Big Red Boat

Yes, that's the same place! It is still very nice and we enjoyed swimming in the lagoon this past September.

We sailed on the big red boat in 1995. I affectionately called it the big red TUB. We booked a "suite" which was a tiny stateroom with a curtain. The bed was lumpy. My boys had fun though. The kids club started with two year olds and my son was two years and one day old when we boarded. The few times we brought him and his older brother (4) to the club they demanded to see his birth certificate! The boys loved the characters (bugs bunny, tweetie). I think Disney had already ended its association. We had the best waiter on that cruise and my older son who was 4 and is now 14 still remembers the magic tricks. I remember taking a tender to paradise island and the seas were so rough we almost capsized. I was almost screaming with fear. It was no frills, thats for sure. We even paid to have bugs bunny "tuck" the kids in with a bedtime story. They loved it. Memories!

BRB veterans here also. Were on a cruise one month before they left all their pasengers in the Bahamas!!! Such a shame. The service was wonderful, and I ate till I couldn't anymore!!! We got awesome price back then, but little did we know that within a month they would confiscate the boat. Talking about having trip insurance!!! :earboy2:

Went in 1990 (I think), stayed at the Dolphin for 3 days and then did the 4 day cruise. Second night in Nassau one of the laundry rooms caught on fire. The alarms went off, we grabbed our life vests and spent part of the evening on deck around the pool. We were compensated with free wine for dinner the next evening. I don't remember what deck we were on but it was the same deck that the characters changed into costume. We saw a lot of the characters. Still have the picture of my daughter and all the characters together. They had a big table where you could come and get autographs all at one time. I do remember that the food was good and our servers were great. Have been on the Magic twice and am doing the West Coast version in June. :cool1:

Our first cruise was on the Oceanic back in 1989, we did the 4 night cruise and 3 day disney vacation. It was a great ship and I have some wonderful pictures of the awesome food at the midnight buffet. Huge butter and Ice sculptures. That ship hooked us on cruising. Fond memories.

Thanks for the link,,,looking at the postcards reminded me we were on the Oceanic,,,and from the pictures you can see a small pool on the aft deck - this was the Kids Club area,,,,the kids would go to the clubs and swim there.....very nice.

We did the Big Red Boat for our honeymoon in 1994 right before the Disney characters left. The private island was beautiful and the food was fabulous. Lots of midnight buffets and it was cheap. We also stayed at the CBR for the second half of the trip. AAAAAAAAHHH Memories.
