How is this place? My dh wants to try new places on our next trip and was looking at this. I just read some reviews on Allears. Yikes. I'm trying to talk him out of it now! So, Dissers, my go-to people......how is Big River Grille????

We liked it...
If you like Bar and Grill type food, you'll like it.
I enjoyed the filet, thought it was pretty good.

It's nice if you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

I gotta say the Cheesecake was fantastic!
The Chocolate Cakes was pretty good as well.

I wouldn't worry about dis's reviews...Ask about any place you'll get love it or hate it.
Dis also gives negative reviews to Ohana, and I think LeCell but both are very popular.
In the end it's your meal not theirs, go eat what sounds good to you.

Stick with a beer and a burger, and you'll be fine. The rest of the menu is hit or miss. Sitting outside is nice for people watching, weather permitting.

We ate there 2 years ago. Wasn't impressed at all. The food wasn't good. Found it to be favorless. DH did approve of the beer, he's a beer snub so it had to be good for him to like it.
I told him that he can stop in for beer but I won't eat there again.

After not liking the food the 1st time I went ( 10 years ago ) I gave it a second chance last year and was pleasantly surprised. We had soup and sandwiches and salad and all of it was good. Fresh and flavorful.

I go to Big River at least once every trip for lunch. The food is decent, the beers are good, the service is pretyy good and it is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks in the middle of the day.

It's our go-to place when we want a nice meal and don't want to concern ourselves with a reservation. I totally agree with the PP who said the staff is great - never had a problem with anyone and they really know their beer. Even if you don't like beer, it's a nice place to go.

I'm not quite sure why people have a problem with this place - it's a brewhouse. The food is not going to be gourmet.

Just to understand fully, Big River Grille is on the dining plan as a table service, but you can't make reservations? How long of a wait is it to get a table?

Thanks.

We've had good luck without adrs over the years. If there was any wait it was because we prefer to sit outside. We all love the blackened mahi mahi sandwiches.

DW & I love Big River, I usually have the Red Rocket Ribs, the wife loves the beer & cheese soup with a salad. Have eaten both inside and out, out is much much better. Great place just to sit outside on the boards and chill. The longest we've waited for dinner was about 15 mins. Lunch we've never waited more than 5 mins. The beer sampler is worth the trip alone.

You can't make ADRs for Big River through Disney on the phone or web site, but you CAN call the restaurant directly and they will make a res for you.
1-407-560-0253. Yes, they take 1 TS from the dining plan.

Usually not much of a wait without an ADR unless you want to eat right at dinner time or when Epcot closes, but having a reservation sure cuts down your wait time!

Exactly our experience! When we stayed at the Boardwalk, we ate there twice. Beer and burgers were great, second time I got the meatloaf and it was hard and dry on the edges.

Also, beware prices! We ordered the nachos and they were spicy! Asked for just chips and salsa for the kids, and were charged $6.99! Too much!

Beer was good both times :thumbsup2

We ate there a couple of years ago and all really liked it. We sat outside and watched the passer-byers on the boardwalk. Hubby and I had a Mahi Mahi sandwhich and it was fantastic.

I've seen the reviews on allears too - they don't match up with our experience there. Maybe we were just lucky, but we had a great time and great food.

I didn't realize that they take the dining plan...that's awesome. I'll have to put that on our list for December!

It's worth a try in my book. We went for lunch just last fall and really enjoyed it. My dh had the steak and shrimp and I had the macadamia crusted mahi.....both very good. And it was a walk-up for us we didn't need ressies, which is a nice way to stay flexible.

Take care!

Well, we didn't think the food was anything special, but THIS:

was special! My DH and I got to go out to dinner alone one night while my IL's watched the kids and sitting there watching the sun go down on the Boardwalk was worth the mediocre food. It's wasn't horrible, just not WOW or really worth the $80 we paid. I think I wouldn't eat there if I couldn't sit outside.

We loved the Big River Grille. I posted a review upon our return, and you can read about it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2143525&highlight=big+river

The beer is excellent, the location can't be beat, and the food is very good. I certainly would NOT have a burger and fries. You can get that anywhere. I had the "Blackened Mahi-Mahi Caesar Salad," and not only was it amazing, it was absolutely the most unique Caesar salad I have ever had.

Let you husband enjoy himself, and don't worry about the negative reviews. People have different tastes.

We love it. always go. Sometimes twice in a trip. Food is good, Beer is great. If it's nice you can sit on the boardwalk.
