Hey all. This is my first post. My wife and I are wanting to take a trip soon to Disney Florida (without our 5, 3 & 2 year olds).

However, I'm a pretty big guy and didn't know if any of the rides are for avg size people only. I know this sounds like a rediculous question, but it's important to me. If a lot of answers are similar to "i don't believe you'll have very many rides that you can go on" won't discourage me to go, but I'll kinda know how to plan instead of standing in lines, only to find out that I can't participate in the ride.

Thanks for the info in advance.

My family and I are pretty big folks, and we've never had trouble fitting on to any rides. as a matter of fact, my mom and dad are at wdw right now, and my mom told me she rode Expedition Everest, so if she can fit, I know I can! I'm still trying to drop some pounds before we go, but WDW has always been "big friendly"...I think allears.net has an article about plus size disney goers. good luck!

First of all - WELCOME!

Second, it is not a dumb question at all - my husband and I are both large and have no problems (he's 6'1" and the legroom is sometimes a little tight, though). I have seen people who must be over 300 lbs. with not too much trouble (just a bit of a tight squeeze). I don't know how big of a guy you are, but I doubt you will have any problems. Have fun!

thank you for the kind remarks. I'm about 350 (50 waist) and my wife is 245 (size 24). Are the odds against us at this point?

Welcome to the DIS,miTunes75.

Check this link here, plus all the links that are on that page, LOTS of great info.

BTW, I am 6' 6", really have little or no problems. The odds are in your favor. :thumbsup2 You'll be just fine on probably 95% of what you want to do.

i think you will be fine on most of the rides the only ride that may cause some problems may be the teacups but other than that you should be fine.

Your wife should be fine. I'm 230lbs (size 20) and had no problems fitting into any of the rides that I wanted during my trip. I was on the teacups, EE, ToT, SM, BTMRR, Cinderella's Carousel, Mission:Space, Soarin' and more. Admittedly, leg room might be more of an issue if you're tall, but you both should have no problems on the rides.

Some of the rides (like EE) have a test seat so you can check that you'll be comfortable on the ride.

Have a wonderful trip!

Your dw's stats are pretty close to mine....with me being a bit bigger - I fit on all the rides - even Aladdin's carpet ride which I was worried about since it's more of a kiddie ride.

DH is 6'1" and 300 lbs at the time and he fit in everything - even space mountain.

You'll be fine!

ENJOY!

What about Dumbo? I've looked at AllEars, but can't really tell if I will be able to fit in comfortably. I'm 5'11 and around 210. Thanks. :)

I always skip dumbo. But you do not sound, as if you are such a big person at all. I think you will be fine, on dumbo!

OP, I and my husband are fluffy. I am 6' and around 250. I wear a size 20, or 22, so your wife. Will be just fine on everything. My husband. Is 6'1" and around 320. You will have no problems at all. So, no more, fear. Just happiness, to know you both. Will be at WDW, enjoying the magic. Yippeee!!:goodvibes

Op, I spent years as a morbidly obese person. Last check before gastric bypass was 320, though I was probably larger than this at one point. I have NEVER and may I repeat, NEVER had trouble fitting on a Disney ride. . .only Space Mountain ever gave me trouble because I could not put both legs inside the seat guard. I am 5'5" tall so hopefully that will help you. I have been an AP holder at DLC for over 20 years.

my brother is your size - he doesn't like Big Thunder Mountain - the seat is a little small and he can't fit.

tea cups will be tight sneeze getting in - but you can do it!

Dumbo is designed for 2 people - so you will be fine.

you are going to WDW without your kids.....:cloud9:

do you think you will live once they find out?pirate:

I went to DW last fall. I am over 300 lb, and in a wheelchair. I chose not to go on some of the rides that I knew would make me uncomfortable, but found almost nothing that I couldn't go on. The Mouse does it beautifully for us. Go, and have as much fun as I did!

I'm around your wife's size and didn't have a single problem. There are a couple of tight turnstyles, but you can find a way around those.

how do you get around the turnstyles? I would love to know as I have wide hips and they can be a real pain!!

My DH and I are about your sizes, and we haven't ever had any problems... That's one of the great thing about Disney World. They try to be accessible to almost anyone. We went to Cedar Lakes in OH last summer and I couldn't get on hardly any rides... How disappointing and embarrassing. I have never had this experience at DW.

I just asked my DH if he has ever had a problem fitting on any ride and he said Astro Orbiter. So some of the more "carnival-like" rides might give you a problem, but that's about 5% of the rides at DW. I am about the same size as your wife and had no problem on the dinosaur ride in AK that is like Dumbo, but I have never been on Dumbo.

Have a great time!! :tinker:

Hi - I'm 5'6 and 320lbs - and I didn't have a lick of trouble on anything...
My girlfreind at 5'9 and better then 320lbs only had trouble on one or two things (and that was because of height) and those things she still fit on - she was just a little cramped.

I had the same fears when I went to Disney the first time too - but it turned out to be no trouble at all - Disney is the most Pooh sized freindly place on earth - I guess that's just somehow appropriate huh?

Oh yeah and 99% of the rides that you will want to ride on with your spouse, the girlfreind and I managed to ride side by side with both of us being large women... so no worries for the most part about getting a car of your own and not being able to share.
