Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Day not starting off so well. Awoke at 3:30 with a bad headache! Tried to go back to sleep with no luck. Watched Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice from last night. Now I have to get Ash up and ready for school. Izzie just got up! Motrin is not helping my head. I may just go back to bed for awhile after the kids go to school and then go to Nashua to do my errands when I wake up. I have some other errands to do later as well.

TTFN :tigger:
:hug:Thinking of you today, Tracey, and praying for peace and comfort for you, your mom and all you family. I hope you can get back to bed, and get a little rest.

Thanks, Kathy! Having some tea and I think that's helping. I may try and get my errands done this morning and then come home and take a nap and then do other errands. Quiet evening of pancakes and sausage and probably a game or two.

Made my shopping lists so I may be able to do everything quickly. I tend to shop quickly when I'm on my own and could be home by 11:30ish. I'll probably treat myself to something for lunch, thinking I'd love something from Chipotle but that will depend on what time I get done with my shopping!

Time to make the lunches!

TTFN :tigger:

Thank you to Kathy and Sue for coaching last week. Great job ladies!

Thank you to Dona for coaching this week.

Tracey--thinking about you today.

Don't forget to pm your CURRENT WEIGHT and your TEAM NAME to tigger813 and your HH points to cclovesdis.:goodvibes

I peeked on the scale this morning and I have hit my 10 pound goal for this challenge! I want to stay down for the end!
Congrats!:goodvibes
No plans here.

I spoke to HR today and they are going to do NOTHING...absolutely nothing. I got an I'm sorry and we understand if you need to get done as it was a determining factor in your decision. I told the HR rep that I have another offer on the table and we discussed it. She said that if she were me she would take the other job and never look back. She thinks that I have too much to offer and will never reach my potential there. She was very honest and felt bad about the whole situtation. She said that most people would be jumping at the opportunity that I have in front of me. She wasn't able to give me any type of compensation at all if I were to stay there and the coverage that I was shown is not even an option through the insurance company for anyone anywhere.

I got the info packet on the VA job and links to the benefits website. There is just too much to wade through though. There are at least a dozen insurance companies that I can choose from with various premiums and coverage. I have no idea how I can sort through it all :confused3 Hopefully I'll be able to make a decision this weekend.
I hope you figure it out Deb. I'm glad you have another option on the table.

If I maintain this week it will be really close! I don't know what happened. Mike thinks it's cause I was not very mobile. I might have to start off the new challenge on the losing team. I did something to my back yesterday. It really stinks getting old, but I guess the alternative is not good either!:thumbsup2

I'm working today--all day conference call, yuck! Have a great day everyone!

Ok, I missed a page of posts.:goodvibes

Have a great Mother's Day weekend everyone. My laptop is packed so I will keep in touch next week. Good luck with weigh-in:cheer2:

Shawn:)
Have a great trip Shawn! And happy mother's day to you, too!

Question of the Day

Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?

Have a happy and healthy day.
We are going to wdw in two weeks for french fries.:rotfl: (For anyone who doesn't know, french fries are my big treat, and since going g-f I can't have them most places, but there are a couple of places at wdw with dedicated friers--but we really are going for a break from food. The restaurants do such a good job with special diets. Eating out isn't really much fun anymore.) We might try to go to the Smoky's for a weekend. We will move DS back to school in August and then make a trip to see him in September and go back to wdw in October for W& D, assuming my knee gets better.:goodvibes

Welcome to Healthy Habits!

This week, I decided to do something different. Each day, I will post one mini-challenge for the day. It will be an easy-going week with no points to submit. I encourage you to try as many challenges as possible and post about your successes! Hope everyone has a great week.

Mini-Challenge for Friday, May 6: Get in some extra steps.

Here are some ideas for how:
Take the stairs.
Park further from the entrance.
Take a longer walk.
Walk in place while cooking your dinner.
I think this is a great idea for this week, CC!:goodvibes

I love vacations, and really they are a big highlight of my life. The planning, the anticipation, and then the actual trip, even if it's just for a weekend. We're going to the beach in Maine this weekend, just for saturday night and if the weather is good sunday will go to a minor league baseball game. My real vacation is the last 2 weeks of august, and the first week we're renting a house on Sebago lake with my brother and sister and families, and my other sister will be there in her trailer. Just one brother won't be there, and we hope they might come for a weekend.
my second week, michael and I usually do something just the 2 of us. Of course I'll be pricing a few more disney trips, before then, but I really can't do that, so I think we're going to go to cape cod for a few days, and take the ferry to martha's vineyard for a day, and bike over there, and bike some fo the cape cod trails. We'll do a day trip to Canobie lake amusement park, and maybe Six Flags too. As I add on things we'll do, I tally the price of them in my head, and hope it will be near enough to a disney trip, so we can do that instead, but they're really not.

Thanks CC for hosting HH, and for this weeks mini challenges!

Have a great day everyone!! :)
This sounds really great Kathy!:goodvibes

hi friends! just a quick drive by hello today as i STILL haven't started packing. why am i so lazy? i have like 12 lists going on right now of all the things i need to do, need to pack, need to CLEAN, etc.

dh is bringing his laptop so i'm sure i'll sign on into the dis while on vacation but probably not as often as i do when i'm home.

today's QOTD is great because i love reading about people's vacations! i like to pretend i'm with them :) this maui trip is our big vacation for a LONG time. we were hoping to do a september trip to disney but now it's not looking that great as dh only gets 3 weeks vacation and we're maxed out already! but i'm trying to push him to just call in sick for two days! don't think he can do that though. oh well.

our flight is at 7am tomorrow out of la guardia which is nice b/c it takes us 15 min to get there. and i had my cousin who is going with us sweet talk my aunt into driving us there which will save a few bucks by not taking a cab :)

to all the mothers...happy mother's day! i hope you all have a wonderful weekend! xoxo

Have fun Nancy!! I hope Thomas does great on the plane.:goodvibes

Buffy--Hope EE is a ton of fun!!!!:goodvibes

I almost forgot--my DS is coming home today.:goodvibes I'm excited, and a little nervous. He has not lived at home for more than a couple of weeks for two years. Could be an interesting summer. I will not stress eat, I will not stress eat, I will not stress eat.:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time!! Don't worry about the packing, it will get done, and the earlier you do it, the more you overpack, so might as well wait a little longer. How long will you be in Hawaii for?

Well that plains stinks :headache: At least the HR person was honest. Can you contact HR at the other job or look on their website? I would think they would have a chart that might compare the different plans? That might help.

I am coaching this week so I better get that done and then I can have breakfast

Question of the Day

Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?

We don't have any plans so I have to live through my friends.

Shawn have a safe trip and good luck finding a house this weekend.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Hi and thanks for coaching this week. I had fun splitting last week with Kathy.

Let's see, we're heading down to FL in 2 weeks for a Disney cruise. Yahoo! It'll be DS's first cruise  We're also going to visit my best friend in FL before we cruise since she hasn't met Dylan yet.

Then in August we are driving down to VA to spend a week with DH's friends. There will be 5 couples and 5 kids all around the same age so it should be fun.

We're also planning on going away for one night in September for our 5th anniversary. It'll be our first night away from DS :scared1:

Day not starting off so well. Awoke at 3:30 with a bad headache! Tried to go back to sleep with no luck. Watched Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice from last night. Now I have to get Ash up and ready for school. Izzie just got up! Motrin is not helping my head. I may just go back to bed for awhile after the kids go to school and then go to Nashua to do my errands when I wake up. I have some other errands to do later as well.

Hope your headache is gone :)

I took care of him in the recovery room, so not that close contact. THe people who have converted and contracted the tb were with him in an enclosed procedure room for about 2 hours, and he was coughing during that exam, so the cough in the closed room is how he spread it.

I'm feeling un-biggest loser-like, but have you been to the cupcake bakery on Rantoul st in beverly? I haven't been in years, but think it's still there, and amazing. Where do you get your favorite cupcakes. I love cakes for occassions little animal cupcakes, so cute, and lots of frosting.

I love vacations, and really they are a big highlight of my life. The planning, the anticipation, and then the actual trip, even if it's just for a weekend. We're going to the beach in Maine this weekend, just for saturday night and if the weather is good sunday will go to a minor league baseball game. That's kind of scary but good that you didn't get it. Should they have known before he went in that he had TB?

I used to love the charity fundraiser cupcakes at Cakes for Occasions. They had a chocolate cupcake with white frosting and a marshmellow buttercream filling, but they stopped selling them :headache: I also love the plain white cupcakes with white frosting from Lyndell's in Somerville and the North End and the plain with cupcakes with white frosting from Henry's in Beverly. I can't wait to try all the new ones in WDW in December 2012 popcorn::

Sounds like you have some great trips planned. Are you signed up for another WDW marathon too?

Thank you to Kathy and Sue for coaching last week. Great job ladies!

I sent you a PM with my email address if you want the packing list still. I don't think I can attach it to a PM.

Thanks to Kathy and Sue for coaching this week! :goodvibes And thank you to our new coach this week, donac! :flower3:

Lisa and Shawn- I want to join you both and finish this challenge strong. Seems like I've been here before, too many times, but I'll never give up.

You goy it, girl, we can do this! :yay:

I finally got to see both my physical therapist and personal trainer yesterday to tell them about the 5K. They were both surprised and really happy for me!! The glow of completion has yet to wear off! So, the game plan is to lengthen my stride for the June race (May seemed a bit too soon as a goal). Granted I am short...at least my legs are so I can't expect to be track star LOL! I'm hitting the road today to use some of the techniques I learned yesterday. Hopefully they work!

So how did your new training techniques works yesterday? I think lengthening your stride is easier than shortening it. I know Galloway said most strides just need to be adjusted by an inch or so. You are so on your way! :thumbsup2

I am packed and ready for my trip to the US tomorrow. I have appts to look at 17 houses this weekend in my old n'hood and I will branch out to other n'hoods as needed after that. I need to check the website for what docs are needed to register DS for HS but it's a long shot if I'll be able to do that as you must have a signed contract or signed rental agreement in hand in order to register at all. I'll take his docs with me just in case...

Shawn, safe travels and good luck househunting. Here's some pixiedust: that you find the perfect place, in your price range, that needs no repairs! Thanks for letting us know about Cinco de Mayo, too. :cool2:

Rose, sorry the knee is sore but hopefully that is short lived. I'm envious of your killer arms! :goodvibes

QOTD: I completely forgot cinco de mayo was this week when doing my meal planning! Last year we had grilled fish tacos with mango salsa, yummy! I have baked miso tilapia, pickled cucumber salad, and green beans planned for tonight, not very Mexican! We'll most likely fix something Mexican for Mother's Day dinner. We got watermelons to make some agua fresca on Sunday and I'll figure out a good, healthier recipe to make. I don't want to lose my momentum that I regained after having ice cream and chocolate for Easter (it definitely reaffirmed that my several years long ban of ice cream in the house is a good thing!). I peeked on the scale this morning and I have hit my 10 pound goal for this challenge! I want to stay down for the end!

Woo hoo for making goal for the challenge, Lisa! :woohoo: I think celebrating "Ocho de Mayo" works just fine. ;) Enjoy that watermelon! I'm always skeptical of watermelon in May here -- might be those lingering snow flakes. ;)

Well, I'm going to head downstairs and start organizing my packing. I have about 121 items on my list, so the sooner I start the better. Thanks for letting me be your coach for the past few days :goodvibes

Thanks for coaching this week, Sue, and good luck with that packing!
:thumbsup2 Have a wonderful, wonderful time! :cool2:

I spoke to HR today and they are going to do NOTHING...absolutely nothing. I got an I'm sorry and we understand if you need to get done as it was a determining factor in your decision. Deb, I'm so sorry this happened to you. Here's some pixiedust: that it all works out for the best. And now the HR person is being honest with you -- would have been nice if they were before you were hired.

Good Friday morning Teams

I am coaching this week but I have very little time this morning. I need to leave an extra 45 minutes early this morning. Going intot the city to the Museum of Natural History. we are getting a tour but I think it is mainly geared for science people. I am not too happy about it but I will still go because it is a day off. But I have to be at a friend's house at 6:15 and catch the 6:40 train into the city and I still have a few things to do before I leave.

I am coaching this week so I better get that done and then I can have breakfast

Question of the Day

Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?

We don't have any plans so I have to live through my friends.

Shawn have a safe trip and good luck finding a house this weekend.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thanks for coaching this week, dona!

We are going on our annual trek to Iowa for a few days this year. DH's family has a place on a lake there that has been in the family for 118 years. Some of the house is still original and the rest was added after WWII. ::yes:: We will also go to Seattle for a week-end and see my Mom. We have a couple of visitors coming through, too, so lots of fun but not much travelling thank goodness!

Thanks for the mini-challenges, CC! They are perfect for busy times! :goodvibes

Tracey, so sorry it is going to be a stressful day for you with a headache, too. Hopefully everyone will feel a little better after speaking to the doctor.

Day not starting off so well. Awoke at 3:30 with a bad headache! Tried to go back to sleep with no luck. Watched Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice from last night. You, too, Nancy! :goodvibes Safe travels and take pity on us sometimes and tell us how wonderful it is there in Maui! :beach:

Rose, enjoy your summer with DS! :flower3:

Buffy, good luck on EE! :cheer2:

Out of time here so everyone have a great day!

Question of the Day

Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?

Morning all. Been a while since I posted (again). I stink at this some times.

Glad to see my scale is finally moving in the right direction again. Almost at my 30# loss (still many more to go, but a good victory).

As for vacation plans, we are taking two of our kids (20; 23) on their first cruise, the Dream on September 1st and then a few days in Disney. Counting down for that. Other than that, I'll be sticking close to home.

Happy Happy Friday Friends!!

QOTD: I peeked on the scale this morning and I have hit my 10 pound goal for this challenge! I want to stay down for the end!
WOOOOHOOOOOO!! Congrats on your scale goal!!!

Oh goodness I read about your cupcake and immediately had to scroll up to see where you lived. Bummer too far of a drive :rotfl: You really should check out the thread in the restaurant section of the dis called "Show me the cupcakes"

Well, I'm going to head downstairs and start organizing my packing. I have about 121 items on my list, so the sooner I start the better. Thanks for letting me be your coach for the past few days :goodvibes
Thanks for the tip about the Show Me the Cupcakes.....YUM YUM YUM!! I need to lay off the cupcakes in order to make some headway in this challenge but I am reserving a yum yum for the completion of my June 11th race (just a little treat for my hard work!) I'm going with the Butterfinger Cupcake (chocolate and peanutbutter with a mini butterfinger on top!) I can't wait!!

I spoke to HR today and they are going to do NOTHING...absolutely nothing. I got an I'm sorry and we understand if you need to get done as it was a determining factor in your decision. Deb - it's really refreshing to hear about an HR person who knows that you are worth more than they are giving you!! I hope everything works out and you end up in a better place both financially and health insurance wise!

UGH! Scale way up today! Any time I drink alcohol, I blow up!

I am sticking to my guns and submitting my Friday morning weight and no more fooling around. I would like to hope I have a big loss next week, but I know I will be indulging in the US.

Will have to be careful and jog daily next week! I also packed my LS 3 mile video in case of rain. Lots of water too!

Have a great Mother's Day weekend everyone. My laptop is packed so I will keep in touch next week. Good luck with weigh-in:cheer2:

Shawn:)
Safe travels to you!! I hope that you find a house that fits your needs! Also glad you get to see your mom on Mother's Day :)

Have fun in the City :) At least you have a nice day to walk around (maybe some time in Central Park?)

QOTD: Considering I took a huge pay cut last year and am back on a 10 month contract with no job prospects for the summer it looks like a Staycation is in my future. I am going to the shore for a week in June with the family which should be nice, but this summer my days will be spent at the pool in my complex....exploring different locations through books :) I'm also saving up for my trip to the Princess Half in Feb so that eats into thing too! I will be living vicariously through all of you....POST PICTURES PLEASE!!

YAY! DS coming home sounds like it could make for an interesting summer for you! Enjoy!

Let's see, we're heading down to FL in 2 weeks for a Disney cruise. Yahoo! It'll be DS's first cruise  We're also going to visit my best friend in FL before we cruise since she hasn't met Dylan yet.
Color me jealous!! Can't wait to read your trip report!!

*********
I think this has been the longest week. On Tuesday I actually thought it was Thursday! I think all the AP exams are messing with my schedule. Anyway, had a rough night sleeping...no idea why so I am extra sleepy today.

I had lunch yesterday with 2 ladies who are former book editors. They are writing a book about the college process and wanted my input. In turn, I picked their brains about the book I want to write - it's a childrens book. They thought my idea was great so now I have to find an illustrator and actually write it. I think that is how my summer with be spent. I will sit by the pool and write my book. I'm hoping that a girl I knew in college will do the illustrations with me which will take some collaboration. I'm excited and nervous but more excited than nervous. I'll keep you updated about my progress!

Eating went well yesterday even though I was out for lunch (chicken sandwich grilled, part of the bread, and a few sweet potato fries). After I did my 3 miles last night I made a quinoa cold salad with kidney beans, chick peas, red onion, basil and a dressing of fresh lemon juice and EVOO. It was really good and really filling! I love summer salads for a quick and easy dinner.

I'm really getting frustrated by the lack of commitment in my workout partners. I have more motivation now and I will go by myself, but I feel more accountable when I have to meet someone! Christine flaked on me on Wednesday for our walk and Katie....3 times she has made plans to meet me and has cancelled. Katie is also the one who is considering lap band??? I'm trying to be helpful but sometimes you just have to let people do what they need to do :(

I have a confession. I have not been on the scale in 2 weeks. :scared1: Tomorrow morning I will step on and see what it says.....:rolleyes1

To all the mommies...enjoy Mother's Day!! I am taking my mom and my godmother to brunch on Sunday (and my dad and godfather too!).

Enjoy your Friday!!

So how did your new training techniques works yesterday? I think lengthening your stride is easier than shortening it. I know Galloway said most strides just need to be adjusted by an inch or so. You are so on your way! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the support Lisa! The run was ok yesterday and tried to do some of the techniques but I felt a little silly running with my knees first up and down the sidewalk...I'll work on it... ;)

Have a great day!!

Happy Friday everyone!

Wow, I am having a hard time keeping up!

Just wanted to let you all know I am sending good thoughts to everyone. :goodvibes

Anyone heard anything lately about Caleb? I am keeping him in my prayers!

I had my shoulder manipulation last Friday. (thanks for the good wishes they really worked!) I am doing GREAT!! Very little pain. I am TONS better!! I am doing PT, but they think I will only go one more week then they will dismiss me. :) I am amazed that I struggles so long and the cure was so simple!

So back to exercising. I am down several pounds and I think it is just from resuming my normal activities finally!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey everyone! The scale says I'm down 10.4 for the challenge! Woohoo! Staying on track the next 3 weeks is going to be the most challenging with Mother's Day and my birthday on the 23rd. I'll definitely need to stay focused.

QOTD: I am in a constant state of planning our next vacation. We haven't gone anywhere except for a long weekend in Santa Fe last October since our big road trip last June to save for Hawaii. Now our nephew is getting married in October, I'm doing the Tinker Bell Half in January, and suddenly there are so many trips in the works!

First is our June road trip to Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Santa Fe, and Carlsbad Caverns. We are planning to take more back roads through the mountains and I've heard its incredibly beautiful. I'm very excited to see these places and am also looking forward to a big Trader Joe's stock up shopping trip in Santa Fe (our closest TJs).

Next is our September trip to Kauai, it will be our 4th Hawaiian island (we lived on Oahu for 6 months) and I am so looking forward to it. We are going the week DH turns 40 and both DS and DD have their birthdays that week. I am so jealous that they all get to spend their birthdays in Hawaii!

In October, we are going to CA for our nephew's wedding in Palm Springs, with a 3 day stopover in Anaheim for Disneyland! I'm excited to try all the new rides and restaurants that will be there since our last trip. I think I am most looking forward to the new Tiki Bar in the DL Hotel! I'm stressing a little about finding a good airfare for this one since they are on the rise.

************
Shawn-Have fun in the States! I totally get the wanting to indulge in food that you can't get in Germany.

Buffy-Good luck on EE! You will do fantastic!

Karen-It sounds like you are doing really great with your running!

P-I'm so jealous right now. I'm sure you are having lots of fun!

BronxNancy-Have a blast in Maui! Its a great island, with so much to see and do. Good luck on the plane flight, hopefully he will nap for part of it. Are you changing planes somewhere?

Lisa-I SO can't believe how rude that lady was, I'm sure she has no idea what you are capable of! I think there are lots of people out there who want quick and easy and don't understand those that work hard for their results. You are such an inspiration! I am a little skeptical about this watermelon, I'm sure the quality will be much better in July. Its going to be 80 on Mother's Day. I can't wait!

Rose-I'm sure the new routine will take a little adjustment. You are doing so great! I remember from my end it was a little wierd coming back to live with my parents for a couple of months after being gone. I'm sure you'll have a great summer and enjoy being able to have DS around for a while again.

DisneyWedding2010-Love the new kitchen!

Cam-I hope all the graduation preparations are going well.

Dona-Have fun in the City. I have actually never been to New York, but would really love to visit someday.

Deb-I'm so sorry about the work situation. This new job sounds great and I really hope it works out!

Hi to Lindsay, Kathy, CC, and anyone else I am forgetting!

Happy Friday everyone!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks for asking. I know it has been awhile since I have checked the boards (I keep posting my weights though, thanks Tracey for monitoring us, and I saw your question regarding Caleb.

Caleb is doing great. He had his first shot of chemo (three doses) a few weeks ago and his last blood check showed that his white blood count was down, just as expected because that means the drugs are doing its job. His counts will be coming back up and he then gets his second dose in two more weeks.

He has not been ill and he still has his hair (what little he had anyway) and has been just a little more fussy than normal.. And Melissa and Kyle are doing great. I am so proud of my little girl, she is a rock.

Keep up the good work, and thanks again for thinking of my family.

Dave

Good Friday morning Teams

Question of the Day

Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?

In August my DW and I are attending the D23 expo in Anaheim. Looking forward to this.

And in July I am hoping to visit my friends in Haiti as we build a parsonage for our sister church. This would be my fourth visit there and I love it.

Dave

:cloud9:Thank you for the update on Caleb! That really brightens my day!

I am glad he is doing so well. I know you must be proud of dd, it is a heavy load!

QOTD:

We have an awesome summer planned! Usually I feel worried about filling the kid's time but not this year!

June - 1 Week in Hilton Head with my parents
- 2nd week in HH the boys will head home and my aunt and her girls will come for a girl's week.
- 1 week in LA and Carnival Cruise with my BF from College!! Just the 2 of us (oh and a bunch of women friends of hers lol)

July - NCL Cruise with my Parents, DB and 2 - DS and their families (19 total) to Bermuda! Every other year we all take a vacation together! It is a blast!

In October we may go to Disney for Hubby's conference if I have any money left :rotfl2:

Afternoon all-

Here's what I know.

My mom will be having a full body MRI on Wednesday. They found lesions on her lumbar and pelvic bone. They are not sure what it is as of yet. It could be myeloma but he doctor is taking things one day at a time and one step at a time. My sister really liked the doctor and they also spoke to a social worker who knows all that is going on with my parents right now. She suggested my mom go home and do some gardening as that relaxes her. They want to put her on anxiety meds but she would have to give up her wine so that is still in discussions.

I'll keep you posted when I know more. I'm exhausted but I got 90% of the things I needed today. I need to go to another TJs tomorrow as they didn't have everything I needed.

Looking forward to a relaxing night!

Ash is home and is going on Club Penguin shortly and I don't want her to read any of this.

Thanks for all your hugs and wishes.
