BIG NEWS the DIS is getting new SERVERS!! WOOHOO!!!

I got the go ahead from Pete and today I signed the papers for a NEW server for the boards! This will replace our web server and should speed things up CONSIDERABLY!
GEEK WARNING!!!!!!!!! Do not read past this point if you can't handle extreme geekiness

Old Server- Dual Xeon 3.06 533 FSB with 3 gigs of ram and 2 18 gig SCSI drives (no raid)

New Server- 2 Dual Core 5160 Intel 3.0 Xeon's with a 1333 FSB, 4 Gigs of Ram and 2 36 SAS drives (raid 1) running 64 Bit Red Hat Linux ES

I'm thinking that's enough extra horsepower to make a bit of a difference!

I have no idea what those server stats meant, but I know dual-core is the latest processor so YAY DIS!

Since we're counting # of cores, then DIS actually has a quad-core.

Not a true quad-core, but nevertheless a significant upgrade, and the extra memory and the raid helps too.
