Anyone had any experience dining at the Big River Grille at the Boardwalk. I tried the search function and could not get it to work.

Any help will be appreciated. :)

We've eaten there before but just for a late lunch. It's good but nothing special. The beer is fine, the food is pretty standard. Burgers, ribs, sandwiches, some specials, etc. I wouldn't make a "special" trip but it worked well for us.

Well I for one really enjoy this location.
The food is "pub grub" but in my opinion, it's GOOD pub grub. ( My wife loves the meatloaf here, and I love the bacon double cheeseburger. It beats the "standard" burgers you'll find in most places on property imho ).

Also, the handcrafted beer is very good. The only beer I've found that's better anywhere on property is the Spaten Doppelbock at Biergarten.

Finally, if you go in the evening and it's warm out, there's nothing quite like sitting right on the boardwalk and dining in the warm florida breeze overlooking the lake. Seeing the lights from the Yatch and Beach club reflecting on the water. *sigh* ... I'll be there soon! In a month!

Just returned, and we had the pleasure of dining there. I had very low expectations based on the reviews I've seen. It certainly exceeded those expectations. I wouldn't go there expecting to be wowed, but it was tasty and the setting (on the Boardwalk) was quite nice.

Thanks to everyone. I have one TS meal left and this sounded like a easy place to get into.

Just ate there Saturday night for the first time. I thought it was okay. I had the halibut and it was very very dry. Not good at all. The mashed potatoes that came with it tasted funny, I didn't even eat them. DH had the ribs and he thought they were good. Not the best, but definitely good. Kids both had mac and cheese, it was goopy and reminded me of the "rubber boots and cheese" that we used to get for lunch at school as kids. Neither of them ate more than 1 - 2 fork fulls.

Now for the pluses. I thought the beer selection was good (and we're from Milwaukee, we know our beer). I especially enjoyed the red ale, DH liked the brown ale. Also, the desserts were both very good. Only two to choose from, but since we're on the DDP we had one of each (a chocolate concoction and a cheesecake). Seriously, the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life. And the chocolate thing was almost as good. So we had great beer and great dessert, the stuff in between was only okay.

The atmosphere inside (it was raining, so no outside seating that night) was very nice, good pub atmosphere but friendly enough for the kids. Also, our server was really great even though she said it was her first night. She messed up a bit on the dining plan, but we all got through it okay (and really, who could blame her, it's just been SO confusing at every restaurant we've been to so far).

So I say it's a good place to catch a burger or other pub food, but I wouldn't expect fine cuisine.
