We are thinking of going to the Big River Grille this summer for dinner. Opinions or reviews? What did you have? Any suggestions please.:rolleyes1

Being a big (desire not size:lmao: ) beer drinker I thoroughly enjoy Big River. The pale ale was one of the top three beers I've had in my life (and that's a long list!:drinking1 ) The food is typical "pub-grub", burgers and sandwiches, fries and chicken, salads and desserts... good but not great.

I have recommended Big River to friends who don't share my love of the pint and they too liked it... Enjoy:thumbsup2

A beer and a burger are okay. Not the best food in the area by any means, but if you stick with basic food, it's okay. The meatloaf has deteriorated from it's past levels of greatness. Stay away......

Try to get a table outside if you want to people-watch along the Boardwalk, or if you don't care for the smell of the fermentation process. It was kind of funky smelling inside, most of the times we have been in the past.

Let me tell you. I *love* this place. I've heard a couple of negative reviews here and there, but we go here everytime we go.

If I'm feeling just pubby or fast-foody, I have their Big brew Burger. Which is just plainly a great bacon cheesburger. Really good. My wife loves the meatloaf there.

But last time, I had the chicken fettucini alfredo, which was delicious and my wife had the special which was a louisiana steak and let me tell you, I was craving it just recently. My father had the NY strip. Said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had ( and we had dinner at Le Cellier too! ).

And of course... the beer... glorious handmade ales.

Is this a pure sit down restaurant? Or is there a bar inside that you can grab a quick brew (or five) while you're browsing the Boardwalk?

I don't recall if they have an actual bar or not.
As for the place itself--Robert P said it all.

we ate there this past tuesday. i had the cheese soup (served stone cold) and a salad. had the soup been hot it would have been good. the salad was nothing special. dh had a burger and loved it however.

If you like beer its a must but if you dont it pretty ordinary, they have a great beer flight I go there every trip.daveb
