I've been a bottle blond for many years now, and I'm finally going back to light brown. Just bought the stuff today. I'm really nervous.

Anyone "go back" after many years of something different? :)

I just did last month!! On my 27th birthday actually. I have had blond highlights since High School, almost 10 years now and I decided that for a change, I'd go darker and back to my original brown. I was so nervous because I had gotten so used to the lighter color and blonde highlights and really liked them. I just wanted something different. It's been a little over a month and I'm just about due to do it again. I really like it . Different and I've gotten tons of compliments on it. My boyfriend loves it!

It's scary I know, but you can always go back if you really hate it...but, I bet you won't!

Thanks - I have a feeling I'll like it too - but I'm sure I'll be a wreck while it's "cooking" on my head. :earboy2:

I change my hair color all time. I just went back to my natural color, dark brown after years of coloring it. I started when I was 18 and it's been all sorts of shades of blonde, red & light brown. The blonde really killed my hair though so I cut it shorter and went back to the dark brown so I don't have to use the permenent stuff anymore.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'm really hoping to get used to it enough that I can stop coloring and coloring and coloring... I'm just tired of the whole process, although I do love the feeling of freshly colored hair. ;)

I started coloring mine brown (my natural color) when I got a lot of gray, about 8 years ago. Then I changed to a reddish color, and kept that for many years. Just recently switched to dark blonde, it was quite a change, DH likes it, I'm toying with just going gray and forgettabout this color thing every 6 weeks or so.... but I really don't like gray :rotfl:

I don't really know what my DW's natural hair color is :confused3 ...

As for me, I've never changed the color, but did shock my family when I came home one day with a shaved head. That was a couple of years ago, and I still rarely let it get longer than a week's worth of growth.

Just thought I'd add a male perspective!

I can relate! Well, in so much as a woman can relate to a man. ;)

DH went from LONG hair to almost NO hair overnight. He always said if he ever cut his hair, it was going to be a buzzcut - and he wasn't kidding! From hairband rocker to Army Lieutenant, in a matter of minutes. :rotfl:

I have naturally dark blonde hair but in my late 20's I was a platinum blonde for 3 years until I got pregnant with my son. My doctor "recommended" that I stop using hair dye because he felt there was some potential risk involved. It was really hard for me to watch the dark hair growing in! Even though my natural hair is not dark, it looked very dark next to that white blonde! (think Marilyn Monroe's color) Then to further the trauma, after about 7 months of that two-tone hair I got a huge haircut -- from hair to my waist to hair above my chin and close to my head! I thought I would just drop dead I was so vain and upset! lol But I had to get rid of that two-tone color at any price.

Ever since that fateful day I have had various lengths of long hair. I just don't look right with short hair. Now my hair stays naturally dark blonde. This Florida sun has lightened it a bit and age is creeping up on me so I want to enjoy my real color for as long as I can before having to dye any gray.

I know how you feel --- I was blonde for so long - and then I thought I would start going darker just gradually, a little at a time so it wouldn't be so much of a shock and eventually I just got sick of waiting and said JUST DO IT and get it over with ....

I sat there with it "cooking" ;) on my head and just about bolted. I thought at first it was WAY too dark and that I might have to grab a bottle of Loreal - but I resisted and now really love it.

People are always commenting on how blue my eyes look now with dark hair.

I think you will be glad you did it.

Ever since I went back to dark brown I've been told the same thing.

Yup. Been a brunette, been a redhead. A few mishaps ago my hair was topaz, but I remedied that one quick. These days I stick to my natural hair (dark blonde) with lighter blonde highlights.

My hair stylist finally convinced me that as you get older, you definately don't go darker.

I did the change. I have been blonde my whole life and I had it colored brown, darker than my natural color. I love it. SORRY THE PICTURES ARE SO DUMB LOOKING. LOL.

AFTER (here is me with my brother who looks drunk, I look it too!)

I just thought that a pic would help. Hope all goes well! It took me forever to post this with the pics. You should post before and afters too!!!

I went from medium brown to bright copper red and my the BF did not even notice. Since then, I've decided that I'm the only one who cares. Everyone else does not.

Many years ago I went back to brown hair after being a blonde for years and years.

I hated it! Everytime I looked in the mirror it was a complete shock!

My suggestion is to go darker gradually.

That's what I've been working on. I don't want to be a brunette, nothing that drastic! But I've toned my blonde hair way down, it's more ash blonde now, and from what I've been hearing from other people, it looks very natural with my complexion.

My natural color is medium brown- I decided to go red a few years ago. I started out a dark auburn, but each time I went back to have the roots touched up, I kept getting more and more bright red. Within a year, I had bright neon orange-red hair.

I thought it was great, but my version of the Emperor's New Clothes was when DH's grandmother saw my bright red hair and told me, "Usually, I don't like when women have obviously dyed hair- but on you, it looks nice!" . Well, I went out the next week and had it dyed back to my natural color.

I've always been "blond" and get highlights often, but a few years back I went brown, and to be honest, it wasn't all that flattering on me.

I just had my hair done last week and I did go a few shades of darker blond, but I won't go brown anymore. I like being a blond.

I know what you mean! I went darker with mine and it brought out the blue. People didn't notice my hair right off it was more of a "are you wearing coloured contacts?" ;) :rotfl:
