Hello-
I have finally persuaded my fiancé to go to WDW for our January ’07 Honeymoon but he has a few doubts. He is a big guy tall and broad with a little bit of a gut (think of a 6” 4’ pooh bear) he is concerned that he won’t fit in any rides. The last time I went to WDW was 8 years ago and I was 15 so I can’t remember what all the safety belts are like. I know that many rides have no seat belts at all. Can anyone help me out with a run down of some of the more popular rides? I have tried to look through previous threads and haven’t found any specifics or if you know of a website can you send me a link?
Thanks So Much!!!!

As a fellow "big buy"(6' 2" 240lbs.) I think he'll be o.k. I went in October and didn't have any problems. The only "tight" ride was Space Mountain because there isn't a whole lot of leg room.

My dh is 6'4" also, but not really 'pooh-sized'. He has no problem fitting, lengthwise anyway, in anything. Space Mt. is tight but he still fits. As far as the 'tummy' thing goes, I've seen some people that go above and beyond 'pooh-sized' fit in most of the attractions. Have a terrific time...oh, and congratulations!!!

I would worry too much at WDW. At my largest I was 6' 4" 375 lbs and didn't have any problems at WDW that kept me from riding any rides. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm has additional first hand information on large people fitting on rides.

dh is 6'3" and almost 300lbs and has never complained about fitting in a ride yet... the only ride he has not tried is mission:space (but it has nothing to do with fitting LOL)... ergo i would say your dh2b should be fine...

My DH is 6' and 280lbs. He has not had any problems with any rides at Disney. The only thing that was really squishy was the Teacups, but that's because we both have really long legs, not a weight issue. There are some rides at Universal that he didn't fit on, though

Have a great trip, and congratulations!

Jen

My ds is 6'3" and has never had any trouble fitting on rides. In some rides, his legs are a bit cramped but not uncomfortably so.

My Dh is 6'3" pooh bear (he would kill me if I gave the lbs.) and he has absolutely no trouble on any of the rides :thumbsup2

He's not be to happy if I announced his weight either! :ssst: :rolleyes1 so... we just call him " the big dog" and move on! :lmao:

some rides there are seats you can sit in outside to make sure of fit rnr, ee and i'm sure there are some i am not remembering

I am 6'3" and 260 lb. My gut is bigger than it oughta be, but seems like I'm one of those fellas that's big all over. Anyhow, my only problems on rides are:

1) Splash Mountain - My knees are always cramped as I ride

2) Astro Orbiter - I always feel like I'm gonna fall out of that thing; not sure if that's size-related or not

If there is anything else, it is not coming to mind right now. I do great with rides like Space Mountain, BTMRR, RnRCC, teacups, etc.

I'm 6'5" and an "athletic" 290 pounds. No problem on Disney rides here, HOWEVER, my knees get pretty banged up on most airlines!!!

As a six four 385lb sized guy , the only ride i ever had any problem with was the teacups, every thing else fit fine. Space mountain was a bit cramped because of my height but otherwise ok

 I'm 6'3", and the only two rides I had a problem with were the Tea Cups, and Dinosaur. My knees take quite a pounding on Dinosaur, but I still wouldn't miss it.

My brother is around 240 and is 6-2. We only remember him having problems with Space Mountain and tea cups. It was the leg room issue.

I think that Everest might be iffy. It's not that roomy.

There has been much discussion about larger-sized adults "fitting" into Expedition Everest seats.

Back in late January of this year, EE previewed to the public for the first time (limited to AP holders and DVC guests).

At that time, the lap-bar restraints had only "one click" to lock into position, and that one position was very low and VERY SNUG into the lap.

Many Pooh-sizers had trouble getting the bar to lock into position and some had to try to lock the bar first, then attempt to "slither" down into the seat with that bar pressing hard into their mid-sections.

I was THERE at that time (late Jan. '06), rode EE several times, and personally witnessed how the lap-bars worked and how the guests had to maneuver themselves to fit in the cars.

Since that preview there have been lots of questions as to whether Disney had made further adjustments to the restraint system.
But nobody seemed to be able to say FOR SURE that there had actually been any physical changes made.

WELL, GOOD NEWS:

I just returned on May 24, 2006 from 8 days at WDW and can say without question that:

YES, they DID change the restraint system!
There are now MANY lock-position "clicks" on that lap-bar and it can be considered LOCKED at a much "wider and roomier" position than the first timers experienced.

So, EE is now VERY FRIENDLY to Pooh-sized guests... even quite large and tall.

I wanted everyone to know that from someone who experienced the "before" and "after" of the EE restraints.

This means EE joins the other attractions at WDW that are accommodating to adults of virtually any size!

(Except I wouldn't want to try to fit more than ONE big guy at a time in one of those darn TEACUPS!) :goodvibes

Robo is right on the money regarding EE. We just returned, and hubby (6'2" and 300 lbs and me 5'9" and size 24 fit just fine. Someone quite a bit larger would still have room to fit. It was a blast!!!

My DH is 6'5'' and is kind of pooh sized (he would kill me if he knew I was writing this!) and has been tight length wise on a few rides (space mountain) but not so tight that he wouldn't go on. Because he always goes back. But on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad he was tight width wise once and since has never gone back...He wants to avoid embarrassment of not fitting at all and having to walk off the ride. So I think you should be fine on most rides. Congratulations and Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, but that does not compute.
BTM cars are very accommodating.

The cars are designed to hold two riders, side-by-side.
But if a person is VERY large, s/he can choose to sit alone in that seat.
The lap-bars will click-lock at a very loose position.

I don't know what his issuse was at BTM, but it should not be "fitting" in those cars.

And, as the rest of this thread discusses (unlike so many OTHER lesser non-Disney parks), WDW rides are most-accommodating to large guests.

The Teacups are small (who cares?) and Space Mountain requires long-legged guests to bend their knees up a bit, but, in general... no problems. :thumbsup2
