Big runDisney announcement coming in April

This was on the runDisney page, which I think is a good hint that it's a tri at D-land.

"The 3 emcees for the TV show on the opening day of Disneyland in 1955 were Ronald Reagan, Art Linkletter and Bob/Charles Cummings.

If it is a tri at Disneyland... where would the swim part take place? There's not very much water around there :confused3

I'm just hoping (but not expecting it will happen) they announce this race before the price increase for the W&D. I know it's only a $10 increase after the 18th, but that's $10 I could spend on something else.

They have already had Tri's at Disneyland. There is actually a bit of water at DL - just not the best water to swim in, but they are also close to a few different locations with great Swimming pools. So it is possible.

They did a Tri, I think it was 3 years ago, it was put on by Trek Women's tri. The swim part was in DCA in the lake in front of the ferris wheel and California Screamin. The girls came out all dyed from the dye in the water. The year after, I did it, but they changed it to a bi b/c of the World of Color pipes and stuff. However Trek left after that year. The only swimable water at DL/DCA that I can think of would have to be in a pool. There's no way I can picture people swimming in the Rivers of America. We'd be walking around the park after the race all dyed again. But hey, at least you would be able to tell who did the race! :rotfl2:

Having never been to DL, I have to ask... what color were they dyed?

It was either brown or green. They briefly talked about it during a speaker at the expo they had. The lady said it was b/c of the color they put in the water. I think the Rivers of America are dyed with a greenish color. As much as I would like to say that I've done a tri at DL, I'm kinda glad I missed it and the dye color. I don't think I could pull of greenish colored skin. :goodvibes

I have no idea what the clues mean. But, going with the tri idea, Anaheim is close to the ocean. They could easily plan a swim in the Pacific, bike ride to Anaheim, followed by a run.

I think this definitely means there is a race at DL - but my theory is still that they are adding one at both parks. The text before this clue in the wall post is that Run Disney enjoyed "hosting" these clues, which seems to align perfectly with the Disneyland emcees.

For some reason, I've had the Disneyland feeling too. Can't explain it. Certainly don't have any clue as to when or what the theme would be.:confused3

Next clue might come out today, if they follow their rough schedule, right?

One would think that but if the announcement isn't until the 19th, that gives them almost a week to drag it out.

My feeling too. For me, it's because I see 4 major runDisney weekends at WDW and only one at Disneyland. It'd be nice if they added another race weekend at Disneyland since they added the Coast-to-Coast medal.

Based on what "Gina" on the runDisney Facebook page has posted/solved, it looks like DL for sure. So - I'm out.
Happy for all the people out there who'll have a new Disney race, though. They're certainly due :cool1:

I'm thinking it's leaning more towards DL at this point as well. It won't totally count me out, as I've been looking for an excuse to go to DL. I'll just be out if it's a tri or any type of mixed race.

At least there's only 5 more days left until we know!

Am I the only one kind of hoping this is all an elaborate April Fools joke and there is no new race? At least then I can give them credit for great execution of the rouse as opposed to terrible execution of the clue-giving process.

The one thing it has done is increase the bandwidth of the RunD FB page. Not sure that it has endeared many folks to the process. I lost interest early... and I LOVE puzzles and mind games. But it just drug out w-a-y- t-o-o-o-o-o-o long

lol! i would love to still do the marathon but i'm due 11/25 and it's not enough recovery time. 2012 for sure though - if it means i have to keep my legs closed for a year! lol!

thanks! it's funny how on-line people know before family. i feel like you're not really telling if you're typing it instead of actually saying it. hahah

**************
anyway, someone on facebook said that the THREE men's names would hint at an ironman tri. blah. i hope it's not a tri.

Congrats, Nancy!!! :goodvibes
