Big oops...we downgraded resorts but kept full DDP!

A rare Disney 'oops'...we booked Free Dining at a moderate resort and decided to switch to a value resort 2 days into our stay. They let us keep the full DDP and didn't charge us for the difference between the QS plan and regular DDP, which saved us about $200. I questioned two CMs but they just said it was 'pixie dust'. I feel kind of bad but I am not going to beg them to charge me more. Crazy, right?

We were just 'not feeling' the mod and thought we would enjoy Pop just as much while saving some money, and we were right!

Once you've checked in the resort has control of your reservation. The resorts themselves have no access to dining plans for add/delete/change. All DDP changes have to be done at least 72 hours prior to your arrival through WDTC and they operate separately from the resorts.

Since resort downgrades are not all that common Disney has not put in a way to also downgrade or change any dining plans after check in. Your resort did not want to mess with it since there's no easy way for them to do so. You got a little pixie dust!

I'm curious too, which mod didn't you like? Was wondering, cause I'd pic a mod over value any day for many reasons, I enjoy the beautiful landscaping of the mods, double sinks, and some of the extras they offer. Esp the POR resorts.

We were at POFQ. It's a wonderful resort, we have stayed there many times...But I like Pop's 'fun' feel and thought it would be nice to get a little refund. It's a good feeling to have $500 back, esp. Since I was laid off for 8 weeks (got a job right before we left for this trip...more pixie dust)!
