When are you going?

Right now, the only premium pet loop that is open is the 500 loop.

The 800 loop, which will also be a premium pet loop should be open in the next few days. It sounds like the 400 loop will be next, and will be closed for about a month or so for the expansion work.

Both of those loops will easily accommodate your rig. The 500 loop is closer to the dog park, if that is important to you. The 800 loop is closer to the Meadows Trading Post, and has access to a really nice dog walk area. The 500 loop does not have a dog walk area. The concrete pads on both of these loops have been significantly expanded, so no real difference in the sites.

We will be there 12/15 - 12/21, this year. Originally I thought I would request loop 300, but then I saw some posts that the 300 loop wasn't big rig friendly.

i've seen 40+footers in 300 but if you end up back further in the loop, it could be pretty tight. if you get something closer to the front, especially on the right side, it's not too bad. i've seen MHs go through 300 and think to myself, omg, there is no way they're getting that thing in here but somehow they do!

We were in loop 1700 on Wed 10-22 and moved to loop 1900 the next day. Both of those were pet loops. (Either that or nearly every camper had an illegal dog!) There was a family with a big rig trying to set up camp in 1900 on Saturday. They had a very hard time, but were eventually successful. The site we were on (1921) was just before the loop, so you could back a big rig in a little more easily, I think. It's also very close to a comfort station and a short walk to the bus stop. What it lacked in privacy, it made up in convenience!

We have a 40' MH and we've stayed in 300 multiple times. It's really tight backing in. It's going to be a preferred pet. We have 500 this year which is premium pet. I understand they are wider and longer--designed for the big rigs.

300 is a very tight loop to navigate. A lot of the sites are big enough for a 40' rig, but the street itself is narrow, quite a few people park their tow vehicles too close to the street (or encroaching on the street), the back side of the loop has a wicked, tight curve that you have to take slow and easy if you have anything bigger than a 36' MH. 5'er's are a nightmare to get into a site on this loop.

That being said, the sites themselves on 300 are beautiful. Lots of trees, and quite a few back up to a large canal.

We stayed in the 500 loop a couple of weeks ago. We have a 40 foot fifth wheel with 3 slides and I tow it with a Freightliner. I had no problem getting around in the loop and had plenty of space at our site. The trailer was back in and the truck unhooked and it fit perfectly. The pad was wide enough for the trailer with slides and concrete under the awning as well. While we were there several Prevosts came and went in our loop as well.

Have Fun!

Thanks to everyone for their information. Sounds like the 500 loop would be a good one for us. I have a "preferred" site reserved. Is the 500 loop a preferred/pet loop?

Sorry, but the 500 loop is now a premium (not preferred) pet loop. So is the 800 loop. I think that right now (and this changes frequently), the preferred pet loops are 300, 1700 and 1900.

We are going next April and I too was thinking about the 300 loop. We have never camped at the Fort before and I have absolutley no idea which loop to request..we will be bringing our Golden with us. Just from looking at a map, I thought the 300 loop looked most convienent...am I missing something?

300 loop is great! you're not too far from anything, really. funny thing is, it seems like a "golden" loop too. when we were there in august for 2 weeks, we had 6 goldens in the loop, including mine! if yours is like mine, he'll LOVE the dog park which is right next door!
