Big eaters

Consider the Trails Inn Buffet at FW. It is claimed to be the best bargain in WDW. They have buffet for all three meals and all under 20.00.

Actually, go to Beaches and Cream and get almost anything! I have 2 college-aged boys (they have huge appetites), and they were both stuffed after Beaches and Cream. One son didn't even finish his No Way Jose Sundae for dessert-that's never happened that he's been too full to finish dessert, so now, 2 months later, he's still getting teased about it.
Oh, and I just remembered-My other son had a hot dog at ESPN Club that he said was HUGE and he couldn't finish it.

Maidmarion -
I just wanted to distinquish a couple of things I read earlier on this thread. Whispering Canyon is in the Wilderness Lodge and Trails End is at Fort Wilderness. I wanted to make sure you didn't get the two different locations confused.

Also the Cape May Clambake is a dinner buffet at the Beach Club and has no characters. The breakfast buffet does have characters.

Good luck on your quest. There are lots of great places to eat, eat and eat some more!

wdw_dine_junkie is right. I apologize for giving out wrong information about Cape May. The character's are only at the breakfast.

Hi MaidMarion,

We had Character Breakfast at Donald's Breakfastosaurus in the AK recently, and I thought it was great. They have a big buffet that includes an omlette bar, pancakes, meats, etc., and a side buffet with doughnuts, cereal, fruit, etc. We saw Mickey there, too-- not sure if he's there everyday or not. We got great pictures at that breakfast-- Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, etc., were all very attentive.

Have fun!

Hi MaidMarion!! Welcome to the DIS! :)

If you like the amount of food you can eat at a buffet, without all the work of actually fixing your own plates ;) then try the all-you-can-eat family style restaurants. The Garden grill at Epcot, Liberty Tree Tavern at MK (one of my favs), and 'Ohana at the Poly all offer their meal in this manner. It is all you can eat, but is brought to your table in serving dishes, and then you eat what you want from the serving dishes and tell the server what you want more of.

At the Garden Grill you will be able to see Mickey, Chip and Dale and be served rotisserie chicken, fish, steak, potatoes, vegetables, salad and dessert priced at $21.99 pp.

At LTT you can see Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, and Meeko (Goofy, Chip and Dale used to be there, but have recently moved to the new show at the Diamond Horseshoe) and dinner includes ham, turkey, flank steak, vegetables, salads and more priced at $20.99 pp.

'Ohana is not a character meal. Dinner there includes Stir Fried Vegetables, Salad with Honey Lime Dressing, Shrimp & Vegetable, Wontons, Honey Coriander Chicken Wings, Vegetarian, Stir Fried Rice, Skewers Prepared over oak fire: Grilled Tiger Shrimp , Marinated Sirloin Steak, Mesquite Seasoned, Turkey Breast, Barbecue Pork Loin for a price of $23.99 pp.

If you are looking for filling meals at a more budget minded price, you should definitely make use of the AK "meal plus" deal (if they are still running it when you go). With this you get an entree plus a drink of your choice at Restaurantsaurus, Pizzafari, Flame Tree, or Tusker House, plus you also get a voucher for a box of popcorn or an ice cream as well as a voucher for another bottled drink all for $11. You can get the most for your money and appetite if you go to Flame Tree or Tusker house!!

Other places where you can get larger portions for a good deal include:

Counter Service:
Cantina de San Angel (Epcot)
Sunshine Season Food Fair (Epcot)
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (MK) - esp. the "Family Meal"
El Pirata y el Perico (MK)

Sit Down:
Beaches and Cream (Beach Club)
Wispering Canyon (WL)
Trail's End (Fort Wilderness) - buffet

Thanks everyone so much. I am sorry about the Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge mixup. Newbie mistake!

The AK lunch deal sounds really good. I appreciate having some counter-service/less expensive places to choose from as well.

I asked a woman I ran into about this and she wrote down two places for me: Spoodles (she said the breakfast here was good and had characters) and Gulliver's. Any thoughts?

Regardless of her suggestions, I have plenty to choose from what was recommended right here. Thanks for your help and warm welcome everyone!:D

Spoodles does not have character meals. Breakfast no longer is a buffet, although there is a (very good) all you care to eat breakfast choice from the menu. I think it's called the Breakfast Platter and costs about $11 (a bargain).

Gulliver's is at the Swan. There is character dining some evenings at least, and an all you care to eat buffet as well. I don't know if you get both on the same night and the menu might be out of date on Deb Wills site since it is a couple of years old.
