Has anybody eaten here lately? If so what did you have? Would you recommend this restaurant? Thanks.

I went in September and it was the worst dinner entree I've ever had at a TS restaurant at WDW.

I had a daily special which was a Surf and Turf consisting of steak tips, grilled shimp, garlic mashed and asparagus. Tips were raw (ordered M/R), shimp tasted fine but was cool, same for the potatoes, and the asparagus was limp (i.e. overcooked).

I've heard that if you go BRG, stick with the burgers and pub type food, but since I was using a TS credit on the DDP I wanted to go for something better. Bad choice I guess, or maybe they just were having an off day.

A note though if you do decide to go here. Sign up for the online BRG email club. They will send you a coupon for a free appetizer. Don't sign up farther than 30 days from the day you plan to eat there because the email they send with the coupon does expire. Also, if you are celebrating your BD at WDW, they will send you a coupon for a free entree (doesn't have to used on your BD, just within a month).

We used the free appetizer for the chicken quesadilla, which was excellent. That's why I think you need to stick to the pub like food here. The beer sampler was excellent too.

I'm not sure I'd use a TS credit to eat here, but maybe would pay OOP for lunch and beer. :drinking1: Also, Spoodles is a much better choice in this area IMO.

Thanks for your response. I was actually trying to decide between BRG and Spoodles. BRG looked like it had a bigger variety but now I may just go with Spoodles. What do you like to order at Spoodles?

We enjoy being able to sit outside, have dinner, and Boardwalk people watch at BRG.

However, I recommend Spoodles over BRG.

Love their Beer Cheese soup. And I don't like alcohol, esp beer. :upsidedow
We have had nothing but good service and food. People we have taken there all enjoyed it too.

We were really surprised how good the food was. I had to post and let you know. We had the jalapeno/spinach dip and it was so good. The entrees enjoyed were the bbq chicken sandwich, ribs, meatloaf and I had hazelnut crusted chicken. It was my 2nd favorite meal of the trip (top honors to Tutto). I plan on returning in June to get the chicken again. It was that good!

DH really likes the mahi mahi sandwich.
Can't sat I have ever had anything bad there.
Although I can say the same for Spoodles.
One thing I like about BRG is not having to make an ADR. :cool1:

At Spoodles I ordered another "special" which was lobster ravioli that was delicious. My DW had the Lemon Shrimp Pasta (regular menu item) which I thought was a bit too lemoney but was nice. We started with a great Green Lipped Mussels appetizer (yum again) and we had a pitcher of Sangria which was great. I don't remember what she had for dessert, but I had a lemon pound cake that was definately in the top three best desserts I've had at WDW. Thinking about this meal at Spoodles, and how much I remember about it, reinforces how good it actually was. I almost forgot to mention the server was great too.

We plan on eating at Spoodles again in August when we stay at the Beach Club. We have no such plans for BRG, but who knows. We may give it a go for a OOP lunch or an evening micro brew (signing my DW wife up this time on the email club for the free appetizer):) .

And just pointing out the all PP's have pretty much noted what I said to begin with. With the exception of the "Hazelnut Crusted Chicken", everyone's favorites (at least those items which are named) seem to be sandwiches, ribs, meatloaf, or appetizers. Typical pub food. I'm not knocking that (because I love meatloaf and ribs - and wished I ordered that my last visit instead of my horrible entree :lmao: ), just that's what it appears that BRG does well.

One other point that I forgot to mention was we did enjoy being able to sit outside on the BW. That is a great feature there.

Stay Away. I totally agree with Colinsdad....we just came back from a week at Disney, and this was our only bad experience. They were out of the Red Ale. Warm overpriced pedestrian beer. We specifically and pointedly requested rare steaks; all three (small) were sent back woefully overcooked. Meager vegetable portions, no bread, baked potato's were cold in center. Tiny table, crowded. Worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time. Would never go back. I usually love brewpubs....this one was just a continuous disappointment. Be warned.

We went to the Big River Grill March 19. Our advice?

We've only done pub grub and beer here. The beer is good ------- what else is there? :drinking1

We ate there last sept.. Walked up w/ no ressies.. It was great for burgers.. and great grey goose martinis & sitting outside on the boardwalk.. But ran out of grey goose that nite so no seconds..

I go there for lunch on every trip to WDW and have always had good experiences with the food, the beer and the service. I actually kind of like the fact that many people post on here about how bad BRG is - it prevents the place from being overrun so I can always get a table when I want to go.

Ate there once... agree with the others..... stick to the burgers.

We went in December and had a great meal. I ordered the ribs and the beer sampler. I was surprised how good the ribs were -- usually I don't even bother ordering ribs most places because I just end up being disappointed. Not sure why I decided to disobey myself, but I'm glad I did!

And the beer sampler is always a good deal in my book... $6 to try 5 or so different beers.
