Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

And people wonder how Anorexia starts....I just hope no contestant EVER reads a single message board. Nothing bolsters the self esteem like millions of strangers saying how awful you look!

Nobody was "the bad guy" this year . Even Ron wasn't so bad. Everyone worked their butts off to get where they were. Kudos to them.

I wonder if the show will put Max on the next season??

I'm going to be very interested to listen to Jillian's podcast of her call-in radio show this Sunday to hear what she says about Helen. She says to her callers again and again that being too skinny is not healthy for you. Jillian herself weighs more than Helen does and she's 3 inches shorter!

Here's a link to it ... she does it on Sunday mornings:

True, There was no one I disliked as much as last year. Which I still think was the worst season. It was sickening watching them.

As much as I wish Max could be on the show, I think he's under 18.

I was happy for Dan. I wouldn't mind seeing him on again. He still has alot to lose. But he's doing great!

I was upset Helen won. I was wondering if she took water pills or something the final week to get super thin for the finale. I thought Mike and Tara looked AWESOME, although I think I like Tara better without makeup...think she should use a more neutral color.

I was so happy for Jerry. I had been rooting for him from day one and was so sad to see him get booted so early. I'm glad he did so well at home.

It did seem to me that David gained weight since he left the show. He seems to be struggling the most out of all the contestants. I was even happy to see that Carla and Joelle made up.

I do wish they'd show a tad bit less filler so they can have more time at the end. I mean they finished the at home people at 10 so had an hour for the final 3 but then it's rushed the final few minutes. I was wondering too, what if it was Tara's time of the month...you can retain a few pounds right there...might have cost her $250K. I was rooting for her to win, but was happy to see she looked so good.

I couldn't even look at Helen, she looked so bad, and I don't get why she was standing in such an odd way. I didn't think that Tara looked so good, either. During the season her hair always looked so nice but last night it looked awful. It was a mess and it looked like it was really thinning. I think that Mike looked the healthiest.

I liked the way that Sione and Filipe were so excited about their weight loss regardless of the fact that they didn't win. I know a lot of people don't like them but I do.

One more thing ... the wiki appears to be up to date with all the weigh-ins.

So ... does this mean that Bob finally won even though Jillian trained Helen too?

Bob should get some credit...but she was only with him for like the first month. Then she switched to Jullian and then she (& Mike) CHOSE Jullian. So technically There were both more under Jullian than Bob.

Ali was under both for the exact same # of weeks and both take the credit...although people only remember her on Jullian's team at the end with Bob's 4 "boys" doing their best to eliminate the last few girls but they failed as both Ali and that other woman on Jullian's team made it. Karma.

Then Michelle was with Jullian the whole time and I think that is why she chose to wear black for the finally instead of Pink.

3 women Winners...all Pink...weird. I wrote off Helen but I'm glad she won and I don't really think that she's too thin. someone said she's 3lbs away from being under...so that's great!! She's right within her range for her size. I was always 3lbs from being "too heavy" and I felt fat and I looked fat.

I can be nothing but proud of her. I'm just glad Mike didn't win. He was way too cocky in the end. It's his youth, probably. At least it was close. Both Mike and Tara were within like 5 or 6 lbs of winning.

Sorry, but I think that IF Helen was to develop anorexia is it well on the way. Don't lay that on our door of anonymous board posters. She dropped 30 pounds in 6 weeks when she was ALREADY A SIZE 8.

When you grow up with not one but TWO anorexic sisters (one of which was hospitalized with the feeding tube up her nose at 85lbs) you develop a sensitivity to people will-nilly tossing the word around as well as people talking about how horrible someone with a weight problem looks, even AFTER they dropped all the weight. ...no matter what they do, they'll never look good enough to somebody.

I doubt she's anerexic. Did you not here that she had 2 trainers? did you not hear here tryto go into some details of the type of training she was doing? Just b/c someone is 117 lbs doesn't make them anorexic. Have you even seen the women (and girls) of Hollywood these days? Will she probably gain 5-10 lbs afterwords...the winners all seem to gain that much back, at least. Some of the men have had to gain 30-40 lbs to be at a more sustainable weight.

Think about it. You go from working out 6 hours a day...to still working out that much b/c you're in a competition for money...to working out at a normal level of 30 min to 1.5 hours...you're bound to gain some back. Even Ali had gained like 5 lbs or so. Also they take lots of laxatives and probably sweat some weight off...and other things that final week prior to the weigh in so that they are at the lowest weight possible.

Also, I don't know about this year...but in years past there's been lots of video taken of "after the finale" where they interview the finalists, the winners, and a few cast members that were more popular. Just check on the nbc website or perhaps even the official Biggest Loser website.

{{hugs}} What a tough road for you and your family!

I didn't see where anyone said the word "anorexic" until you used it. I might have missed it though. I did mention that I would hate to see Helen exchange one eating disorder for another one. Unfortunately, I can't wrap my mind around a healthy way to lose 30 lbs in 6 weeks and get all the way down to 3 lbs from being underweight. I think that's a dangerous weight loss and not a healthy one. Let me put this in perceptive: she lost 20% of her body weight in 6 weeks.

I know what you're saying about the possibility that Helen internalize when people say that she (still) doesn't look good and think that she needs lose more weight when what everyone is really saying is that she needs to GAIN weight. I know that people with eating disorders don't "get" that ... that when people seen someone too skinny they still see someone too fat. FWIW, I thought she looked great when she tried on her size 8 goal clothes back on week 17 when she was a still "normal BMI" and 37 pounds heavier!

I really do wish Helen all the best. I am also 48-years old and she has been an inspiration to me and I started the Couch to 5K program because if Helen can run a marathon, I can run a 5K.

All the finalists tend to lose more than they "should" in order to win. As a pp said, most do gain back a few pounds to a more "natural" weight (for their bodies).

You have to congrat Helen for doing the job to win. I did want Tara to win though. Ron aggravated me with his "what I say goes" style of game play so I was glad he did win. I didn't want Mike to win either as that would have pleased Ron.

I understand filming of the next season starts today so as least we'll have a time line for how long they are home for before the finale.

I too think it would be interesting to have a season with former contestants who didn't meet their goal due to being sent home early or not quite "getting it" while on the ranch.

I was disappointed, I was really pulling for Tara. With Mike a close second. I do think Helen looks very thin, but basically they have all lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. She definitely doesn't need to lose anymore. I mean her skin is hanging. But I was happy for her and impressed that a woman her age (heck make that my age, I'm 44 so right there with her) could compete agains people so much younger. But I thought she was borderline looking unhealthy and that while Tara "lost", she looks much better. Helen was just not my favorite.

My biggest and really only problem with Helen was sending her daughter home. I mean Ron and Cathy did whatever they had to do to keep their kids on the show. When they replayed the tape of Helen's daughter crying saying something to the affect of "I want to do what my mom wants" it broke my heart. That girl still has quite a bit of weight to lose. So to me, Helen's vistory is hollow. Oh yeah the cookie incident didn't endear her to me. So she won, but in all honesty, if she doesn't watch it, she'll have a whole new problem to deal with. I suspect she'll gain a bit back and settle in once she's not working to win 250K. I mean, with stakes that high, is it any wonder you don't see contestants getting too thin? I remember thinking both Phil and Amy looked on the too thin side at last season's finale.

If America had voted for Ron, Mike would be 100K richer. Is that right? So all of Ron's lobbying for his son actually didn't do him any good. Ahh the joys of the game!

I was happy to see Joelle and Carla seem to be mending fences, but disappointed that when Joelle reached out to hug Kristen, Kristen basically ignored her. I still feel like Joell was definitely not the best contestant, but also really treated badly. I mean how many times do we have to see Bob screaming at her? We get it that she had some issues, but I think it got to almost witch hunt proportions where she was concerned. I think its a shame Kristen is still so angry at Joelle. Joelle seemed happy for everyone too bad everyone couldn't be happy and just get over it where she was concerned.

I was thrilled for Jerry. But sad for David. I fear he just has no support at home. Really sad.

All in all, this season had some drama, game playing and some people I liked better than others. But in all, they were a good group of people. So much better than the Heba/Vicky season.

I did not want Helen to win, she's bugged me all season. But, oh well, there were some amazing transformations all around. BTW, Filipe looked awesome, he's my fave!

I thought her hair looked awful too and even made that comment to my DH.

*snicker* And Mr. Ron the "King Maker" kept Helen and sent Kristen home because he thought she was the bigger threat. Good call, Ron :thumbsup2.

I'm thankful they didn't have time to interview Helen at the end of the show. She had been asking for "audience love" as soon as she walked out on that stage. I felt she was definitely a "me, me, I" woman .... so much so she elbowed her daughter out of the way to get to where she was. I truly felt sorry for her daughter.

I thought Tara and Mike both looked wonderful. Helen's lost too much and doesn't look healthy at all. I think some of her posture had to do with the 5" heels she was wearing .... ;)

I would have been happy with either Tara or Mike winning and hope they both have a bright future.

I forgot about that! Well Vicki and Heba did their share of game playing and it bit them too. Heba should have won 150K more than she did, and if she hadn't been such a female dog, maybe more people would have voted for her last season! Karma is always the winner and way smarter than the game players of the world.;)

I think it was Bob who time and again, mentioned Helen as this major threat nobody was seeing.

I got on nbc.com and saw Tara's post show interview. She looked very happy. I think she came out a winner as did Mike. All Helen's and Rons aside.
