We are going to Disney on 4-11 (first night) and I currently have a DP Advanced Reservation at the WCC planned for DH, DW, DD (14) and DD (16). We are a somewhat reserved family, but I thought WCC sounded fun and thought the girls would like the things happening around WCC..

Well after reading the posts on WCC and the bad times people are having (had), I am questioning whether we should forego WCC and just do Boma as we are staying at AK anyway.

As for Boma I am worried about the fact that we are **not** an adventuresome family when it comes to trying different foods...

We also are doing: LeCellier, Hollywood/Vine, Ohano, Hoop-Dee-Do-Review ....

Thoughts on past experiences.....

I definitely prefer Boma to WCC. Don't be worried about Boma - there are plenty of standard american-style food (prime rib, mac and cheese, pasta).

I would keep the reservation for WCC. I think you'll have fun. We had a wonderful time there. We are also very reserved people and not adventurous eaters. I would eat there again.

We had 4 adults in the party when we ate at Boma, and none of us liked the meal. I guess there might be some things to choose from, but I'd rather have a menu of things to choose from than thinking "well there's some choices there for me too". The desserts were good. And while I would eat there again, it would ONLY if someone REALLY wanted to eat there.

If you want an excellent meal, very different from the ones on your menu, might I suggest the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's our favorite along with Le Cellier and Artist Point (which would be another great choice for you) The atmosphere is very Victorian, the service excellent and the food wonderful. The chocolate Fondue for dessert is awesome.

You have..
Le Cellier-steak
H&V-buffet
Ohana's-family style meat
Hoop de doo-chicken, corn potatoes

The Grand Floridian Cafe or Artist Point would add one of those kind of basic food places, but prepared in an attractive "cheffy" fashion.

I love both restaurants but I would also go with Boma..

Don't be put off by the thought of "different" food. Last time we were there they had prime rib, roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs etc. They also had several soups one being a potato soup which was great.

There are SOOO many options and YES some are unique but the GREAT thing about doing this buffet is that you can take a tiny bit of something different and try it and if you don't like it - you're not stuck with it - you can just push your plate aside and go up for more prime rib!

Nothing here is unappetizing for americans - no weird meats or anything like that - it's mostly familiar ingredients in combinations that are unusual for us. For example my fav was a beet, watercress, red onion salad in a yogurt dressing - it was AMAZING!!!

DEFINITELY try Boma!!!

Boma has better food, is more convenient to your resort and you don't seem that interested in the "entertainment" at WCC.

I'd go with Boma, for sure.

Our dinner at WCC was the highlight of our trip. I don't even remember what we ate, but I can tell you I have never laughed so hard in my life. Our waiter, BJ, was awesome. The kids loved it. On our trip we also ate at a few of the "nicer" restaurants-Flying Fish, La Cellier & Cal Grill. We preferred WCC to any of them.

WCC is exactly what you would expect from Disney World.

Boma for sure!!!

I have yet to get one of those great servers at WCC after many years of going there. Food is just okay IMO.

Agreed - it was a nice atmosphere, but our experience was not as fun as some other people have had (based on their descriptions here).

Our family had to make the same choice and chose Boma! We were very happy with our decision. :thumbsup2 I see you are staying AKL...I bet you will have a hard time resisting the wonderful aromas coming from Boma when you walk through the main lobby. Soooo yummmmm.

BOMA..hands down. Plenty of variety for everyone.

We took our 1st family Disney trip in November. I made ADR's for WCC for our first night too. However....we had to get up at like 3:30am to catch a plane. And by the time we took our flights, finally got into our hotel and found the restaurant after getting lost...we were late for our time and had to wait even longer.

Needless to say....everyone was really tired and we were placed in the 'in-between' room. It was on the edge of the main dining room. Our waitress was perfectly nice..but wasn't like the other 'fun' wait staff that we saw. I was so bummed out at the kids reaction as I was so excited to have them experience this! (We were at dinner on a Friday night.)

I wish I made it for a different night. Of course that was just our experience..bad timing. I would definitely try it again.

We did Boma at a later night and I have some picky kids too..but we found something for everyone too. I think the desserts were my favorite there. Definitely not as crazy as an atmosphere.

I think because you are staying there and it's your first night that would be best choice.

Enjoy your trip :-))

Another vote for Boma. We really like the food there, but found WCC to be just so-so. Enjoy!
