Hello all!

My DH and I would love to eat at BTRBBQ this coming October, but my kids are not into BBQ. Neither one will eat BBQ chicken or ribs or anything else delicious. My question is, if I feed the kids ahead of time and order them dessert to eat at BTRBBQ while we eat all that BBQ goodness is that okay? Or, will I be charged for them to eat there too even though they aren't eating any of the BBQ?

My guess is they will be charged if they come in with you, which I think is pretty standard with all you can eat/buffet restaurants. Otherwise how would they know if they are eating from the buckets of food that are set on the table. You can always call dining and ask but I'm guessing yes.

Good question. Is it possible to just book for dessert? I saw a dessert on the fall eats blog I want, but my daughter is not a fan of BBQ either so we thought about just going for dessert.

I believe the PP is correct...however, a call to the dining hotline is always a good first step to see if accommodations can made

We did exactly that yesterday. We did dinner on Saturday night but had no room for dessert. While sitting in the Grand Californian lobby escaping the heat yesterday I booked us a reservation for later that afternoon. It ended up not being crowded so we probably didn't need the reservation. They had no problem at all with us just ordering dessert.

Maybe they will dig in if they see other people doing it. Monkey-see, monkey-do, type of thing, KWIM? I am hoping that's what my DD will do, as she is pretty picky (like me). Otherwise, I am sure she will gorge herself on cornbread! lol

You can do just dessert but keep in mind they take about half an hour to come out

In the past my adult daughter would go to BTRBBQ with me and not order food, as she was not a fan. There was no charge for her to be in the restaurant and not order. Thankfully she no longer dislikes BBQ and is bummed BTRBBQ will be closing!

We have done that with my son. We purchase a pizza for him and bring it with us. Then let the server know only to bring food for three. They do not charge us for my DS, and at the same time, we also make sure that our DS understands beforehand that he cannot eat any of the food from the BBQ except dessert (since that is an additional price).

So far we haven't had a problem doing this. But make sure to clarify this with the server in advance.
