Big crowds???????

I just looked on the Disney website for the park hours of our trip. Disney has extended the MK hours by an hour and MGM hours by 30 min. Does that mean they are expecting big crowds at that time? Just wondering.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked my days and saw . Mk gained an hour on sunday night during Columbus weekend. It was a 9 pm closing with an evening emh, now it's a 10 pm closing with an evening emh. Looks like DS gained a half hour on Friday of Columbus day weekend. Would those be the days you're talking about?

If so, I was there last year during that time and believe they have data that says expect crowds. . Same thing happened last year. Don't be surprised if MK adds a surprise morning Emh for that Saturday of Columbus day weekend in addition.

Cannot_Wait_4Disney: Yes, we are getting into the "World" on the Saturday before Columbus Day. Were the crowds unbearable (Summer/Holiday type crowds) or just a lot of people milling around? I think I am prepared for wall to wall people and waiting for everything. That way if it isn't that way, I will be so happy!

I figure with MK being open till midnight Sat. and late EMH on Sunday, we should be able to see everything in MK during those two days. What do you think?

We are going in 14 days too!! I'm planning on doing MK that Sunday in the a.m., in hopes that more people go for the extended evening hour and pm emh. I hope my logic will be right!

I would like to know, too, if crowds will be horrendous on Columbus Day--we're looking at Epcot for that day!

Oh no!!!! Crowds!!!! I figured it would be crowded over the Columbus weekend but do you expect that the crowds will be lower after Monday. We will be there for 2 weeks but my DGD is coming down for the week following Columbus Day so I'm hoping the crowds won't be too bad during her portion of the trip.

Any thoughts on how the crowds will be on Tuesday after Columbus Day???

I've asked the question about Columbus Day, and the consensus is that it will be more crowded than normal, but not horrendous. I have some friends who went this time last year, and she said that it was very manageable. Locals will add to the crowds due to the F&W Festival in Epcot.

whogirl'smom: The UG recommends Epcot on that Monday. That is where we are going. I figure it is the biggest park, and it can spread out the crowds better than any other.

rapriebe: I also heard from my friends that the crowds were definitely smaller, from Tuesday on, during Columbus Day week.

Hope everyone has a great trip! If I can get me a LGMHPC (local HD has been out ), maybe you will be able to spot me.

Yay! We're leaving in 14 days too!
I'm excited that they added some longer hours... I did notice that Fantasmic is now pushed back until 8 on the later MGM nights (all except Tues). Thankfully they didn't move Spectromagic-- we plan to see it and then scoot out for a late ADR!
I noticed in Dec, Epcot (WS) is open until 9:30 (with IL then). I assume that is because of CP. I wonder why they don't keep it open later for F&W?
