Big Thunder Ranch BBQ - menu question

We're trying to decide where we're going to eat during our upcoming trip. My 4yo son loves Woody and Jessie and my BIL and I are both big fans of both BBQ and all-you-can-eat, so we're thinking about checking out the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ for lunch one day.

However, my husband and BIL do not eat pork. They will both happily eat the chicken, and won't have a problem with it if it is served along with the ribs... so they'd still get a decent meal... except that I'm wondering if the ranch beans are made with pork? So often this dish is made with bacon or fatback or something similar, which would make it off-limits for them and leave them with a meal of chicken, corn bread, and cole slaw (which would be kind of a bummer!)

(I swear, it's so much easier being me - I will eat anything you put in front of me!)

I don't remember it having bacon in it. You can call Disney dinning and ask them. They might know.

Are you reserving a meal a head of time?

I know at WDW you can put dietary restrictions on when you book your reservation. The chef usually subs any items that you can't have with similar items or the same without the ingredients you can't have.

I'm sure DL must have something similar. If not I guess I will get a wake up call in September when I take my lactose intollerant niece.

Tell them of the dietary issue on check in. I are at the Big Thunder Ranch and told them I was a vegetarian. I received grilled veggies and tofu. The rest of my party received buckets of meat.

If you tell them of the pork issue, they will exclude the pork products from the bucket of meat.

How is the food in general?? Wanting to possibly book a ressie.

I (and my family) think its the best meal in the parks. Its the ONLY must eat resteraunt we have at DL/ DCA. While its not the best BBQ in the world it is high quality. All the meats are cooked perfectly and the BBQ sauce is very good. I dont eat the beans or slaw but DW and DFIL both loved everything. And you get all you can eat with usually good service (2 out of 3times we have eaten there we had very good service and once we had not very good service in that our server took a long time with everything, taking our drink order, getting us drinks, getting us food or refills etc).

I love the sauce, so does DBF, and we both have different styles when it comes to BBQ sauce. LOL I like it a bit spicy, he doesn't but we love the BTRBBQ sauce. We also like the beans (no pork that I've ever seen) and the cole slaw, we like the slaw so much I make it at home.
If you let them know ahead of time you don't "do" pork they will be sure to accommodate you.

We love the food and the cute little show. My kids have such a great time. I thought I heard at one time that the beans were vegetarian. Has anybody else heard this?

I agree that this place has now become the best in the park, both food and value. As long as the weather is decent, this is a "must" for our family every time.

Yes, the beans are vegetarian. They are pretty tasty, too. For the original poster, just tell your server you don't want the ribs (or want only a minimal amount), and they should accommodate that and bring out more chicken.

Yes I agree with the others, tell them on check in and then again tell your server. It is one of my favorite places to eat. My kids love corn on the cob and they had 4 refills of just that while the rest of us pigged out!
