Big Thumbs Up for Pop Century!!!

We'll be there in 44 days!!

It will be our first time at Pop! I hope we like it as much as we liked ASMu in October!!

Don't forget to look for the hidden Mickey in the food court ceiling...DH saw it and kept meaning to show it to me but we always got side-tracked. Oh well, there's always next time!

Oh, another thing we liked about the food court was the tye-dyed bread. You could buy two slices of it out of the pastry case along with a packet of peanut butter (jelly was free and always available). It was a really cool, light meal for the kids on the days they weren't as hungry or just wanted a snack.

Which are preferred rooms there? Is it just the 60's buildings?

Hi, we are going to Pop Century for our first time Jan.22-28th. I requested a ground floor because of the arthritis in my knee. Do you think the noise will be a big factor on the ground floor? Also, which building should I request? I would like to be close to a parking lot as we will drive to most parks instead of using the buses. Any help you can provide will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Diznenut - yes, the 60s is the preferred era (I was born in that era, too!). I've stayed in the 50s, 80s & 90s - and will be staying in the other two in January & May. This is all thanks to Tyler (formerly known as ChipandDaleExpress), who was a Pop opening day CM. If it weren't for his Pop thread, I may never have tried this resort. Pop rocks! Thanks, Tyler!!!

As far as going in Jan. I don't know about the amount of people visiting, we just went mid October and really had no problems with the noise level. Sure there were kids there but not as many as you would find in the summer months, I am sure. Also, how much time do you spend in your room anyway. :confused3

We stayed in the 50's section and on the first floor. I called down there to request a room close to the 60's section (that is where the lobby, food court, arcade, gift shop) is located. We were very happy with the room they gave us. The room is very clean and since we don't have any kids, we asked for a Non-smoking, King and had plenty of room. The resort is a lot of fun actually. Not bad for a value resort on Disney property.

We didn't rent a car so unfortunately, I cannot answer any questions on that one for you. You can give them a call down there and just "request a certain area" if you like and see what location would be best for you and close to a parking lot. We went through a travel agent and gave her our requests with rooms, etc. but also, you have an option of calling down there and speaking with a reservationist to give them your requests also. They don't download any information in their database until 5-7 days prior to your arrival. That way, it may be a better chance to get a room "where" you want.

Also, we found like so many others, that the refillable mug is worth it. Get that as soon as you get there. You can get soda, coffee, hot chocolate, slurpees (frozen soda) for free refills. Just use the mug there on the resort. Cannot use at other properties. The mug is only good for the length of your stay too. You will be surprised at the variety of food and also the size of the gift shop there. Big enough for us. :earboy2:

The food court is open from 6 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at night so remember that when you want your refills. Also, I got sick down there half-way through my trip and they are limited on cold/cough medicine. Oh, yeah! OH, FYI: THERE IS NO GUM SOLD AT ALL AT DISNEY OR AT THE AIRPORT. So, if you like chewing gum, buy it and bring with you. You will have a lot of fun and don't forget to leave all your worries at home. YOU ARE AT DISNEY! :Pinkbounc :earsgirl: :earboy2: :wave2:
