How come I'm the only one that shared a picture?
I would share but also have kids that would never let me live it down. Besides your big hair looks way better than mine ever did! 
Temporary Insanity!
I understand completely. However, my daughter would die of embarassment if she ever knew I posted my pic online. She would NEVER do it herself, because she's much more embarassed by it than I am.
I see nothing wrong with your hair. I think it's beautiful.
Sometimes I wish I still had it. But it took me 2 hours every day to do that...hot rollers and a curling iron both... 
. Not only was it big, it was about 3 differnet colors of blond/brown (thank you, Sun-In...remember that awful stuff?).
I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and in the 80's, I wore it long, like to the middle of my back. I used to dry it upside down, then curl it with a curling iron. Then I'd spray it with Aqua Net (or Aqua Nest, as we affectionately called it). I then flipped it upside down again, and then back up. I used to push the sides up as I dried them too, to make sort of a "hump" on the sides of my head. 
But after awhile I realized I hated most of my classmates and couldn't care less what everyone else was doing (since they weren't going to be my friends anyways) so I proudly wore my boring long flat hair.
Revenge is sweet! 
I was actually socially ostracized because I didn't have big hair. In high school in the 80's, I wore my non-colored mousy brown hair straight, long, and flat. I was made fun of because I didn't have big hair. A couple of acquaintances even told me that they didn't want to be seen with me since I was so not with the current fashion trends.
I remember I didn't understand big hair, I didn't know how you made big hair, and I felt left out of the loop since everyone else knew and I didn't.
Fast fowards 20+ years, and our senior photos are on our alumni website for the world to see. I am the only girl who looks anywhere nears normal!!
Oh yeah, and I am from Jersey!
After all, my Senior picture and my Mom's senior picture in 1962 isn't too different. 
Do any of you remember the butane curling irons that you could carry in your purse? My "bff" had one, and we would actually plan to sign out to the bathroom at a certain time to touch up our hair and re-spray it.
