Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Taking care of my youngest is a huge stress reliever for me, even though she's at that mobile-but-doesn't-know-better toddler stage. She's my miracle baby, born after numerous unexplained miscarriages, a year spent trying to come to terms with never having a 3rd child, and DH finally having a vasectomy. She was conceived in that short time between the "big V" and zero count, thanks to DH skipping his follow up appointment and guessing at when it had been long enough, and she was just meant to be I guess because the pregnancy was completely uneventful. So any time I hold her or hug her or even chase her out of the pantry for the 10th time in a day or change a stinky diaper, I'm reminded just how blessed I am.

Yea! I love my baby too , mine turns 1 next Sunday, and yep we are taking her to Disney for her birthday! Hooray for babies!

VOTE FOR OUR BL8 CLIPPIE!

Clippie #2 BL8 Mickey clippie

BL8-Mickey.gif

I like this one!

I vote for clippee #2 - Mickey is a motivator for me, at least trips to the world to see him and his pals really help keep me on track!!!:mickeyjum

QOTD:
Honestly, I haven't found a way to de-stress without eating as I'm definitely an emotional eater...doesn't matter whether I'm happy, or sad. This is something I really have to work on!!!

Clippie #2 has my vote!

so here's Wed QOTD:
Its a fact of life, that you will have to deal with stress. What non-food thing do you do to de-stress?

Anything Disney is great de-stresser for me. The DIS boards, looking at pictures from past trips ect...

Exercise is also a great stress relief for me. I have to get in the habit of making it an everyday thing for me!:yay:

I hope everyone has a magical day! pixiedust:
Molly :disrocks:

Cinderella Girl - sorry to quote your answer as mine - but it pretty much is. Anything Disney destresses me, I love Disney.

Exercise also helps when I get my butt out there which I have to do these days as I am knee keep in training - a 10k coming up end of September, Disney again (with Joints in Motion) in January.

Because I am a Disney nut, my vote is for the Mickey clip - #2.

They are all nice, but its a logical choice for anyone who truly is a Disney addict.

Have a "magical losing day" folks.

Linda

I vote for #2
Mickey is like my little engine that could. I mean he wasn't always perfect but he kept going and and kept a positive spirit.

Walking is my great de-stresser. When my stress levels are high enough I just walk and walk and always feel better when I am done. I tend to read a lot when I am stressed out too. I can feel like I am 'getting away' for a while.

I like clippie #2 best.

MelanieC - :cheer2: congrats on recommitting!!

My vote is for #2, that Mickey is cute.:thumbsup2

Hey guys!!

A newbie here! Happy to join you all... now I just have to find a scale here at college lol

I vote for clippie #2!!!

And for QOTD, I plan our next Disney vacation! I know organization and such can be stressful for some, but I thrive in it!

So, as for Biggest Loser last night. Does anyone else love Jillian Michaels because she's a hard ***, but love her even more when she cries?? It just makes me happy to know that the person training me has more emotions than just barking orders in my head :rotfl:

Which is why I didn't reveal anything. I usually skip spoiler threads all together. I didn't let anything slip did I?

No, you did a great job! Not everyone is as always as careful/thoughtful (myself included) and it is fun to be able to discuss freely which is why I thought the separate thread might be fun.

This is so crucial. So much of the senseless snacking I've done in the past has been "comfort breaks" as another wise WISHer coined the term on his blog Panda Endurance

I mentioned earlier having a cup of hot tea - that always seems to help. Massage is good, too, whether performed by a professional, myself or a friend or family member, it's definitely a stress reliever. Exercise has been metioned as well, and I'll second that! Nothing clears my head faster than a run, but that's more of a time commitment.

I vote for clippie#2.

As for dealing with stress in a non-food way:

Sometimes I get so stressed I just have to take a nap as not to eat everything in the house.

I do enjoy my adult beverages- and have the point values on each of my favorite drinks- does that count? :rolleyes1

Soccer and disney are my guilty pleasures- I always have trip or practice planning, online message boards for both, and of course I love to go out and play with my girls.

Hmmmm...well I do find taking a few moments to indulge in my Disney OCD is very destressful on a rough day!!!

I also destress by exercising, since I have started exercising I have noticed I'm a lot calmer about a lot of things and I really seem more relaxed, so it does help...must be those endorphines LOL!

I also treat myself every 2 weeks to a pedicure and manicure on Saturday Morning. That is my time to get pampered and just relax before I run all my errands that day!!

I also vote for clippie # 2. I love it.
I have a question about clippies, how do you put them in your signature?
Molly :)

I also like #2.

I like to get online or read when stressd but mostly just talk about it with my wonderful husband. That always helps.

On a side note, we had donuts for someone's bday at work today and I went down without my peach (which I had originally brought for break) and had every intention on getting one. When I looked at them on the table it just wasn't worth it. So, I ate my peach and was fine and dandy. Woohoo!

Hi - right click on the clippie we decide on and copy the URL. Click the User CP up in the top left hand corner of the DIS. Click on Edit Signature on the left hand side. Insert your cursor in the part of your signature you want to place the clippie. Click on the insert link button (looks like Earth with glasses (not sure if they are supposed to be glasses, lol). Paste the link in the box that pops up. click Save signature.

Hang in there a little longer on the clippie - the final version is coming!!!

Funny all the stress I had over the past few months, I dealt with by crying, eating, and drinking. Since last tuesday, I've been trying to get on the wii-fit, or play a game with my son, or come on the disboards, ans stay out of the kitchen. I also love to plan vacations. Crying is a good stress reliever, but I do feel exhausted after a good cry, and then need a nap.
I DIS, of course, and plan trips. :surfweb: DH swears you can tell the stress level of the previous year in our household by the number, length and scope of our vacations. :rotfl: He's right, too - our longest, most expensive, most elaborately planned Disney trip came after the worst year of our married life, and next year is going to be peppered with trips (including a big, ridiculously overplanned Disney trip) after a year full of changes that were mostly positive but nonetheless stressful.
:
I love to plan trips too. I've planed ireland and dude ranch trips on line, and one day we'll actually take them. Seems like I tend to defer them for later, and go to disney.:rotfl: I find our disney trips to be so low stress now that after 4 trips in 3 years, I've realized that each trip won't be my last one, I definitely relax more.

Woo! Hoo! Way to go on the exercise! :cheer2: Thanks for inspiring me because I need some motivation in this area. :goodvibes

Oh, stress, the single most thing that will derail all my carefully laid plans and good intentions in the wink of an eye. When stressful things come along, I think of the wise words of pjlla who said "you can't control what happens to you, you can only control your reaction." So I try to remember that.
The wii is definitely motivating, and now with michael doing it, there's a little competition. He came in the morning while I was in the shower to tell me that I was in first and second place in the one man run, but he's trying to beat me. When we did the 2 person run, he smoked me. :rotfl:

That pjlla is a wise woman. I think of those words often these days, and so far, it's working. That, and being strong in the grocery store this week, there's not much unhealthy left in my kitchen.

I've been having trouble staying on track. Not one day since we started have I had a good day. I think its because I've had so many days in the past month and a half of eating out and being on vacation. I was able to get back on track after Disney, but it's proving harder after the Vegas trip.

So today I'm recommiting. I got up and had oat bran with a banana and raw almond butter. I need to get a handle on this.

Did anyone see the report on how saturated fat triggers your brain not to know its full and this is how they believe binge eaters get in trouble. Interesting.
It's a beautiful day to recommit! You can do this Melanie. You are right back in the wagon, and we all will stay there this time.
That's interesting about the saturated fat.

I haven't tried the wii free step - for some reason I'm intimidated. Don't ask me to explain that one!! :lmao: It said you can do it while you enjoy your tv shows...does it still have steps to follow or do you just climb on and off for as long as you can?

:
You should give it a try. I know tigger explained it, but yesterday was the first time I did it for 30 min, and it was great. I go side to side sometimes too, and forward also, but mostly up and down, but while I was watching biggest loser it really kept my mind occupied, and it was easy to finish.
I'm looking forward to this challenge. I really want this. I feel like this is a perfect time. I have started a new job as a sped teacher. My class is tough and there has not been a day where I have not felt like crying at the end. If I don't take care of myself, I am going to hit burnout very quickly. The one nice thing is that I will get a lot of exercise at school. We do activity bursts that have to equal to 30 minutes. Plus, I do a lot of phsyical things with my class to help meet their sensory needs. Not to mention I have one runner and it is not unusual to see me sprinting after him down the hallway or across the field on the playground. Then at Worlds of Fun I am on my feet all day, walking back and forth. One of my rides has a manual brake that I have to pump them every time I stop the ride (a high speed spinny ride). It is like doing a leg workout every few minutes!
.
Hi Jessi. That must be a very difficult job, and we are lucky to have people like you there to do it. Sounds like you're getting lots of exercise, and with today's qotd about stress, maybe you'll get more ideas to keep the stress level down so you don't burn out.

I'm going to do the first 30 minutes on the wi free step during the show too! I already had my Skinny Cow bar for the day but am enjoying another 16 oz glass of water!
That worked out great, didn't it? The exercise gave me enough energy so I wasn't fallling asleep during the rest of the show, which is when I tend to get up and eat, and the ice cream bar was just enough.

On the clippie- I like #2 with mickey mouse, though they are all very cute.
As far as putting them in the siggie, I also have a hard time, but hopefully one of you computer literate peeps will post the link in the thread, and we slow folks can just copy it and add the brackets or whatever. I'm so clueless.

Shortynbug- way to go on the donuts!!:cool1:

dona- just want you to know I thought of you and the cow when bob and jillian were pushing the water and brita filter last night.:thumbsup2
