As this is our fave ride we rode it as often as we could before it closed for 21st August. On our first ride of the last day of it being open, we noticed that the seats were a little wet when we got on but just thought it was down to rain showers. Well, it's not rain!!! You are now sprayed with water from the top of the tunnel when the train comes out into the daylight after the first dark climb under the lake and no, there is no avoiding it!!! A great addition to an already brilliant ride! :wizard:

I remember that when we went in July, I did not know that it was new though as I had only been on the ride once before so could not remember all the detail.

Sounds fun, but I truly hope they don't do it during the depths of winter!!!! :cold:

There was water then when we were there in July aswell....I thought it had always been there, but then again I don't remember it being there in December (it would probably freeze!)

As far as I know, the facility to do this has always been there, but they switch it on and off depending on the weather (ie. how cold it is), so most people never see it switched on.

During cold months, the water still runs, but it goes either side of the train, so it's like you're going through a gap in a waterfall.

When we were there on August 18 and 19, we experienced the water one time but not the other. Loved the coaster, but it seems much faster than the one at WDW and much more of the ride is inside. My one 'beef' is that they NEED garbage cans in the queue lines! Trash was being stacked on barrels everywhere! Good ride though.

We've often had the water going either side of the train leading to a competition between me an my DGF where we try to pus eac other as close to the water as possible to get the other wet. Simple thngs please simple minds :)

Oh god dd will freak at that in October. Hope it's dry but too cold lol.

Wow, I really thought that it was something new. We rode this at least ten times during the previous days and it wasn't turned on then, nor was it when we rode last summer. And I am very glad to say that it wasn't turned on last Christmas! :cold: But I do hope I get to experience it again, provided it's a hot sunny day! :sunny:

Is it still closed? Does anyone know when it will reopen? We go for our first ever disney trip on 14th Sep and I think this would be my daughters favourite ride if she had the chance to go on.

Sorry kiradylan, according to the DLP website it's closed from 21 August to 13 October 2006 :confused3

This is what awaits you at BTM

and lots and lots of green fencing. And some poor CMs dressed as cowboys explaining to everyone that it's closed until 13th October!!

It's closed until the 13th October. It opens in time for our holiday. But small world is closed.

I actually thought this waterfall is meant to seperate either side of the train, so you almost but don't quite get wet. Maybe they'd been messing with it getting the ride ready for closure and it started splashing in the wrong direction? :teeth: It's true they only use it on random days though, same as the water splash sprays at the front of the mountain.

The waterfall is meant to be a key storypoint in the ride I think, to show that the mine you just travelled through is now filling with water. You go through the water splash later, which is meant to show the island and tunnels being flooded, and then later the rocks falling in on the track - the Imagineers were trying to show that you might not make it back to the mainland!

Ooh, thanks for the info. :)

I like to think they messed with the water to give us a little treat seeing as it was the ride's last day as even the water splash at the front of the mountain was more intense than usual! :umbrella:
