Biggest ADR Letdown?

The responses in this thread bring up a question for me and I hope its alright to ask it here.

In regards to Ohana, are they normally slow about bringing out more food? I know if you eat slower, you eat less (takes the brain a while to realize the stomach is full) so is this maybe the reason for that? Never eat there before but planned to go there on the evening of our arrival day. Not so sure now. If there is one thing I literally hate, its slow service in a place like this.

We actually found just the opposite. They brought the food out TOO fast for us. It felt like we'd barely touched the salad and the next thing was out and then the next and then the next. I like a little more leisurely pace and it almost felt rushed. Still wonderful food--that would have been my only complaint.

I always find threads like this interesting as it still comes down to perception and experience. For example... I like/do not like ________ (insert name of restaurant here) because of ______ (insert experience). It is the same for us. We have had great experiences at BOG but horrible at Mama Melrose and a couple others. I commend those who try the restaurants more than once that they had a bad experience with because sometimes it just depends on the day and the wait staff.

Ohana. The food was okay, but the service was awful. I'm not a fan of the bread pudding, either. DH liked it though.

Dinner at BOG last month.

We loved the atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly. Meeting the beast was really cool.

But the food was blah. We ate it. The kids enjoyed it but it was not worth the money.

We will do BOG lunch next time.

It was Ohana for us as well. The Bread Pudding was the only thing I really enjoyed and we love to eat this style of food at home.

Chef Mickey's for us, for many of the same reasons listed before. Food dried out, but mainly because it is a rushed experience with little time to enjoy. Kids seemed to have outgrown it, whew!

BOG lunch. I was so excited to grab a last minute reservation there for trip 3 weeks ago but thought the food was blah and I didn't finish it. I was disappointed!

O'Hana's for us. We've given it 5 or 6 tries for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was good. For dinner, we felt like we were stuck in a corner and forgotten - even though we weren't actually in a corner every time! It was just verrryyyy slow service. They came around the 1st time, then you never see them again for drink or food refills for the longest time. The last time we were there, one of my sons got up and went and found our waitress and asked if she could get us some drink refills. It was very frustrating. And for $50 per person, it's just not worth it to us any more.

The few times I've had dinner at Coral Reef I've felt super rushed by the staff, but I do enjoy the atmosphere. I find the food pretty good, but will probably not eat there again for years to come just because of the rushed experiences. Also one (and only) dinner at Yachtsman was super salty, over salty - the meal was a total letdown, even though our waiter was amazing!

The worst meal I have ever had at WDW was at Chef Mickey, but it was not my biggest let down. I went there knowing the reviews and was hoping for the best, I ended up getting the worst. But the biggest ADR let down I have ever had was at LeCellier. :sad1:

We went to LeCellier at the peak of it's hype a few years ago. We bought into it hook, line and sinker. I read all the reviews where people were saying it was almost an out of body experience and left them in a total state of euphoria. There were endless raves about the beer cheese soup and also how incredible the Mushroom Filet Steak was the best steak that could be found on a dinner plate anywhere on this planet known as Earth. Boy was I gullible.

When we arrived we were seated almost 45 minutes past our ADR. We were placed next to the servers station and the entrance to the restroom. We asked nicely to be moved and that we would wait if necessary. We were told by the manager that we could not. The constant flow of servers next to us at the station along with the steady traffic heading to the rest rooms was a big time turn-off for us. Perhaps because of this our opinion of the food was tempered. I thought the beer cheese soup was decent, but not what I would call great. As for the mushroom steak; it was very, and yes I will use the word, very Outback in it's quality. The mushroom sauce poured over it tasted like Campbell's mushroom soup straight from the can and the risotto was no different than Minute Rice. I was never so disappointed in a restaurant ADR as that one and to this day it is still my biggest disappointment in all of WDW. Never again will I go there. :sad2:

Ohana breakfast for sure. We had along wait we were seated in a great location. The service was incredibly slow. I asked for more meat because that was the main thing my sons eat she came out with around 3 pieces. The characters came out so close together that Mickey bypassed us and went on to a bigger table where he was for close to 15 minutes until they started their dance. After the dance most of the diners left. Mickey moved on to another table, at which time I went to the manager just as she was about to send him over someone from the big table went to his handler and brought him back to their table.

That was several years ago. In May I decided I was ready to give it another chance. DH said no way. My sons and I are planning a breakfast for our Nov trip

Coral Reef. Food was average, service was slow, what could've been a cool atmosphere observing the aquarium was spoiled by how LOUD it was.

Maya Grill a few years ago. I had the chicken flautas as an appetizer. The first bite was lukewarm, the second bite was still partially frozen. I should have spit it out but common decency overrode self preservation and I swallowed it. Lo and behold, two days later, I was as sick as I have ever been in my life. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I was dying. It cost us two park days and I really did not feel 100% better for a week. Lesson learned, the hard way.

Dinner at Biergarten. There just wasnt a huge selection of options. The atmosphere was great tho :). The other let down for me was Coral Reef for dinner. Bad service amd mediocre food. However, ive only been there once and am willing to give it another try.

Seems like a common theme here is though shall avoid Ohana, ha!
I always loved it. When I Was working as a CM we went at least once a month always awesome! Especially at breakfast. I guess it depends on perspectives and viewpoints etc :) Always had great speed of service at dinner and food was always yummy and hot :) I even like my steak well done and got it! :)
