Big Brother’ in Big Drug Trouble

Charlestown roofer Matt McDonald, a former contestant on the CBS reality show “Big Brother,” was indicted in federal court in Boston yesterday in connection with a drug ring - allegedly run by his former “Big Brother” housemate.

McDonald, 26, who is already facing charges that he beat his 7-months-pregnant girlfriend and then threatened her and her family, was indicted for conspiracy to distribute Oxycodone.

McDonald was in cahoots with fellow Season 9 contestant Adam Jasinski, who is separately accused of using his $500,000 winnings from the show to buy thousands of Oxycodone pills and resell them.

McDonald and Jasinski were allies on the “Big Brother” show during Season 9, which ran from February 2008 through April 2008. The indictment charges that the drug conspiracy began in April 2008 and continued until October 2009

Jasinski, of Delray Beach, Fla., was arrested in October in a strip mall in North Reading after he showed a government witness a sock containing two plastic bags filled with the powerful painkiller.

Todd Prough, a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration said Jasinski told him he used his “Big Brother” winnings to buy thousands of Oxycodone pills and was reselling them along the East Coast.

As for McDonald, the drug indictment was his third run-in with the law this month. He was arrested April 18 after his pregnant girlfriend went to police to report that he had beaten her in a jealous rage the night before.

According to Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, the victim reported that McDonald became upset over text messages she had received and accused her of cheating on him.

“He allegedly choked her and punched her and said, ‘I hope your baby dies,’ ” Wark said.

McDonald was charged with assault and battery and aggravated assault and battery. He was rearrested in Winthrop last week after he allegedly threatened the victim and her family in an attempt to get her to drop the charges.

According to McDonald’s “Big Brother” bio, he felt he would be a fierce competitor on the CBS reality show because he is the “biggest liar/sweet talker you will ever meet.”

There was also this rather interesting nugget: “He keeps most of his exes around for ‘booty calls,’ except his most recent ex, who hooks up or flirts with guys to make him angry.”

McDonald is looking at 20 years in jail and a $1 million fine if he’s convicted on the federal charges and another 17 or so on the A&Bs.
