Big things coming for Disneyland?

I have some new disneyland news and rumors to be talked about. Some I have mentioned in the past now its just coming from a different source. Micechat has a new article out today about lots being in store for the 60th anniversary of Disneyland resort. Tom Staggs and Bob Iger along with other executives have been walking the disneyland parks over the last two weeks to see how these ideas would work.

1. Soarin over california upgrades

2. Paradise Pier upgrades

3. Monstropolis for the hollywood backlot and muppet area

4. Upgrades to the fantasyland dark rides (already underway)

5. Club 33 changes (already underway)

6. Marvel mini-land behind tower of terror in the timon parking lot. They are looking into expanding into this lot for a meet and greet area no large rides just a permanent meet area for marvel characters. Also looking at adding a theater of sorts.

7. New Steve Davison night parade for Disneyland

8. New castle show, new fireworks, and update to world of color

9. Diamond decor for the diamond anniversary

10. Through a third party disney has quietly been buying land around the the Disneyland resort. Rumors are a large parking structure is in store for this new purchased land.

We were in Disneyland in June and our Disneyland Resort Express bus driver was talking about the land grab and parking structure you referenced in 10. A new parking structure could free up land from parking lots for expansion. He even pointed out some areas that Disney wanted while we were headed to the John Wayne Airport. Not sure how accurate he was but he sure spoke with confidence about what he was saying! Wish I owned some of that land! Lol

Bus drivers that work for disney aren't the brightest but disney has always wanted more land in Anaheim.

I'm here now at Disneyland and the only rumour I heard was Marvel going to DCA because they wanted to keep DL mainly for Star Wars

Wow I didn't mean to start an attack on bus drivers. I was simply stating that I had heard something similar from a bus driver when I was there in June and was stating very tongue in cheek that he spoke with confidence. Of course residents in the Anaheim area keep up with the Disneyland rumors, internet info, gossip, etc because Disney's actions affect their lives. As another poster stated Disney has always wanted more land in Anaheim. Honestly, everything related to Disneyland and Walt Disney World is all just rumor and speculation until Disney makes announcements themselves. It is fun to speculate and wonder what their next moves will be because presumably everyone who visits DisBoards has a love and interest in Disney. Once again, I was just commenting on what I had heard on a recent trip. The bus driver I referred to was very nice and was simply talking about what he had heard much as people post what they have heard on these kinds of sites.

I by no means am trying to attack on bus drivers every bus driver I have had on disney property are always very friendly and helpful. They just like to tell stories at WDW about the new things coming. In WDW bus driver CMs have the perception of being people who tell rumors that make no sense or are very far fetched yet they believe it 100%. Heck I would love to retire and become a disney bus driver.

1. Soarin over california upgrades - Not sure about this one. Soarin is located at Disney California Adventures, so it wouldn't make much sense to have the rumored Soarin over the World replacing the California version. Who knows though. An updated look through California, perhaps?

3. Monstropolis for the hollywood backlot and muppet area - The infamous Monsters Inc. Door Coaster, perhaps?

Apparently they've been purchasing land and relocating parking space over a few years already, and I'm sure Disney thinks the DLR still has some room to grow, economically speaking of course. It's fairly possible that they're looking for different options to expand their California resort. Land is all they need.

My dad's dream was to retire and become a WDW bus driver. Unfortunately he cannot drive anymore following a heart attack and subsequent brain damage from being under oxygenated during the heart attack. He still loves to go to WDW and I think if reincarnation is real he will come back as a WDW bus driver! And he would be great at "spinning yarns" for the guests on the bus! Lol

Perhaps Disney is looking to gain another DVC Foothold at DLR. It's probably the one thing most DVC Members lament is lack of rooms available at the GC.

1. Yes it is supposed to be an updates california version not a world version.

2. They are not getting rid of the pier just some upgrades and theming like you said.

3. The door coaster is supposed to be there

6. marvel mini-land was the first i heard about it in the article. I know in the past a few years ago disney did plan on adding a larger marvel land in DLR but plans were scratched.

10. I wish they would add another resort there as well. I think parking structures would work well in disneyland especially if they want to expand.
