I can't seem to find any recent reviews or other posts in regard to Big River Griile. Has anyone eaten there recently? Would love to hear more about it! :upsidedow

We were thinking of going to Big River Grille & Brewing Works but when we called the CM told us that they were not on the dining plan and we would have to call them direct. Maybe that's why you don't hear much about that restaurant. We liked their menu but I guess we'll have to stay with Spoodles.

You were told that it's not on the DP? According to allears.net and other sites it is listed as being on the DP. :confused3 We also have an ADR at Spoodles yet the more I think about it, the more I want to go somewhere else. The appetizers look great but the entrees? "ehh." Really want Boma but they are booked solid!

We went during free dining last year and ate at Big River, it was soooo great and soooo much fun. I called just the other day and asked about Big River and was told it was "definately" on the DDP, but they do not take ADRs. I do remember this from last year b/c we called down from our room and they said the same that they did not accept ADRs. But, we loved it, actually it was one of the highlights of our stay at BWV. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info, PrejeanPrincess! Did you happen to also eat at Spoodles while staying at BWV? Would love to hear about it as well!

No, we didn't try Spoodles. We had an ADR for it one night but it was later than we wanted to eat so we cancelled and try something else. Looking back at the trip I was really glad we tried Big River instead of Spoodles, jmho.

BRG is a good bet for a beer and a burger. The food beyond that isn't great. Service ranges from barely adequate to downright nonchalant. The inside is quite plain and drab, with the distinct brewery smell. Better tables are outside on the Boardwalk--if you can take the heat and insects.

I go to Big River at least once on every trip (usually for lunch). The food is pretty good for what it is (e.g., pub grub and not high end gourmet food) and the beers are very good. I enjoy the decor inside, although the smell can be a bit much at times. Service has always been pretty good. Sitting outside is wonderful, as BW is kind of quiet during the day, so eating outside there is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

We ate there in Aug. and the whole experience (other than the beer) was terrible. We had a really bad waiter, a lovley seat right outside of the bathrooms, and a swarm of gnats above the table. The food was so-so and really not worth it. As mentioned earlier, the beer was outstanding. I say pop into the bar for a cold one before your dinner someplace else.

We go there everytime. Since we usually go with my DVC-member mother, we stay at the BCV and IF at the BCV, we even often go twice. ( sometimes to eat. sometimes just for an evening out to have a couple of pints on the deck of the boardwalk ). but the most recent time, it was just my wife and I staying at the ASMo and we made a special exit from Epcot via the International Gateway to go eat here. That was last October.

That being said, we love the food. The hand crafted beer is quite good (And I'm a beer snob). If it's nice out, there's nothing like eating outside overlooking the boardwalk and the lake at night! It IS family friendly, and we have no problem bringing our kids with us.

We love it! :thumbsup2

Edit: I will add that the food is indeed, as mentioned, Pub grub. We really like that, but indeed, it isn't fine dining or anything.

Big River darn well does take reservations (they just aren't in the AR system because they are not run by Disney, so Disney dining CMs always get this wrong, telling people you can't reserve a seating there).

To get a reservation for a seating at Big River, call them directly at 407-560-0253. They take reservations as far in advance as you'd like (when I called earlier this year to make one for February 2008, the staff member there told me she had one in their books someone had asked for for a date in July, 2010!!!)

We ate lunch there on our annual Spring Break trip, April 4 - 11, 2007 and loved it! For me the one thing a restaurant needs is good beer:drinking1 and this is it!!!
The tap beers are varied and very flavorful. I tried the beer flight, 7 (6) oz. glasses of beer arranged from lightest to darkest. Although all were good, the IPA (India Pale Ale) was outstanding! Hands down the best I've ever had (and that's saying something)
As stated before, the food is regular pub grub, good but not great. Try the burgers and chips, we found them tasty and cooked the way we like.
As far as DDP, they took ours without so much as a peep:confused3 . Our waitress was courteous and polite, but a little over worked, so the service was a bit slow:sad1: .

Go, enjoy and have a pint of IPA for me!!! :thumbsup2

I agree with this assessment of Big River, except for the insects. We ate inside and had problems with insects.

There are SO many better places to eat in the Epcot resort area. Big River is not a Disney restaurant in any way, except for their prices.

Have to agree with Uncleromulus' comments as well.

Many other dining options nearby, unless you are just absolutely set on a good beer and/or a simple burger. Hopefully, neither of those will suffer the same fate as the once beloved meatloaf....
