would you use a TS on The Big River Grill or Espn on the Boardwalk? we will have 2 boys ages 4 and 6 that LOVE sports but wasnt sure if this was too bar like for them.....

ESPN club has 2 areas, one is the bar area, and one is the family oriented restaurant. If there are no big games and you are there at lunch, you can eat in the bar side with little drinking going on. The kids can play a playstation 2 game while waiting for food at no extra charge.

As for the food, IMO, ESPN is a lot tastier for roughly same cost. Waitstaff is very good. BRG is good but I wouldnt go out of my way for it. ESPN, I would make a special trip for. Not just for the atmosphere, but the food was that good.

Big River is much better to eat at than ESPN. ESPN smells like a toilet instead of good food cooking. We have tried many items from the menu at Big River, all have been good. We go there 3-6 times per year.

The deciding factor for me would be the boys. At 4 and 6 they will like the ESPN Better, more to see and do. The Big River will be nice but completly boring for them. At ESPN, the kids can play the playstations and with all the TV'S you never know what you will see, or what sport celebrity might show up. There is also an arcade right next to it that you can walk to by going through the ESPN gift shop. good luck

hmmm...I didn't know my sense of smell was that out of whack. I have eaten at ESPN several times and have enjoyed each experience. Plus on my last visit they let me stay in the dining room after closing so I could watch the end of a UCLA basketball game. They will always have a soft spot in my heart for that.

Having been to both several times and a sports fanatic myself, it's the ESPN Club hands down. In fact, I'd say the Big River Grille is more of the "bar" atmosphere. Yes, there is a bar at the ESPN Club but you don't have to be seated there. For the ages of your boys and if they love sports, ESPN is where you want to be. Also, I find there's more of a variety on the ESPN menu (I have a hard time finding anything on the Big River Grille). One thing - have your kids go to the bathroom while they are there.

Never noticed a "toilet-like" aroma coming from ESPN, and I worked in San Francisco for years, so I unfortunately have experienced that smell wafting from many a doorway as I passed by.

I'd go with ESPN. Big River Grill was just so-so for us. ESPN, imho, has better food and a more lively atmosphere your young sports fans will enjoy.

I would def. pick ESPN over Big River...
We went to both of them on our trip last July, and while I enjoyed them both..
I thought the food and the atmosphere of ESPN was much better.
Especially with your children, I would go to ESPN, much more to keep them interested.

I LOVE ESPN! It is so much fun, particulary if there is a game on you are interested in! I give it two thumbs up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Should say tho that if beer is one of your concerns, BRG is a much better choice. Pretty ordinary selection at ESPN.

The only similarity Big River has to a Disney restaurant is their prices. The inside needs a good cleaning and updating. Food is just OK but not worth the money.
Between the two ESPN wins easily.
I must add that there are much better places to eat than either of these in the Epcot resort area.

Do I need to make ADR's for ESPN?? What else is recommended on the Boardwalk besides these too.. I have 2 pickey eaters that are happy with grilled cheese and hotdogs. Im happy with grilled chicken sandwich as well. Nothing too fancy for this group! :thumbsup2

Can't make ADRs for either ESPN Club or Big River. ESPN shouldn't be too hard to get into unless there is a big game on, or you hit at the peak eating times. Big River has always been fairly easy to get into. We've eaten at both and liked them both.
I think that boys would much prefer ESPN Club. With all the tv's around, with various sporting events on, and a pretty varied menu it would work out quite nicely.

I just checked the red sox schedule and they are playing TAMPA BAY while we will be down there! Hopefully they will have that on!! :cool1:

If you can't see the game on a TV near your table, just ask your server and they'll try to accomodate you.

My vote would be ESPN Club. Our (then) 7 yr old son loved the fact he could play PS2 while we waited for the food...and my (then) 4 yr old daughter made extra bathroom trips just to see the TVs(yes, we don't get out much!) There also is a small arcade in part of the gift shop(a gift shop at WDW??).

Sorry I cannot comment on Big River Grille, however given the ages of your kids, would think ESPN is a perfect choice! :thumbsup2
