Big thunder ranch bbq...new?

There is no charge for children under 3. We've gone twice with our DS who is 5 but because of medical issues he is unable to eat the food there (he can only eat pureed food) and both times they have listed him on the bill as an "infant" and there was no charge.

Thanks for the info! I would like to go when we visit in 2 weeks, but was on the fence because $10 for my 2 year old seemed like a lot. He just can't eat $10 worth of food!

I went once and was 6 months preggers and the thought off BBQ made me puke (I was still barfing daily) and they didn't charge me at all, they were very nice about it...I mean really it is the magic of Disney, right!??!?!

But my family LOVED LOVED LOVED IT and my SD is a BBQ snob and he now goes everytime we go!

We are BBQ snobs and loved it. We went Nov 2009 and I would do it again in a heartbeat. We left stuff and everyone found something they liked.

Just made our reservation there last week for our trip in March! Can't wait to try it out!

...so this is not the Golden horseshoe?

Definitely not the Golden Horseshoe. You reach Big Thunder Ranch off the Big Thunder Trail, which goes from FantasyLand to FrontierLand behind Big Thunder Mountain.

You can see it at the top of this map. Note the Golden Horseshoe is way at the bottom.

Last time we were there it was still under construction. How important are reservations for this place? Is it something that we could make reservations at the park for the same day?

We went there on a Sat night last month with no reservations and had to wait 15 min for a table. It was between 6 and 7 pm. I would guess you can get a same day reservation. They have picnic tables and alot of them.

Last august Jessie & Woody were there for pictures & autographs, just around the entrance.

They are near the Big Thunder petting zoo area. They are easy to find, rotate out but always ask at City Hall to see when they are scheduled to be there. :) Or check the schedule, they are llisted there as well. :)

...so this is not the Golden horseshoe?

the corn looks great but I am a self confessed corn snob our area grows super super sweet corn would this disappoint?

No, definitely not the Golden Horseshoe, the BBQ is outdoor seating. It's great on a nice day. :) And honestly, altho the corn is good it's not great, if you've been spoiled by awesome corn this won't be "all that" but it's still good. Don't let it be a deal breaker tho, if you prefer to go for lunch then do it, DBF and I like to do lunch because then we can skip dinner. lol :) Sausages & corn wheels are only served with dinner. :)

Does anyone know if you have to pay for children under the age of 3?

Children under 3 are free, you can share your food with them but they do not pay.

I would say that off season or off time it's not necessary to have reservations, but during busy seasons or "normal" eating times it's more important. DBF and I have been able to walk up and wait 15 min to get a table, but we eat at off times. :) Especially if it's all you can eat, we like to go around 2-3 and we eat a lot so we can skip the whole dinner meal thing. :)

Perfect! After seeing those pictures I now this will be a must do on our list now.

We are supposed to eat there on the 21st. I must say I am looking forward to it, and if the current weather holds it will be perfect.

My husband and I ate there last summer and we loved it. The ribs were delicious and tender too. It is all you can eat, so if you want more, they bring you another tub. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't open when we were there a couple of weeks ago. Right now during the off season, it's only open Friday-Sun. Man, that makes me want some BBQ.......

During the first couple of months of the year, the Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue is only open Thursday thru Sunday, xcept for selected Mondays. It is open on Monday, February 14th for Valentine's Day.

My family ate here in September 2010. Everyone really enjoyed it. We also got their warm chocolate chip cookie sundae dessert to share. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had! Also next door is the petting zoo. When I went both Jesse and Woody were there.

Does anyone know when BTRBBQ will start being open on weekdays?

The first thing that the rest of the family brought up was the BBQ when we are there in August, they want me to make reservations for it again. It was very busy, they had a 30 to 45 minute wait time and we were bulging at the seams when we left.

The Ranch is open all 7 days next week for Presidents Day week. I believe it goes back to regular 7 days/week in mid March.

The vegetarian option is skewers with tofu, red potatoes, squash, bell pepper and onions. Very tasty! There used to be mushrooms, but I haven't seen any mushrooms lately. The skewers replace the meats for those eating vegetarian, as all of the sides are vegetarian. And, of course, they are all you can eat. Just make sure to let the server know as soon as you can that you want the vegetarian skewers as they may take a few minutes extra.

Why is it going to be open all Presidents Day week? And do they still do it in the rain?
