Big River Grill

Haven't heard much about this- What are your experiences? Thinking of 6 adults on our first night there.

We LOVE Big River Grille!! We eat lunch there every trip. It's a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the parks, and also a good non-Disney change of pace (I love Mickey, but every now and then I need a break from the Disney overload!).

We don't drink alcohol, but have never felt we were in a pub. We like to eat outside overlooking the lake and Epcot resorts. Service has always been great, too.

We ate there in Feb. Wonderful beer. Inside was VERY disappointing. The decor was more like a hallway in tomorrowland than a Microbrewrey. We were seated right near the entrance so my DH was sticking out into traffic and the wind from the door. We moved the table some. Food was fine, not terrific, but fine. We'd eat there again, but only at a table outside.

We liked it. Decent food, good beer. Pretty sure they don't take ADR's.

We love the Big River Grille! It's fun to sit outside and watch the crowds walk by! The Boardwalk is a great way to spend an evening -- watching the street performers, playing games & winning stuffed animals (my DH loves "Lob-A-Lobster), visiting the Wyland Gallery, etc, etc.

I think it's 'eh.' It's a basic chain restaurant with basic American fare. The inside is smelly if you get there when they are fermenting beer, and there isn't much to look at.

If you can score an outside table on the Boardwalk, I bet the experience is much better.

No huge complaints about the food or service, just nothing to write home about. We'll eat there in a bind but won't go out of our way when there are unique Disney spots there instead.

Our experience with Big River Grille was pretty average. The beer was great, the dinner was nothing special, but not bad. If you can eat outside I say go for it just for the people watching. It's nice to sit outside and watch all the activities of the Boardwalk. Inside is pretty loud. If your looking for a better meal on the Boardwalk I might suggest Spoodles or Flying Fish. We were on the DDP when we went there, and they did take ADR. I do remember one reservation we had to call the restaurant directly, so maybe that was the place.

Thanks for all your replies. I didn't realize it was a chain restaurant. Maybe we will wander by and see if something outside is available. I appreciate your comments.

Yes, I think if you can get an outdoor table the experience may be much better. Dh thought the beer flight was good, but neither of us was impressed with the food or the indoor 'atmosphere'
On the night we went it, for a microbrewery, it was far less appealing than a jam packed Columbia Harbour House.
I will say our server, Carol from NH, was excellent, efficient, knowledgeable & very friendly.

The inside is loud when there are a lot of people & convention goers there. If there are not many people, it is a definetely more enjoyable. The room in the bar area is smaller and you can view the beer kettles. Try to sit outside if the weather is nice also-you have a beautiful view of the Boardwalk & Yacht & Beach Clubs.

The food is like the food at a Applebees of Chilis. The restaurant & brewery is run by the parent company Gordon Biersch. We went for lunch and had burgers and quesadillas and everything was tasty. My dad tried the pale and I had a draft root beer. It was a nice casual meal and the service was good.

The dinner menu offers more entrees as well.

Well I *love* this place.

True it's mostly "pub grub". But they do have good steaks and pasta as well. ( my wife loves the meatloaf there too ). Their hand crafted beers are quite good and if it's nice out, you can get a table right outside on the boardwalk which is an added bonus.
