I haven't been on this ride before (it's a definite must for me in December!). Are there many dips/drops and is it really fast? I'm wondering if my DD Louise will like it. She can be a chicken sometimes lol. However, having said that, for those of you who have been to Chessington's, she loves Dragon Falls and the Runaway Train ride. Is BTM similar to Runaway Train?

sorry Ive not been to Chessington so cant compare but I love BTM and so does DD (she now 8 but first rode it when she was 6 and loved it then as well)
The bit I hated at first was it going underground to get to the island - I love this now though

how old is your dd? My dd went on BTM last year when she had just turned 5 and she probably pooped herself going round but said she liked it at the end and wants to go on again this year. I dont think its that bad a ride.

My 5 year old loves it. It is a little faster and not as tightly wound as the RMT in Chessington, and there are some awesome effects. Go on it, you'll love it, I am sure.

Thanks for your replies. Sounds like she shd be able to cope with it (she's 6). Might get hubby (and DS who's 3) to queue up with us as well. So if she enjoys the ride, she can go on it again but with him instead (we've never bothered using the baby switch system before).

There are plenty of spots for her to stand and watch first :thumbsup2 I haven't done any of the rides you mentioned to compare but I am sure you will all enjoy it :)

Is your DS tall enough? My DD was at 3 and loved Thunder Mountain (she still does!). I'd say if your DD likes the RMT at Chessington she'll be fine on Thunder Mountain.

your ds may be tall enough my dd is very petite and she was just tall enough and at the time in age 3-4 clothes, she also just scrraped crush coaster probably with the help of her snow boots!

Hmm, he's about 98 cm now I think, so he might've grown a bit by then and with shoes, he might just about scrape through lol. I don't know though - we took him on to the Dragon Falls ride at Chessington's and I think that 'huge drop' right at the very end might have scarred him for life re: big rides :rotfl: .

We're just back from DLRP, we rode DTM > 20 times, absolutely fantastic. Our youngest daughter is 5 years (although she also rode Tower of Terror 5 times, so she may not be representative of her age group!). There are some drops and sharp turns on DTM, and a dark section at the end of the ride (with turns and drops), but none that I would describe as 'big'. Definitely worth trying, and I am sure you will all be addicted in no time!! :woohoo:

my dd is 5 and i didnt take her on it she said she was going on as a friend had done it when she seen it she said no way and when i went on im glad i didnt take her as she is a real chicken and would have been terrified lol

my 4 year old went on this last year and it was his favourite ride.. first time round he looked white lol..but then asked to go on again...and again.....
