local election all Tuesday and have been under the weather all week. No COW and no exercise!

Time to get back on track! It's a new week...

Congrats to everyone out there! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I feel horrible! I finally made #1 biggest loser and I haven't even had time to get on the boards and look at the results until now! Well, I'm wearing my clippie with pride for a couple days anyway! :cool1:

I'm up this week, but that's no surprise after a big loss last week, and I feel like I'm just kinda in a funk. My brother is coming home Sunday, so I'm extremely busy getting the basement ready for him, tearing plaster off the brick walls, killing the mildew, painting, etc. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with not being able to get on the boards enough this week too. I didn't even pay attention in my WW meeting today because I was facebooking with my bro. He'll be traveling to Saigon in a few hours and flying out of there early Sun. morn. which is Sat. eve here. 24 hours on 3 planes, and he gets here less than 12 hours after he left! I told him that has something to do with flying backwards around the world! ;)

Lots of errands to accomplish right now, so I'll try to get back later tonight or tomorrow to catch up on the QOTD.

Its not original, but I have to go with Jiminy Cricket. Seashell724's visual of him on her shoulder helping her with driving, is what I need to help me when I slip up.

Seashell724 - good luck with the driving. You aren't the only one who doesn't find it easy; I have 3 relatives who all took a long time to be comfortable and ready to drive.:goodvibes

I had a crappy evening last night, as DD(4yo) got sick last night and was puking repeatedly between 730pm and 3am. I don't think its the dreaded H1N1 and she's home with DH today and no appetite but also no puking so hopefully it was little bug which will quickly disappear. Now I'm just hoping one older DD doesn't get it, since they were sharing a drink earlier yesterday:scared1:
Anyway I didn't get the workout in that I had planned and didn't get up on time to weigh in either, so life isn't going according to plan, but it will get better. :goodvibes.

Thanks Pjlla for coaching last week, and welcome Jenjolt!! You'll do awesome, and started with a fabulous qotd.

I think I would have pooh be my motivational partner. I think he would be so understanding when I dip into the "honey pot" a little too much, but would be encourage me not to give up. He's one determined bear when he wants to get that honey, and i'm sure if we made a pact to keep on a healthy track, he would not be a quitter. Such a fun question.

Lisa- love miss piggy- :rotfl:she would not take any excuses.

Thanks for the happy vacation wishes. I'm home from work, and thrilled to be on vacation. I might check in tomorrow after I'm packed and the house is clean, but if not, have a wonderful week, and I'll be thinking of you all when I make a healthy choice, and also when I have those mickey bars, guilt free. I gotta live you know.

Have a great trip! I'm so jealous!
Will you be back for the NE DisMeet to see Christmas Carol? Check the podcast section for details as they are still being worked out!

Oh man, I am beat! The teachers are playing a basketball game against the cops in December to raise money for our school, and we had our first practice today! I was going to the gym, but after two hours of practice (in which a hall of famer is our coach) I decided I was good for the day. Thankfully my Bodybugg agrees!

I'm nervous about tomorrow because I have a Halloween party with all the supervisors from Worlds of Fun. (Yes, I know Halloween was last week, but we all worked). I'm the type of person, if food is there I will eat it, so I'm nervous.

QOTD: I was going to say Belle because she is one of my favorite characters and I identify most with her, but then I saw Jiminy. Jiminy is very special to me. I was Jiminy and Pinocchio's "friend" a lot for the Disney Dreams Come True Parade. I always joke with my family that I am my own conscience.

That is actually part of my weight loss motivation. You have to be fairly slim for both of those characters. At one point I lost Pinocchio because I gained weight, but I was able to lose 15 lbs and get it back. I wish to return to Disney to perform, and I would not be able to do either of those characters at the weight I am at now. I was actually one of few people approved for Jiminy when the parade opened, so I was his friend a lot. This is a Pinocchio picture, I apparently don't have any Jiminy ones uploaded. This was after being reapproved, but when I look at it I can see how even then I was almost too heavy. ETA: Found a Jiminy photo!

Skipping my workout as I didn't sleep well and will be at a holiday fair all day carrying boxes of books to sell. I'll try and do one tonight if I have any energy left. Very stuffy this morning too.
Need to get off the couch and get showering as I have to leave in an hour.
Going to take 2 yogurts with me and a turkey sandwich so I'm not tempted by all the goodies that will be there. Having a pork tenderloin for supper when I get home.

Hope everyone has a great day!:)

Have fun! Its cold out this morning. About 26 degrees when I got up. Raking will have to wait!

Thanks Bill for the info about Ma. Ds2 is at a conference in MA this weekend.

It is about the same temp here in jersey. Leaves are going to wait. Scouting for Food this weekend and I think I am going to see if they need any help. Then I have to got to the yarn store and buy yarn to knit mittens as Christmas presents to go along with the gift cards I buy people. Lots of knitting to do. I think I just counted almost 20 pairs. The first pair is started.

Have a nice day everyone.

Good Morning All!! You guys had some really great answers and I really enjoyed reading through them all!! You'll have to forgive me for not replying to every single one of yours as a teacher and homecoming and grades being due its a bit of a nuthouse in these parts LOL!!!

I really want to say a huge congrats to our losers this week!! I was a gainer but I'm hoping with the motivation from being the coach this week and really being motivated by all of your answers I can be a loser again! I am going to get off my duff here soon and go for a walk around the neighborhood.

However knowing that the holidays are coming up and knowing that huge temptations lie ahead (at least for me) I wanted to ask you this weekend's QOTD (well two days, tomorrow is church day and I will be very busy with that). It is helpful to me to know what my biggest weaknesses will be and identify them and then come up with a strategy to help me not fall when faced with that.

SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

Okay for me the temptation to overeat all those goodies. I would never ever deprive myself (it's Thanksgiving and Christmas), but I need to be remindful of portion size. I think what I am going to do this year is go invest in the WW serving spoons and use those at dinner so I know exactly what I am putting on my plate.

That is SO cool! I love the pictures. That must be a HUGE incentive to lose weight because it must be amazing to have that job! Glad your BodyBugg is working well for you.

I think that carrying boxes of books sounds like ENOUGH of a workout... especially when you aren't feeling well. And good job packing your food... you can stick with it, even with holiday fair goodies at hand!

SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

Well, I commented on this a few weeks ago. I was already thinking about it and trying to formulate my "holiday eating plan". I think my one tip would be to plan something special that is "lighter" but is still a treat and either serve it at home or bring it along wherever you go for the holiday(s). That way you can be SURE that there will be at least one food you are looking forward to that won't totally push you off the wagon. Last year I brought pineapple angel food cupcakes along to T. giving. I was the only one who ate them (I guess too many other yummy things to choose from).... but at least I was able to have dessert and enjoy it without overindulging. I think this year I will bring a dessert AND a SIDE DISH. DSIL is a FABULOUS cook, but EVERYTHING is coated in cheese and/or butter and/or sauce.... no such thing as a plain low-cal veggie TO BE SEEN! Even the salads are pre-dressed and full of nuts and cheeses! Yummy but deadly.

AND (I know it was supposed to be one tip, but this one is just me thinking out loud).... I will NOT arrive STARVING. I will eat a big salad or something on the way ( it is an hour+ drive) and then it will be easier to avoid the appetizer table!

For anyone who is looking for a place to go out to eat without going totally off plan..... we went to Unos Pizzeria last night. Haven't been there in a while, but I was totally impressed with their new "Nutritional Information" kiosk. It is a little touch-screen computer terminal in the lobby that has all of the NI for ALL of their stuff! It saved me from making a few BIG calorie mistakes last night. I was going to order the Harvest Vegetable Flatbread pizza.... but I discovered that the Roasted eggplant, spinach, and Feta flatbread (on multi-grain) was a few points lower. And the pumpkin soup was yummy for just 4 points. But BEWARE..... MANY of their entrees were listed as TWO servings!!! So if you just look at the calories/fat/fiber, you would be misled!! The flatbread pizza I got was supposed to be 2 or 3 servings. I ate half and ended up at 8 points... not bad for a restaurant meal.

And the desserts are OFF THE CHARTS for calories.... even the mini desserts! I had myself all talked into indulging in a mini bananas foster dessert... until I discovered it was 8 points!! It had 17 grams of FAT!!! Needless to say I skipped it. DH ordered it and I had a few bites of the bananas, but no ice cream/whipped cream. And I had a bite of DD's mini brownie sundae.... but just one bite. So I still enjoyed a bit of dessert... but not an over-the-top amount. Although admittedly, I did have a bit of leftover Halloween candy that I had been planning on indulging in when I got home.... but it was a planned treat that I have been looking forward to ALL WEEK! And it was tasty... and still less points than the restaurant dessert would have been.

Well... DD and I are probably going to do some shopping today....combined Christmas shopping and clothes shopping.... we are both in dire need of long-sleeved shirts... she has about 4 and I have 3.... not enough to get us through a NH winter! Have a great day.............P

Good morning, all!

Kathy, have a safe and wonderful time and enjoy every minute! :goodvibes

I finally made #1 biggest loser and I haven't even had time to get on the boards and look at the results until now! Well, I'm wearing my clippie with pride for a couple days anyway! :cool1:

That clippie looks good on you, Sara! :thumbsup2

LuvBaloo, I think taking care of puking child burns some calories -- you may have to make your own activity on WW for it though . . . hope DD is feeling better soon and that you don't get the bug.

SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

Well, I am lucky because I will have a lot more control over what is served that some of you. It will just be the three of us for Thanksgiving and except for the traditional pie that the boys will make I can make things reasonably healthy and they won't even notice. I will just plan for the pie because, of course, I must have a bit. Christmas will be a little tougher since we will be at WDW. I think I will stick with my original plan, be aware of what I am eating and willing to take a few bites and not eat the whole thing, keep track of those steps, and plan for a few treats.

DS is feeling better this morning and no fever so it is probably just a garden variety cold. I tell myself that I am glad that he is getting this stuff out of his system now. ;)

Have a great day all!

Good morning!

Jessi - I love those pictures! Pinocchio is so adorable. :)

QOTD: SO....what big temptations this holiday season do you know you will be facing and what one tip can you share with us on how you plan to make it through when it gets tough???

This is not the world's coolest tip, but I think the main thing for me on those big meals is to go, make good choices (fruit, vegetables, etc) and enjoy some of the rare holiday foods, but not ALL of the rare holiday foods and stop eating when I'm, full. I never ever want eat to the point of being uncomfortable again.

I don't get invited to a lot of holiday functions, but really I find that with things like cookies, I am better off if I just don't start. It's not really deprivatio in my mind, it's just standing back from the slippery slope. I am going to try to choose things that you can't just pick up and eat from your hands this year. A plate and a fork can make a big difference in how I register eating something.

I am happy happy happy - I am down 1/2, which is not a lot but it IS movement in the right direction, I feel like I'm back on track!:thumbsup2

luvbaloo - a puking kid  I hope she's on the mend! and that you do okay on a day with little sleep

Jess thanks for sharing the pictures! How fun!!

Just thought I would share a before and current as I have been at this for about 6 months now!
