Big Change at Princess Storybook Dining

Darn they went the way of CRT. I don't like photo packages with my meal for a large increase in cost (and possible an increase in TS credits). Boo!!!!

Thanks for sharing!

they offered us the picture package when we were there early January. When we first went in DD had her picture taken with Belle - very rushed, photog. was very rude, then we were ushered to our table. They came around a little later with the picture package and wanted to know if we wanted to buy it for $35. The picture was horrible and we said no.

We were there last month for breakfast and dd's pictures came out BEAUTIFULLY! I guess it depends on the photographer.

We have ADRs for Akershus for lunch in July. It is a birthday trip for dd so I'm excited to hear that we will get the package! :thumbsup2

Yes, I definitely think it depends on the photographer. I noticed in all of the parks during our trip, some of them were very nice and took their time and some weren't so nice and very rushed.

That was my first thought...since CRT is 2 credits...I wonder if they are going to change Akershus to a "signature dining" experience as well???

I would have thought they would make it 2 credits. Which is a bit poor, as you buy the dining plan for the food, not to have to use the credits for photos! The breakfast at Akershus was good, but not 2 credits good. I'd rather decline the photo and keep my credit if that's the plan. Obviously I'm jumping ahead here as they haven't made the switch yet. Though I do wonder if Disney would dare change it from a 1 credit to 2 credit meal in the middle of the 2008 package year, can't see it going down very well. Can they change the DDP mid-season? I'm assuming there is some sort of get out clause in the DDP literature.

It makes you wonder how long it will be before they do this to all the character meals.

I agree that breakfast is NOT a 2 credit meal. I would definitely rethink this meal if on the regular DDP...and maybe even on the Deluxe as well!

If you look at the list of signature restaurants... they are all "high end" or at least a step above the rest.... with the exception of CRT, but that has the location that everyone wants.

Norway has neither the level of food/service (although it wasn't bad by any means) nor the location. I can't see how they could justify upping it to 2 credits. That doesn't mean they won't though!

We had almost this exact same experience (photog was horrid!) last Saturday at our lunch.

We went a couple of years ago at breakfast for DD's 3rd birthday. IMO, the food was mediocre at best (and I'm not a foodie person) and the princess interaction was ok, but overall, we came away feeling the experience was overpriced. Now, that was just one experience, and I'm sure we're in the minority. But, adding the photo package doesn't make me want to come back any sooner!

I notice that the new package info lists that a credit card is required to secure the reservation. I made my reservation for May a few months ago when a credit card was not required. We are using the dining plan for it. So...what happens? Do I have to call and give my credit card number? Will they change it to a 2 credit restaurant?

I am soooo mad about this right now! :headache: They are nickel and diming everyone to death! First they change to whole ddp plan(which we will not be on) then they add some ridiculus surcharge for "holiday pricing" ok I get the xmas, easter but ALL of JUNE come on! NOW to top it off they are uping the price again for a stupid photo package which may or may not be good or someone may or maynot even want! I am about to blow my top... They are making it less and less afordable for families to come.:confused3 . I think Walt would be turning over in his grave if he knew what they are doing to his "dream"
Ok breath now  sorry for the long winded vent... I just am soo disappointed .. I guess if you are on the ddp and they don't change the credits it is a nice perk... but what about the rest of us that aren't:guilty:

I made our ADR's for our June trip on Jan 27th. I was not told about the photo package but was quoted that the breakfast was a 1 table service credit meal and I was not asked for a credit card to hold the reservation. We will be at the breakfast at 10am on June 3. It would be nice to have the photo package included in our 1 credit meal, especially since my niece will have just come from BBB in the castle.

I booked this in Dec for our June trip and they DID take my CC for a "hold" ... seems once again the CM make the rules as they go along.. and I was never told of any "holiday" price either

Does that mean the picture package is included in your meal price, or is it going to be extra like at CM?

I made our breakfast ADRs for our July trip on Jan. 21 and I WAS required to leave a CC#.

All I have to say is, if they try and change it to 2 credits during the middle of the 2008 year, they will have hell to pay from me! The reason we chose this meal over CRT was the 1 vs 2 credits, and we have already made our ressies and everything. Believe me, I will be one of those nightmare customers if they try and deduct 2, because I booked while it was only 1 credit.

I just read about this, and I am TICKED! We go there for the Norwegian food, and NOT the Princesses. :headache: They are a nice little bonus for DS, but to be honest, he really isn't "into" them at all. He smiles when they come around (if he's awake), we take some pics, and that's it. We wouldn't go there for the Princesses alone. The pictures they take are usually awful, btw. We've been there every trip since 2005 (4 trips) and the picture has always been bad. Good thing we really don't care about the Princesses, because honestly I'd have had a very hard time buying one of those photos even if I had a child who LOVED them. DFIL bought the group photo of us with Belle at Akershus, earlier this month. The picture was really crappy, but I didn't want to hurt FIL's feelings by asking him why he bought such an ugly picture. I know it has sentimental value to him because all of us were there together...but yikes! Totally unacceptable as a "professional" picture, IMO. The pics I took with my point-and-shoot digital were WAY better! :confused3

If they make it 2 credits, we will be LIVID!
