Big Thunder Ranch at Halloween

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows what will be going on at Big Thunder Ranch over halloween. There is mention that something special and halloweeny will be going on but not what it is. But there is also mention that the normal BBQ will still be happening - I am confused

Does anybody know what the special event halloween thing they usually have going on there is? And will that be taking the place of the BBQ or running alongside it? Sorry for all the questions but getting information out of Disneyland is like pulling teeth

As an aside, is it necessary to make PS for the BBQ or would we be pretty safe just walking up?

I read that and Im thinking it runs with the bbq.

Last year you could buy a cookie and frost it and woody and friends would put on a skit and then you could get pics with them.

I hope this is what they have planned my daughter wants to do it again.

They have the area all decorated for Halloween, there are real carved pumpkins and occasionally you will see the cast member who carves them out working on pumpkins, they will also have the cookies to decorate for sale in that area as well. The petting zoo will still be there as well. We love all the decorations for the Halloween season.

Yesk, but that was the previous years. Where exactly will they be putting cake decorating if it returns, kwim? Assuming the BBQ continues running the way it is, there's no stage for Woody and Co. to put on their shows as they have in the past (for anyone who chooses not to eat at the BBQ). I can't think that there's possibly enough room in the one half of the Ranch with the cabin that would have the space to put in a bunch of tables to walk in and hang out the way it used to be

Here's hoping...


ETA: Just read over the Disney press release on this year's Halloween happenings, specifically, here's the segment about the Ranch area:

"Visitors to Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland will sometimes find the ranch animals dressed in costume for a seasonal Halloween Roundup, with pumpkin carvers, Halloween décor and activities for youngsters, all presided over by Sheriff Woody.


· Next door at Big Thunder Barbecue, Miss Chris and the Roundup musicians add Halloween songs to their repertoire. "

So it would seem they're keeping the carvers, coloring, and letting Woody (perhaps Jessie, too?) roam around in there as well, while the BBQ area will only be adding a few songs for the Holidays. No mention of the decorating the "Potato Head Cakes."

The Disneyland Website does say that all the original Big Thunder Ranch traditions for Halloween will be back so I am sure they will either suspend the BBQ and have them mixed together.

It was there as of Monday (Labor Day) and still a character meal.

I am still unclear if it is going to stay through the holidays, but it is still needed, as we need more table service.

...What? There are no characters at the meal anymore. They haven't been there for about a month to visit the tables or perform in any stage shows. There is singing, piano playing, and guitar playing still being performed, but the characters have been removed from the dining portion of the venue for a while now.

I've just called Disney Dining and asked about the barbecue.

It is definitely not a character meal anymore in their books. I was told that there is still the stage show (but without characters), but there are no characters roaming around anymore.

The CM I spoke to was not aware of the barbecue not happening during Halloween Time.
