Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

My WW week starts tomorrow and I am starting fresh, as if I've never been on WW before and have that "you have to be perfect your first week" feeling. I lost 3.8 lbs my very first week on WW back in 2008 and 8+ when I recommitted a few weeks ago. I need to get on the wagon and stay on it. I WILL DO THIS!

I may have figured out what is stressing me out so much. I'm looking into moving out of my parents' house. It's a big decision for me. I have a lot to consider before I can make any kind of decision. All I know for sure is that if I move out, it will be to somewhere closer to where I work.

Thanks for all the support! :)

QOTD: I have a fake tooth (an implant). An adult tooth never grew in and my orthodontist figured out it is genetic. My sister has an implant too-in the exact same spot. My mother has something going on with her tooth in that same spot. I'm not sure what's up with her tooth, but it seems to have effected us. :confused3

Mini-Challenge for Thursday, 5/12: Smile as frequently as possible.

Thank you all for the great replys and yes I definitely want to join the summer group. I made a promise to my dad who passed away 25 years ago with cancer at the same age I am. I promised him if he helped me get through this I would get my body and mind in physical condition...
I was asked how the mole was discovered. I was always a person to take my kids to the doctors regularly and I work at a doctors office but never had a regular physical since my daughter was born 19 years ago.
two of my kids asked me to get a complete physical. that was what they wanted for Christmas so I scheduled and sure enough the doctor saw what she thought was a suspicious mole. She made me get a punch biopsy the next day. 5 days later it came back positive with melanoma. lucky for me because I work for a doctor they called in favors and I was in Syracuse at the dermotologist the next day.
My dad always told me not to smoke and not to drink to much but he never told me not to enjoy the sun. So I have added one more thing to my kids and grandkids list.

Another good day here. Hunter (and DH's) team won their game tonight. I used my 30% off coupon at Kohls and found some great early bird specials to boot :cool1: Received a call from the VA as I was leaving Kohl's and my background check has already been completed and I have an official start date for my new job :cool1::cool1:May 23rd. That gives me a week to get some projects done around the house and to hit as many of my kids games as possible. I'm hoping to get our main bathroom redone between now and then. I found the shower curtain and accessories on clearance at Kohl's today before I knew I had the job for sure.

Today's QOTD: Something that you might not know about me. Wow, I'm pretty much an open book. You all know that I'm determined and failure is not an option at anything. I'm crafty and very mechanically inclined. There is probably nothing around the house that I can't do or haven't done. My family is always my number one priority. I strongly believe that sleep is for rookies and I can do that when I die...so I'm always busy. I love to travel and will work lots of jobs to provide the money to support our travels. I guess that you might not know that deep down I'm pretty insecure and have to push myself outside of the box.

Hi! Well, just got off the phone with the Pool Pres and he agrees with my concerns and wants to address them and make the corrections needed. I guess this means that I am still on the board-- especially since I am going to be helping. He is really a wonderful guy that is trying very hard with a mostly female board with all that a group of women tend to bring with them  and an ingrained mindset of "We have never done it that way/This is the way we have always done it". :sad2:

DD15 will not be able to swim anymore. The MRI showed that there is no major damage but if she continues to "stress" it she will have constant pain and inflammation. She is not dedicated enough to swimming to warrant surgery and several months of PT didn't do anything to help. She can function fine in daily life so we will leave well enough alone. She is even on modified PE and can't do anything that would put strain on the shoulder like frisbee or arm hang.

So DD11 will swim this year and DD15 is going to be sort of a "Jr. Manager" and assist the coach and help with paperwork and kid wrangling. She loves the little ones and they get the teens to help out with the little ones for practices and meets. I think she will actually enjoy that more than swimming.

I had a good day today. Went out to lunch with a friend I only see a few times a year and had a great light salad and carrot soup (need to find a recipe for this!). Dinner was high in protein and veggies and low on carbs so completely on program. I think I am at a point where I need to be in the house less so I have less time to snack on crap.

Went to a bunch of places today looking for a makeup kit for DD15's best friend's birthday on Saturday and finally found one at the mall.

I'm tired tonight. Can't decide if I should have a cup of coffee or just go to bed. I have a bunch of paper organizing I need to do so maybe I should go for the coffee. Didn't get anything done today.

Good Thursday morning Teams

I can't get started this morning. I woke up at 3 coughing and got up so I wouldn't wake up dh. I did fall asleep for a little while but I still feel a little groggy. Once I get movingg I will be fine.

Question of the Day

Will you be joining us for the Summer Challenge?

I will be joining this summer. I have not been able to get into losing weight this challenge and I am hoping that I get some more motivation this summer.

Have to go and get ready for work.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Morning all,

It was a long night. Brian's pager went off at some ungodly hour and that woke me up. Then the alarm went off so I reset it. I feel like I could sleep another 8 hours. Hoping I don't have to stay at work until 2 today. I would love to run back to Costco and get the stuff I couldn't last night. I also hope to get back to TJs to get more chicken burgers and mushroom ravioli.

Need to make Izzie's breakfast now. I plan on eating well today. I'm down 3.4 for the week surprisingly. I guess I drank enough water to counteract what I ate yesterday. Plus I didn't work out yesterday and probably won't have time later though I will try.

TTFN :tigger:

Yup-between training for the 1/2s in Sept/Oct and wanting to kick the last 15 lbs to the curb I'll be back :)

My day yesterday ended up better than expected. I did have some treats (hello Dairy Queen!) but I ran my 5K route again and timed myself and I have an "unofficial" time of 47.21. A benchmark to improve on. Scale is down .5 today.

Wowzer :scared1: When do you need to make a decision by?
I was in a rap group in high school.

I guess technically as long as we have an address before school starts so we can register DS for school we are good. I am feeling very stressed that this trip is going to end with no decisions made. Some of those 60 houses were outside the school zone we want just to see what is out there and what is available in new construction to see a comparison. Didn't see anything "perfect" after looking at some new ones yesterday and some 2nd showings. Eventually we'll have to settle if we can't find "perfect". They are all perfectly fine though and would work - just little things like this one doesn't have an island in the kitchen, this one doesn't have a screened in porch, etc.

I don't think Rap music had started when I was in HS :rotfl2:

The good news is that I can make the trip to Disney with my family this upcoming weekend as long as I do very minimal walking. It will be my first experience with a scooter but I hope it will still be fun....

Enjoy your trip! Sorry about your experience but thanks for the warning!
I have many many moles and skin tags! I have a really bad one on my arm that people are constantly pointing out to me. I had it checked and it's a Seborrheic keratosis, commonly called a "skin barnacle". I will be prone to getting more- ugh, they are quite unsightly.

9/2/2011 ????
9/9/2011 ????

Hey Rose, I am too lazy to send a PM - can you put me down to coach one of these 2 weeks. I think I will be settled back in somewhere by that time!

One of the things you don't know about me was that I was a baton twirler for 5 years...and won 2nd place in Showstoppers Competition. My high school didn't have a marching band so my twirling went out the window after middle school.

I was a majorette in High School and taught baton lessons to little girls to make extra $. I wish I had kept it up in College too.

Sorry to hear about your friend. The day at the shore sounds nice. Hope the knee is feeling better. I know I've mentioned this here before but the German word for knee is the same but they also pronounce the k so it sounds like "K-nee" when they say it. It cracks me up!

Hi Team,

P90X day 2 Cardio was alot more fun than the first DVD. It feels so good to use those muscles that have been hibernating. Im glad my dh is doing this with me because I can already hear the excuses starting in my head.:rotfl:

I think tonight I may try to fit a run in too. I also need to drink more water!!!!! I forgot my bottle at home so this will be a bit more challenging today.

Otherwise life is good at the moment. Its beautiful and sunny out! Now if I could just hit the lottery so I can be outside all day to enjoy it life would be even better.:rotfl2:

It will be interesting to see how your running improves as you do the P90X. Good luck with the lottery:rotfl2: That would sure make my house hunting a lot easier!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm home today and catching up on laundry, etc. Suitcases are empty and I have just a few last things to put away. As soon as I have a chance I PROMISE I will read what I've missed and tell a few details about our trip (other than the predicted 5 pounds that I gained!! ;)) and hopefully put up a few pictures!!

I've really missed talking with you all and as soon as I have some time, I promise I'll be back to chat...................P

Welcome back! You know you will get those 5 lbs right off! Looking forward to trip details

As I sit here after polishing off the rest of michael's white chocolate bunny I figured I should post and say hello, and hope that will at least get me moving in the right direction again. :rolleyes1

I feel better just coming here and once again for the millionth time saying I am going to get back on track.

My 5k is in 5 weeks, and I mentioned it to some girls at work, and a few of them are going to do it too, some walking, and some run/walking. I definitely want to get my speed up to finish in under 40 min, so I need to get out more than 2 days a week. Since I caught up tongiht, I don't need to come on in the morning and I can go for a quick run instead. :thumbsup2 I need to do it.

Never give up!! Trying and getting back in the wagon is so much better than giving up. :goodvibes Have a great night everyone!!

Put down the bunny!!! If you are like me, I have an issue "finishing" things. I am trying to learn to "taste" things more and not have that voice in my head telling me to eat the whole thing!

As long as we keep telling ourselves not to quit and to keep getting back on track, we will be succesful in the long run, right? Being around my family this week makes me realize how much I've changed. I've tried to talk to them about a few simple changes but it is falling on deaf ears. It makes me proud of myself that I have developed a healthier lifestyle.

I think under 40 mins is a good goal for me too. Enjoy your run today!

Mini-Challenge for Thursday, 5/12: Smile as frequently as possible.

:cool1: for a fresh attitude!!!!!!!!!!! Love that. It is rubbing off on me too!
Good luck with your decision to move out and looking for a place. It is not easy but I think you will really enjoy it once you get settled into your own place. Have you thought about moving in with a friend? My son has a missing tooth as well. Our ortho thought it best to close the gap with manipulation so hopefully that will last throughtout his adult life. It is genetic and I read on the Internet that supposedly it is a common trait amongst Native Americans and it is thought to be passed down through their ancestory.

I guess that you might not know that deep down I'm pretty insecure and have to push myself outside of the box.

Wow, that really doesn't sound like you! You do a good job of hiding it.
:cool1: for the job confirmation!

Didn't get anything done today.

Hmmmm, it sounded like you got several things done to me!:goodvibes
Lunch w/friend, found needed gift, worked on pool board situation with phone call.

I will be joining this summer. I have not been able to get into losing weight this challenge and I am hoping that I get some more motivation this summer.

YES!!! I'm definitely joining. These challenges keep me going! Just the thought that they might end one day is :woohoo:

I'm down 3.4 for the week surprisingly. I guess I drank enough water to counteract what I ate yesterday. Plus I didn't work out yesterday and probably won't have time later though I will try.

TTFN :tigger:

:cool1:

Only have 3 houses to look at today. Basically I guess what this trip has done is narrowed down that I want one certain school zone, I want a house in one of two n'hoods and the certain features that I can expect to get in my price and what is a good deal. That really narrows down my choices. I suppose I will have to come back in July when DH is visiting. Then, he does not want me to return to Germany again. He is going back until his last day at work in late July. He says the company will only pay to fly us over and back so many times and I know that's true. Feeling pressure!!!!
We really do not want to rent and have to move twice. That just locks us into a one year rental contract and then we have another window to move again next Summer. And, what if we don't find anything again then? We really need to find something soon!

Have a great day all!

Shawnprincess:

Forgot to say congrats to all our Biggest Losers!!!!!!!!!!!

And, Sparks you look amazing! What a difference! I bet you feel so much better. VERY motivating for me! Thanks for posting!

Shawnprincess:

Shawn--I will put you down as tentative for the first week, but I think right now one of those weeks might be an off week and one might be the next challenge. So I will put you down with the ?? still there. Just wanted to let you know what was up.:goodvibes
Thanks!

Congrats to all the Losers and Maintainers!!!!:cool1:

One more week everyone (well 1 week and 1 day)! Let's make this one count.:goodvibes

My inner child is coming out today. I don't wanna go to work. It's going to be in 90 again today and back in the 60s for the weekend. Yuck!

I did strength last night and it went ok except for the lunges on my left knee. So I took it very easy and for part of the time did some extra squats. I also did 10 min on the elliptical. Not much, but that gave me 60 min of exercise yesterday + a 15 min walk with Mike. Tonight we are pool running. And I'm going to get him to show me how to do the pullup assist at the Y.

I think that's it. My weight has finally started moving down again. I have been sitting at the very high end of my maintain for a week or so and not liking it at all. I am hoping to end up the challenge at the bottom of my maintain so that I won't come back from our trip too far out of my zone.

Have a great day!

Thanks everyone. I do feel a huge difference in the way I feel and how much energy I have. I can actually go to the park with DD and climb and play on the equipment with her and run around without almost dying lol.

I'm having a bad week though. MIL was here last week and I feel like all we did was EAT EAT EAT lol and we ate out A LOT. I tried my best to behave but I think it's catching up with me as I've only gained this week. not much but I'm not losing and I don't LIKE IT lol. So I need to get myself back on track.

I will be joining for the summer challenge but I don't know how much I'll be able to post. Now that the weather is nice we'll be out a lot during the day tryign to tire DD out each day lol.

Good morning everyone!

Good morning everyones special hi to my former team Mickey. I just wanted to send and update on whats going on. After my surgery for the melanoma March 16th things have been slow. The county nurse that came in when I got home put the wrong bandage on the open wound where the skin graph was placed. This resulted in part of it drying up and dying. I have been basically in bed toes above the nose since. i have battled infection went to the doctors yesterday things are looking better but we are now waiting for the areas that the graph died to grow new skin a slow process. I am to remain off my feet as much as possible until its healed (he said sould be in about 6 more weeks) UGGH
The good news is that I can make the trip to Disney with my family this upcoming weekend as long as I do very minimal walking. It will be my first experience with a scooter but I hope it will still be fun....
I guess a better view than my own home will be a good change and hopefully pick up my spirits.
Please to both teams use sunscreen. I loved the sun so much and I loved using tanning beds as well (never thought it would be me) I now have a large hole in my leg the size of a tennis ball or larger and 4 inch incision where they took out the lymph nodes in my groin area and a large red spot on my thigh were they took the graph from. Do not follow me..... Check any moles you may have as thats where mine started. I would be willing to share very graphic pics of what my leg looks like now if you send private message. very sickning to look at I will probably never go out in public again with it showing.
Thanks for all the comfort and support to the team and the Dis boards itself as they have meant so much to me over the past few months.

Sorry to hear about everything that you've been going through. Hopefully going to WDW will boost your spirits a bit.

No diagnosis yet, though myeloma is what is suspected!

Oh no, I hope it all works out  Hang in there!

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv, so feel free to ignore me.:thumbsup2 I have had some nasty issues with shin splints in the past. It's usually the reason I stop running. This time when I started running again I did things differently and have had no issues. One school of thought is that shin splints are caused/made worse by tight calves. This time I very, very rarely run on consecutive days. I very rarely run more than 3 or 4 days a week. What I do a lot of is cross training--strength class and the elliptical. Some folks will argue that the elliptical should not be considered cross training, but for me it worked great. I could just not stretch my calves enough--probably mostly because I'm impatient. But because of the way the elliptical works it's essentially stretching my calves the entire time I'm doing it.

Anyhow, three things to try--not running consecutive days, icing your shins after every run at least until you have been pain free for a while, and some form of calf stretching. Good luck!

I am feeling my age I tell you. So I went walking/running again last night and now when I walk up the stairs, my knee clicks. I've had knee problems in the past so I always used the elliptical without issues when I had a gym membership, so maybe that's the reason why I never got into running. If my DH decides to buy a treadmill I will just have to convince him to get an elliptical instead. I guess I'll switch over to fast walking instead.

I definitely need to stretch, I think you're right about that. Do you think fast walking is okay without taking days off in between?

I'm being lazy and getting a pedicure tonight for my cruise so I won't be doing either tonight, but tomorrow is another story.

One of the things you don't know about me was that I was a baton twirler for 5 years...and won 2nd place in Showstoppers Competition. My high school didn't have a marching band so my twirling went out the window after middle school.

Wow, I don't think I know any baton twirlers! Now I do :goodvibes

P90X day 2 Cardio was alot more fun than the first DVD. It feels so good to use those muscles that have been hibernating. Im glad my dh is doing this with me because I can already hear the excuses starting in my head.:rotfl:

I think I may have to look into those dvd's. Sounds like you enjoy them.

What a great week you had. Keep up the good work. We have a very special clippie reserved for our weekly Biggest Loser. Wear it with pride this week! :

Great job everyone, keep up the good work. Yay tipsytrtle you go :cool1:

Just talked to my mom. Her MRI took 3 hours but she did ok. Her appointment is tomorrow at 2:20. It's going to be a long day! Of course, today has been long!

Hope everything goes well today

What theme did your daughter go with for her b-day?

Sue -Nice job on doing some run walking!! Do I sense a disney race in your future?????? You must be getting so excited for your cruise.

Thanks, I didn't do very well and now my darn knee cracks when I walk up the stairs :rotfl: I'm getting old I guess.

I'm so excited and glad to not have to work or go house hunting. It always ends in a fight. Went to look at a house in Georgetown, but it's just not Danvers :(

Sorry to hear about DD, but it sounds like she's okay with it.

Question of the Day

Will you be joining us for the Summer Challenge?

Yesiree! I will be here. I think I may just be a maintainer. I think trying for an extra 5 founds was too much, so now I'll just try to maintain and tone what I have :goodvibes

Sorry if I missed it, but how long are you here for and when do you come back for good? Is everyone back with you or is DH still in Germany?

Pamela, have a wonderful time on your trip! And bring your drink coupons just in case that SWA flight attendant gave me bad info -- I'll buy for you if she did!

Didn't have free drinks for Cinco De Mayo, but they will/did have them for Moms on mother's day, Dads on Father's Day, and military folks on Memorial Day. I had my coupons along and enjoyed a Michelob Ultra beer with a handful of peanut butter M&Ms! (I love the beer/chocolate combo!)

Ummm, I think I'm jealous. It's 6 o'clock. Are you up and running to emh this morning or did you have one too many free drinks on the flight. Have a fabulous time!!

We made EVERY SINGLE EMH while we were there!! Both the morning AND evening ones!

I love vacations, and really they are a big highlight of my life. The planning, the anticipation, and then the actual trip, even if it's just for a weekend.

Me too!!

We're going to the beach in Maine this weekend, just for saturday night and if the weather is good sunday will go to a minor league baseball game. My real vacation is the last 2 weeks of august, and the first week we're renting a house on Sebago lake with my brother and sister and families, and my other sister will be there in her trailer. Just one brother won't be there, and we hope they might come for a weekend.
my second week, michael and I usually do something just the 2 of us. Of course I'll be pricing a few more disney trips, before then, but I really can't do that, so I think we're going to go to cape cod for a few days, and take the ferry to martha's vineyard for a day, and bike over there, and bike some fo the cape cod trails. We'll do a day trip to Canobie lake amusement park, and maybe Six Flags too. As I add on things we'll do, I tally the price of them in my head, and hope it will be near enough to a disney trip, so we can do that instead, but they're really not.

I'll keep my ears open for any Canobie discounts or specials. I am not particularly fond of it, but we usually end up hitting it at least once a summer.... usually with a group like swim team or robotics. Never been to Six Flags..... I always want to save my money for Disney instead.

I almost forgot--my DS is coming home today.I'm excited, and a little nervous. He has not lived at home for more than a couple of weeks for two years. Could be an interesting summer. I will not stress eat, I will not stress eat, I will not stress eat.

You will NOT stress eat!

Happy Friday everyone!
I had my shoulder manipulation last Friday. (thanks for the good wishes they really worked!) I am doing GREAT!! Very little pain. I am TONS better!! I am doing PT, but they think I will only go one more week then they will dismiss me. I am amazed that I struggles so long and the cure was so simple!

So back to exercising. I am down several pounds and I think it is just from resuming my normal activities finally!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm so pleased to hear that your manipulation went so well!

Thanks for asking. I know it has been awhile since I have checked the boards (I keep posting my weights though, thanks Tracey for monitoring us, and I saw your question regarding Caleb.

Caleb is doing great. He had his first shot of chemo (three doses) a few weeks ago and his last blood check showed that his white blood count was down, just as expected because that means the drugs are doing its job. His counts will be coming back up and he then gets his second dose in two more weeks.

He has not been ill and he still has his hair (what little he had anyway) and has been just a little more fussy than normal.. And Melissa and Kyle are doing great. I am so proud of my little girl, she is a rock.

Keep up the good work, and thanks again for thinking of my family.

Dave

I think of Caleb often and continue to pray! THanks for keeping us up to date.

Afternoon all-

Here's what I know.

My mom will be having a full body MRI on Wednesday. They found lesions on her lumbar and pelvic bone. They are not sure what it is as of yet. It could be myeloma but he doctor is taking things one day at a time and one step at a time. My sister really liked the doctor and they also spoke to a social worker who knows all that is going on with my parents right now. She suggested my mom go home and do some gardening as that relaxes her. They want to put her on anxiety meds but she would have to give up her wine so that is still in discussions.

Sounds like they are still looking for the primary tumor spot? Keep us informed and prayers are continuing.

Any NE folks, check out the podcast thread about a meet to see CARS 2 to benefit Give Kids the World! At least 4 of the podcast team will be attending! The meet will take place in Fitchburg, MA!

Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2710197

This is going to be AWESOME!!!!

I gotta check that out! The date wouldn't be great, but I might be able to make it work.

Good Saturday morning Teams
I had a fun time yesterday at the museum. We had a great adventure getting to the museum. We got on the 6:40 train to the city. There were 4 of us traveling together. We got shushed from a regular commuter. That just cracked us up and that started the day.

we were going to travel uptown on the subway. One girl couldn't get her credit cards to work in the metro card machine. I got mine to work and we shared it for the ride up and back.

We got on the subway and it made a couple of stops then it took off and next thing I know we are passing 86th st. we needed to be at 77th st. We could have gotten off at 86th st but the subway was not stopping. We went all the way to 125th st when it finally stopped. we hopped on another train and made it down to the museum.

We spent really only 45 minutes in the hall of oceanic life and then the rest of the time in a classroom doing a case study and discussing how we could use this in our classroom.

we did sneak out to the store during our breaks. I brought dh and ds's some stuffed dinosaurs. I got a Albert Einstein poster for my classroom and a model of the Apollo space craft. I have been looking for one several years but the last one I saw cost 4 times as much as this one.

we did go into the musuem after class and saw a couple of things. The best thing about the day is that they gave us free passes for another day. I was able to get 6 tickets so I think we have to plan another day in the city to see the museum.

I did learn alot about something I knew nothing about. we did a case study about zebra mussels in the Hudson river. Very interesting.

What museum was this? It sounds like DD would like it.

Question of the Day

With so many people planning their vacations let's ask a question about a trip to Disney World

Is there one tradition that you do everytime you got to DW or DL?

With us it is a trip to see Fort Wilderness and eat at Trails End. We love the campground and the peacefulness of it.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Well.... we always end our trip from the MK. It just feels right saying good bye to the castle. And somehow it seems we always start our trips at AK..... just kind of happens like that. SO there you go.... two traditions.

Back on EST! The scales here say I'm down 1.5 from yesterday
It may be the difference in scales or because I am dehydrated from travelling but it was NICE mentally to see that this morning. Ran about 2 miles and saw an owl, 2 geese (flying and honking), cardinals, blue jays and a hummingbird!

I haven't had time to read all the way back but tomorrow morning I should have time to catch up with everyone. Busy day today and I am going to stick to 9 PM bed times so I won't get so far off European time while I am here.

Have a great weekend!

Shawn

Glad you made it safely back here to the States!!

Tomorrow I want to continue cleaning the house, I really need to deep clean the bathroom and kitchen. If the boys do a quick clean through of their rooms I think the house will be in pretty good shape for the week :thumbsup2 I'm hoping that getting things organized at home will help me feel a little less out of control in other areas of life. That's the plan anyway

I always find that so helpful!!

I will catch up when I get home, but I just wanted to say......
I DID IT!!!!! I finished the everest challenge.
I will post more details when they come available but I just had to tell you I did it. And I could not have finished without the WISH boards!!
So thank you!

I never had any doubt that you could and would do it!! And now that we've met, I would never doubt that you could do anything! You've got a lot of spunk in that little body!!

We had a really nice weekend in Maine. We stayed right on the beach, so when I woke up yesterday, I sat out on the deck with a cup of tea and my book and listened to the waves.

That sounds so relaxing! I'm not a big beach person, but I'm really looking forward to our time at Cape this summer.

Slugger, the team mascot came by our seats, and ds was going to go down to get a pic, but lots of younger kids got there first, so he was embarrassed and didn't go down, but Slugger had seen him start to come down, and after he saw all the kids, he climbed over the rail to michael and gave him a big hug. So cute.

Just about the time you think they are too old for something like that, they surprise you. GET THIS..... our longest wait at Disney??? To meet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider!!! DD opted to wait TWO HOURS to meet them!! Her option and she said it was so worth it!! Go figure!

Pamela- Wonder where you are right now, it's 6:40, probably up and in the shower, to hit emh somewhere, MK, I think on mondays. Bet you'll have a full day before you head back. Hope you've had the best time.

We were up and moving between 5:45 and 6:45 am every day. We made park opening every day, including the EMH mornings. And we did have the BEST time!

Have a wonderful monday everyone!! Hope the sun is shining, and the temps are warm where you are.

Running Everest was fun sometimes frustrating but glad I did it..

The run went well until the final obstacle where I wish they would've yelled the options before I was halfway (and then stuck) up the ropes waiting for the people in front of me to very slowly go over and the people behind me which added several min to my time :( But had an amazing time still so can't complain..

Scavenger hunt was tolerable.. Amazed how spread out it was over the park and frustrated how when you got to the end the answers really didnt matter.. Oh well- know that for next time

Ended up 17th out of 145 for Solo Women- so amazed (and yet if I knew how well I did I wouldve tried that much harder..)

Onward to training for the DLR Half

That is an amazing finish!!! Great job!

Great News:cool1::cool1:There is no sign of Tumor Regrowth:cool1::cool1:

Praise the Lord!! News could not get any better. You're relief must be unmeasurable.

So that is my stress relief for the day. Thanks for all the prayers, they seem to be working.

Will continue to pray for Hunter's health, of course, and for your new job situation.

We spent our first anniversary in Hannibal, MO, and we went to the Unsinkable Molly Brown Dinner theater. I didn't know what I was booking, and we were the youngest people there by a mile. Anyway, the Molly Brown character is working the room, singing various songs as she goes. She gets to dh, and starts to belt out, "Who's Sorry Now". Um, we were. So the dessert was strawberry shortcake. Which is lovely, but I wanted chocolate! The only chocolate dh could find at that time of night was a package of Rolos. So, now whenever we go somewhere or it's a special occasion (or he forgets something important), I get "Special Occasion Rolos". I've had many "Special Anniversary Rolos", "Special I didn't realize I booked us into a dump hotel Rolos", "Special I forgot you were at home instead of work Rolos", it's actually kind of a couple thing just for us. :lovestruc

Maria :upsidedow

That story is so cute!!!

The details on my race.
DS and I were in Wave 3 which I was thrilled about. I was so worried that we would be in the back. This bought me a little time since they closed the course at 10. Our wave took off at 8:40. The energy was amazing! The first mile was in the parking lot and had one obstacle, hay bales. At first I was stepping on them to get over but they were really soft. Hay bales are not the same in the south as they are in the north! So the last 2 I hurdled, and did ok. Snapped a pic of mile 1 marker.
About 1/2 way I was getting a pretty bad stitch in my side so we slowed down a little. The second obstacle was tires. These were the ones I was worried about the most. I didn't want to fall so I walked them.
About mile 2 I wanted to quit. But then I saw my new friend Heather who was in wave 1, she was headed in the opposite direction headed back into the park from the service road. She said it wasn't much further til we turned back, so that really motivated me!
Something else that motivated me was the fact that as we ran across to bridge in Asia towards the front of the park, I saw runners still coming over the bridge to Africa. I was certain I was going to be swept so that really helped spur me on.
Mile 3 was actually the easiest. I was slow, I jogged because if I walked my shins burned but walkers were passing me. But I managed to slow my mind down and the next thing I knew we saw flashing lights, we were back in the parking lot!!! Big cheers from all the runners at that point.
the last challenge was the cargo net climb. UGH. I had thought about skipping it but I decided that I did the other ones so I was doing this one too. It was tough but I got through it and DS was waiting right there for me.
We ran through the chute/ finish line and I glanced at the clock.
It said 58 minutes, I was like what. That meant that Wave 1 left 58 minutes ago, which mean we left 48 minutes ago. I didn't think that was right but I didn't have time to think about it. We got our first clue and our light and sharpie.
Clue one was so easy we got it right away. The problem was figuring out where to go. We went passed the oasis so we had to back track. It was kind of chaotic but we got our second clue.
The second clue was sooooo stupid and hard!! People were getting angry and fast. We found help, solved it and ran to Camp Minnie Mickey for the 3rd clue. This is where I got ticked! People were so confused that the man that was supposed to hand out the 3rd clue didn't because he was to busy helping other people solve the clue. I got a little snippy and it got his attention. Not my finest moment I tell you.
As soon as I handed DS the clue he got it, it was stretched letters.
Off to Harambe for the fourth clue. Again, solved it right away so we booked it to Asia for the last clue. It turned out to be a combination of the first 4 clues, solved it really easily. We booked it to the finish line which was right before the Everest Fast passes. They asked us the answer to the final clue which I shouted as we ran to the finish line.
We made it!!! The clock said something like 1:34: and change. Which means we ran it all in something like 1:24. We got our medals, which are awesome!!!!! Picked up powerade, which is nasty!!!! Bananas and water.
I called hubby, texted BFF and rested.
We went over to Restaurantosaurus to get our bag, found Heather again. Rode Dinosaur (didn't care for it), said good bye to Heather, rode Everest twice, then headed back to the room. We were exhausted and hurting.

so stats:
We placed 617 out of 785 for the co-ed teams
Race time - 46:24; hunt time - 38:04; total time - 1:24:28

Pace time: 14:91 minutes per mile!!

My race time was exactly 2 minutes better then my treadmill time!!!!

I'm so proud of myself for not quitting. I was close to not going at all. I'm really glad that I went.
DS and I had a great time together.

I'm happy to hear the whole story! Your medals were amazing!! Wear them with pride!! And your race time was very respectable! Don't stop now!! Find another race to sign up for to keep up your momentum!

And the best part? I got the meet pjlla and her DD. They are just as amazing in person as they are on the boards!! DS and her DD got along famously and are ride buddies from now on! Thanks Pamela for letting us hang with you!! MGM really helped keep my mind off the race.

I'm amazed that you did all that park touring in the morning and still had a personal best time that night at the race! I'm tired just thinking about it!

The kids did get along great! Just goes to show what great Moms we are, right?? It was so much fun to ride together. And thanks SO MUCH for the ride pictures! We finally had time to show them to the guys last night.

ETA: and I'm down 2 pounds from the time I left!!!

Ummm....JEALOUS!!!!

Everest.jpg

Great picture! I will get your email address and send along the ones that I took of us all when I get around to downloading the camera.

It's been a roller coaster ride for me today. I am elated that Hunter is healthy :cool1: Excited about the prospec of a new job. Disappointed that I had to give notice that the other job, frustrated that the menus I printed last week for the Restaurant have errors (due to computer issues). Tomorrow is a new day with great new opportunities

That is a great way to think about EVERY new day we are given.

Question of the Day

Can you name one thing that has helped you on this journey?

Have a happy and healthy day.

My food journal. It is my faithful companion.

aloha everyone!

just wanted to make a quick drive-by post to say hi to everyone! we are really having a great time so far here in maui. sure, i'm up at 4:30am every morning but really is it that much different than getting up at 6am most days anyway?? the time change hasn't been as bad as i thought it would be on thomas.

and the plane ride with thomas? HE WAS AWESOME!! on the flight to chicago we wound up having a seat between us free so he sat and played with the seat belt for practically the whole time!

the flight from chicago to maui was about 8.5 hours. thomas fell asleep before take off and slept on my cousin tracey for about 2 hours! he ate, played with stickers, watched toy story 3 (as soon as it ended the DVD player died), took walks up and down the aisle and was overall a really good boy. he would cry any time i got up to pee and didn't bring him as he is SO CLINGY lately but that's it!

when we landed everyone around us complimented us on how good he was. what a superstar. we managed to keep him up the first night til about 6pm and put him to sleep. he has done well with the time change.

anyway, i've been eating like crazy though which is not so great. and my belly is starting to pooch out for sure. but hey, it's vacation and i'm pregnant so what can ya do? ;) we've been to the beach and the pool and have been having a great time.

hope everyone is doing well! i will have ALOT of catching up to do but DH needs his computer back to do some work (ew!)

Glad to hear that the flight went so well and you are having fun!! Enjoy the trip!

Checking in quickly. I have been BUSY! Barely home most days and when I am I am still cleaning out and organizing, had a garage sale on Saturday, did stuff with the family on Sunday and yesterday spent 5 hours deep cleaning my bedroom. It had become the 3rd catchall room and I wanted it all cleaned out! And I went through several dust cloths. I swear after an hour of dusting all my knick knacks and collectibles I was ready to throw them out! I love my stuff but the dust really builds up quick.

I need to go get my Pool board stuff together and organized. I sent a letter basically resigning from the board because of some issues I have with the way some things are being done. I want to have my stuff ready to turn in.

Weight loss hasn't been good though. I am holding at the same place for the last few weeks. Can't get these last 2 pounds gone. But I am not eating as well as I should be. I need to kick myself in the rear and JUST DO IT.

Sounds like you've been super busy! I agree about the "stuff". There are days I wish I lived a much more streamlined life!

Holding with your weight isn't a bad thing..... it's called maintenance and it is the hardest part of this journey! You will get back on line with the "loss" part of things soon, I'm sure.

Good wednesday morning Teams

Had a pretty good day yesterday. I had to tell administration about a problem that happened on Friday. I had a professsional day but they had so many people absent that they didn't have enough subs. During the day I found out who covered each of my classes since a different person was in each class. When I got to my last class ans asked them who covered their class they told me NO ONE CAME:scared1:. They told me that they took attendance and kept quiet. It is one of the top classes in the building. When I told one administrator his one comment was "Please tell it is was your AP class and not Integrated (one of the worst classes in the building). At least I could telll him yes.

YIKES!! That's not right. But I get what you are saying about the AP versus Integrated.

Went to the local high school band concert last night. Ds2 is home from college and went to see some friends. At the end of the concert they sing "An Irish Blessing" and ask any former graduates to join them on stage. We were sitting close enough to hear someone say Sean is coming up. I was surprised since he is a pretty quiet but up he went. It was nice to see him perform again.

ANd nice that someone else seemed noticed he was there!

Question of the Day

Over the course of this challenge we have to gotten to know each other pretty well but there is always a long dark hidden secret being kept. Tell us one thing that we don't know about you.

Like Deb said about herself, I am pretty much an open book. Not much comes to mind.

I guess I will say that I am VERY shy and terrible about meeting new people. It was REALLY tough for me to agree to meet Buffy last week.....I get petrified about meeting people. But I'm so glad I did!! We had too much fun!

Glad you will have a positive outcome of renewed health when all of your healing is done. Thanks for the PSA..... it is super important to remember... especially for our teens!

I hope you enjoy your trip to Disney!

I just thought I would share a couple pictures

This was in december at my heaviest (249 lbs)

This picture was taken last week at 209 lbs (at 40 lbs of weight lost)

Thanks for sharing! I know how scary it is to share those kinds of pictures. You're waistline is tiny now!

Great job getting back to the basics of WW. It should be a great week for you! Go back and re-read all of your week one information if you have time.

Sounds like you are keeping busy between jobs!! I'm sure you will use the time wisely.

Question of the Day

Will you be joining us for the Summer Challenge?

YES..... without a doubt!!

**********Happy Thursday friends!!

It has been hard to get back to "normal" this time! I guess I don't catch up on my sleep as quickly, now that I am older. Plus I've had to jump, feet first, into a couple of new projects (one for swim team and one for robotics).

Laundry is caught up, suitcases are just waiting for a trip to the attic, groceries are bought. Thank HEAVENS they didn't need me at work yesterday or today.... but I am working tomorrow. And DD has a swim meet Fri/Sat. and the middle school penny sale is tomorrow night and Rainbow Girls have a bake sale tomorrow night, so I need to bake today (I hate baking). DS will have to attend the penny sale with DH, as I will be working the timing system at the swim meet. Tonight is the high school Expo night. I'd like to go and hear about the trip to Costa Rico that DD wants to go on next year and I'd like to see the Senior projects, to get some ideas for DD (she knows what she will be doing.... just looking for some presentation ideas). But that will mean skipping my gym workout tonight. Not feeling real motivated to hit the TM at home today, but I guess I'll do it if I have to.

I will write up a mini trip report for you all today.... for those of you who want to live vicariously! It may or may not include photos, depending on my time.

Off to :laundy:! TTYL....................P

dvccruiser- Ash didn't really pick a theme. She picked sky blue plates, cups and napkins. We got some little goodies for the goody bag (candy and games). She was going to do Star Wars but the girls coming don't like Star Wars so she felt funny doing that. We'll probably watch a movie and they can play a game or two.

Was going to keep myself busy at work today or try to and then Izzie's school called that she wasn't feeling well. Headache and tummy ache and slight fever. Teacher said she just wasn't herself. She was a bit sniffly this morning but otherwise acted fine. We are home on the couch watching our sick day movie, Toy Story 3. She's having some juice and we are both in our jammies under a blanket. She brought out one of her pillow pets and said that she may take a nap. Something definitely isn't right if she wants to take a nap! Strep is going round the school but knock on wood none of us have ever had strep! She said her throat is fine.

Time to snuggle with her and try to relax!

TTFN :tigger:

Just a quick hello, my friends! I have been missing all of you, but the stress levels in my life are even greater if I take time away from the task list to "play" with my internet friends.
I have been having horrible stomach cramps since Monday and have had no interest in eating food beyond what is necessary to get me going in the morning and then a salad and some protein mid to late afternoon. I had a fever for a couple of those days, too. It's funny how I've always been a stress eater and this week I've been a stress non-eater. This new approach, as you can imagine, is much more effective for weight loss. ;) Oh, and Kathy, it's really easy to journal when I haven't been grazing at night and trying to remember what I ate so that I can account for it. :guilty:

I have read everything up to here so that I can keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry I can't take the time to respond to everyone but I want you to know how much the support here means to me. Hugs, my friends! :grouphug:

My co-worker screwed up and I did have a client today for a 30 min foot massage. So Izzie and I got dressed again and went back to the spa. I ordered lunch from next door for both of us. I figured I might want to eat now as I don't know if I'll want to eat later.

We just played Tiddlywinks and now we're back on the couch watching Toy Story 3. I may try and nap too!

TTFN :tigger:

Hello everyone. I am sending up prayers for all of you that are going through tough times right now ( medical issues, family issues, work issues, etc...) It is so easy to "forget" to take care of yourself during stressful times. (there have been times I have looked at an empty bag of chips in my hand and thought who ate them all? - duh!!)
During the school year, I have a very structured schedule, but we are a week away from being done for the year, and I am getting a little scared about whether I can keep up the good habits I have made. I want to, and feel like I can, but I keep hearing this little voice tell me, "You never did before!" So for the QOTD, YES, I will be here for the next challenge, trying to reach a goal I haven't hit for a very long time!!!!

Pam- That would be so awesome if you could come!!!!

I'll definitely try!

You're such a great mom! You always have time for a game and some snuggle time. Sorry about the scheduling mix up.

I've got my "mini" trip report written, but it is pretty dull. I'm not a great writer.... I tend to stick with just the facts. Plus I'm pretty long winded! It isn't very "mini"!

Give me some time to download my camera and I'll add a photo or two to make it more interesting...........P
