Biggest Christmas Shopping Pet Peeves (IRL, not online)

I have done a lot of shopping online this year, but due to financial issues I've been able to do much shopping until this weekend and it's too late to get shipping most places, so I ventured out yesterday and today. What happened to the holiday spirit!?!?!? People where I live are usually overly friendly, warm, sweet, kindhearted people, but today I encountered a bunch of MONSTERS! :rotfl: The parking lot was the WORST. People cutting people off, not paying attention (I got backed over a curb trying to get out of someone's way who wasn't paying attention & almost hit by someone who started backing out without even looking,) 'stealing' parking places that people are waiting for, etc...

So...what is your biggest pet peeve about Christmas shopping. Mine is parking lots!

i like holiday music and christmas carols, but in some stores they go a little overboard. the bad (practically opera) music is my pet peeve lol. don't take me wrong, i like the words to alot of the songs, but it's the singers that kill the mood with their hugely long and exaggerated high notes lol

What I find especially annoying is parents taking children along to Christmas shop who often become bored and restless, soooo...the children decide to entertain themselves by rummaging through Christmas decorations and toys, then throw them in the floor, sometimes even kicking them out of their way when it's time to leave. I've seen some children trash perfectly beautiful items and the parents don't seem to care. Grrrrr!

I've figured out the secret to the mall I work in, so parking hasn't been so bad-neither has getting out of the parking lot!

On the other end, it bothers me when people say a few days before Thanksgiving "I'll wait for it to go on sale", despite mine and my employees assurances that we WILL sell out of XYZ product. If you truly want that item, you'd best buy it now. Those same shoppers are coming in and getting mad that we sold out of the very items we told them would sell out three weeks ago.
I let them vent away, it's not worth arguing over it.

I was pleasantly surprised that most people were friendly when I went to the mall yesterday.

The only thing I was truly amazed by was that people actually parked 3 across in the lot.
I understand that there's ice/snow on the ground so you can't tell where the lines are but it's common sense not to block people in when you're parking. :teacher:
I was wondering, though, if they would just tow both cars blocking the middle one in or what b/c you couldn't determine which car got there last. If I would be livid if my car had to be towed b/c some idiot was too lazy to find another spot...

My pet peeve is people who don't even get out their wallets until the cashier gives them a total.

I mean, we are all standing in line to PAY for our stuff, so it stands to reason that the cashier is going to ask for MONEY. Why not get your credit card or checkbook out while the cashier is ringing up your stuff?

I hear that! And some of it is SO LOUD! Even in McDonalds today, I had my headphones on but could still hear the music.

Oh that same note, why don't people start filling out the check if that's their method of payment? Merchant, date, signature, fill them in while your waiting! I don't get it :confused3

Luckily with the parking in my area, the malls have valet parking. I never do this except during the Holiday season, and then it is worth the $5.00.

My pet peeve is when you are walking down the main aisle of the mall, going with the flow, and then all of a sudden a family of 4,5,6 etc. just stops in the middle to talk about where to go, causing a backup and making everyone go around them.

I think this always bothers me because I try and make sure to get out of the "flow" when talking to DH and the kids.

Shoppers that let their kids run wild in the stores while they shop.

Working down at the local mall I'm usually there very early so when I leave it's mid afternoon. I'm telling they're stalking me waiting for my parking space. The look of desperation is hysterical.

DW Lauri was shopping at Target on Thursday and called me to tell me that the world's idiots are alive and well and shopping at Target. :rotfl:

She was trying to buy stocking stuffers and was going down the aisle with all the novelty Christmas candy - pretty busy aisle, right?

Well, apparently these 2 ditzy soccer moms, kids in tow all over the place, have a long lost reunion in this aisle. Well as you know, the aisles in Target comfortably fit 2 carriages, there is no passing when carriages are side to side.

They are yakking and yakking about thier latest kids activities and then moved on to their latest ailments, oblivious to DW trying to ask them to kindly move single file so she can continue to shop.

Finally one of them looks at DW and says "Oh, Do you want me to move so you can get past us?" Poor Lauri, she had a hard time coming up with a response that could not be taken as another way to say "DUH".

They actually rolled their eyes at her and made comments about her breaking up their nice chat. The nerve of DW - expecting to be able to SHOP in a store in the Christmas section during Christmas! What was she thinking?

I told her she should have answered them with a "no, I'm fine sitting right here, I love hearing about other peoples kids wetting the beds and their mom's unexplained rash"

Given time I am sure that is very close to what Lauri would have come up with :rotfl: :rotfl:
Some people are just crazy and this time of year brings them all out

Especially the ones that follow you so close that their bumper is about 2 ft from your legs!

To show you how DW Lauri got the nickname MeanLaureen, during these busy times, if she has had enough with rude people and parking lot chaos, she will walk to her car, but not down the aisle she parked in. She'll have one of these vultures 2 feet from her ankles and then cut between the spaces to her car parked an aisle away. Told you she was mean. :rotfl:

Obi-Wan, that is classic!! I will have to remember that one!!! :)

Dh and I went shopping yesterday and here are some of the things we saw: at Target, a car was waiting to pull into a parking spot that someone was vacating and another car backs out of his spot right into the drivers door of the waiting car, THEN some JERK walks by and yells "oh, way to look around before you pull out and starts laughing". The driver of the waiting car asked the jerk if he would be a "witness" for the accident and he just laughed and walked away.

At JC Penny's, we were buying a basketball shirt for DS and had just finished our transaction, hadn't even gotten the bag off the counter and this woman pushes through the line (she was not next in line) and started yelling at the clerk "I just bought this at another register and half my stuff is missing". This was after she pushed me out of the way, sorry, excuse me for breathing your air. Dh said to "me" rather loudly "how do they know she didn't take the stuff out of her bag and put it in her car"? I laughed.

People are just so rude. It's all about them.

I dislike unorganized lines. I don't hate waiting, as long as everyone knows how the lines work, i.e., is there 1 big line for all cashiers, or individual lines.

I dislike the parking lot vultures, but since I walk to the mall (it's very close to home), I get the last laugh!

Oh, I can do that one better. I worked for a department store while I was in college. The worked out a deal with a bank that had a branch in the mall and onl the mall perimeter (Huge mall on LI, btw) that they would cash our checks.

The one across the mall perimeter was actually the closer location to our store, so I'd walk across the parking lot to get my check cashed...and the parking vultures would follow. I'd cut across, I'd wave them up, only to get to the permeter road and cross! :rotfl: At 20 years old, I thought it was the funniest thing.

The lesson I learned from that is that if I go three or four rows away from any mall entrance, plentiful parking can be found with no waiting!
