Big Thunder BBQ reservation...

Yeah, unless I'm looking at the wrong thing. I went to my reservation and it said "modify guests" or whatever. And that's where I added the names/ages. Very strange though.

We ate at the BBQ a little over a year ago and we had a child that was 2 (actually she turned 3 on the trip), she ate a lot and she was not charged. Nor was she charged on her birthday when we ate at AG. Because she was 2 when the trip started she was considered 2 for the whole visit so no park tickets needed and she was free when we ate.
We also took my DD15 for her 10th birthday, because she was 9 when the trip started she was considered 9 for the whole visit and she was charged the 3-9 price for her meals.

I've never, not once, had a problem changing my party size when walking up to check in for a reservation, even during the most crowded times, either at DLR or WDW.

-Last Friday we checked into our CCR lunch, and they weren't even letting people into the building because they were "fully committed" for the day. The dining room was almost half empty.

-We had a dinner reservation for two at Be Our Guest during prime dinner hour, which is notoriously difficult to reserve. We showed up with 6, and were seated within ten minutes. In front of the fireplace, no less.

In both cases, calling to change the number of people would get the answer from a CM animatron that "nothing is available." Don't believe them. They only know how to read off a screen. The host at the restaurant will accommodate you.

Re: the "fire code" nonsense: any given restaurant has far fewer seats than fire code permits. Do you really think that people hired to read off a screen are going to be trusted to learn and follow a fire code?!

I didn't know you could go just for dessert, good to know!

We were debating in eating here, largely because my daughter will be free. We decided not to, but we might try a last minute ressie or walk up if we change our mind.
