Big River Grille and Brewing Works - Opinions

For those of you who have eaten here, what did you think of it? I am thinking of going here for a late lunch. I havent spent much time on the Boardwalk but thought it would be fun to eat and walk around a bit. Spoodles looks good to me too, but they only have the pizza wondow open for lunch. Does the dinner start around 5 at spoodles?

DH and I usually eat here the first night of our trip. The food is pretty good. It's nothing spectacular (spelling?) or fancy, but we like it. DH is a beer drinker so this is one our main reasons for going. The flame grilled meat loaf is good. A lot of the items on the menu make you think of a TGIFridays or a Ruby Tuesdays, but a little bit better. I think DH may have gotten a beer sampler there too (we haven't been since 2003), but I can't remeber for sure. The boardwalk is nice to walk around and look in the different shops. Also, you can walk to Fantasia Gardens Minerature Golf from here. I know it's not a short walk, but not too bad either. Have a great trip.

Late lunch is the perfect time to visit Big River. Hubby and I have always had very good food there from the appetizers to the burgers and pasta. The beers are quite good (another reason we stop there). Nice atmosphere, moderate pricing. Nice bartenders. We visit a few times per year at least.
You can sit inside or out, if it is a nice day, have drinks outside and people watch. Very relaxing.

Spoodles will open for dinner around 5:30 I believe.

Big River is a must do each time we go to WDW. The food is pretty good, service is good and the beers are great. Enjoy!

We like BRG, have done it once in the evening, once for lunch. Both times very nice meal and good service.

Relaxing on the Boardwalk on a sunny afternoon - sounds perfect to me!

how far of a walk - my 11 year old loves mini golf???

Fantasia Gardens mini-golf is right next to the Dolphin resort...I would say no more than a 20 minute walk at a normal pace/stroll. You can either take the brdge from the Boardwalk to the Swan side and then over to FMG, or walk along the lake side of the Dolphin and to FMG from there. If you really did not want to walk it, you could catch a friendship boat that is ging from the Y/C and ride until it makes the S/D stop, but I do not think that would save you any time. We like the walk....so pretty.

Can you sit outside and eat lunch too, or is it only for drinks? Thanks for responding everyone1 I think we might give it a try.

Hi there. Big River is a must for us, we've had late lunch and dinner..My husband loves the beers. You can order food while sitting outside. Its really nice to watch the entertainers..If I remember there is a Piano 'Bike' that rides along the boardwalk. I agree on the food description, its like a TGIFs only a bit better. Upscale Pub Food if that is even a category? LOL

Sorry I don't really remember how long the walk was it was, we did it back in 11/2003. I will say that FINFAN's description sounds like the walk we took to get there. We kind of knew it was close and took the bridge to the Swan and asked someone at the front desk for directions from there.

It really is not that far. You could take a cab, I guess, but it really isn't that far to walk. It's also a nice walk.

Looks like I am the only one to vote NO! for Big River. My DS and I had lunch there last June. Big River is not a Disney restaurant in any form except for their prices. The inside needs a good cleaning and upgrading. The food was OK but there are so many better options in the Epcot resort area. They only have single doors to the outside so flies easily get in and make it very annoying while you are trying to eat.

OK for a beer and burger--but not much else. That meatloaf used to be quite good (made with Italian Sausage in it), but last meal there it was dry and tasteless. Service issues as well--I had to wait quite awhile for a second beer--a MAJOR faux pas in a Brew Pub like BRG.
And I agree-the place does look a bit "drab", if not unclean. If you do go, a better spot is out on the Boardwalk at an outside table. And at least out there, the flies can get at you w/o having to make it inside

I'm amazed at the number of positive reviews for BRG in this thread. It doesn't jive with my experience and I know when this question has come up in the past there have been a lot of "blah" reviews. Has something changed recently?

I hated to. ESPN might be a better choice.
