Big Brother 8 *Spoiler* Thread

I have to hope that those who defend Dick have not seen the feeds, because anyone who would defend him after seeing his behavior... :confused3

He has followed Jen from room to room all week. If she's sitting at the kitchen island, he walks up to her and asks her why she's here. If she's on the treadmill he comes in and asks why she doesn't just quit, since everybody hates her. She has no peace and no rest from his abuse, and while the outside is a no smoking area, it's no coincidence that HE came out and sat next to HER and blew his smoke at her (and bragged about it afterward).

He has essentially chased her around the Big Brother property for weeks, and that night she stood up to him. It was a stupid way to lose her temper, but compared to the violent verbal abuse she has put up with, doesn't even register on my radar as anything but pathetic.

The man has a criminal record as someone not afraid to beat a woman up. Eric folded to his abuse. Amber folded to his abuse. Jameka didn't exactly fold but stupidly agreed to a truce -- she'll probably see the result of that dumb move any time now. Jen wouldn't give in to his abuse and he wouldn't drop it until she was gone.

MSNBC has done a piece on what is being shown on the live feeds vs. the sanitized version put out by CBS.

I completely agree! And for the other post above, I hope Jen is taking legal action. She should not have had to put up with what she did, and the more I see this year on Showtime, etc, I've come to realize how fixed this game is.

Thank you very much for the link to the very interesting article. I can't believe he walked around using the C word.

He's used it daily -- on every woman there except his daughter. At one point Daniele told him to knock it off (not because it was wrong, but because it might hurt HER in the long run) -- so he stopped doing it in front of her. As soon as she'd walk in the room, he'd stop. But start up again when she left.

It's hard to put some of his threats into Dis friendly language, but he spoke lovingly of raping both Jen and Dustin in their nether regions until they bled. Charming fellow, huh?

Eric's not much better, but he's more of an "on the bandwagon" abuser than somebody who initiates it himself. Now that he thinks it's what the cool kids do, he's going overboard -- he described how cool it would be to dump slop on Jen the moment Julie announced she was going home, etc.

I don't see how any of them can sue! They sign contracts. CBS has been doing this for a long time. They know better. And the last part of that quote about getting her in and exict ED out seems like a hoax. I could be wrong, though.

It's because in the rules it clearly states that no one will be allowed to be abusive, or be made to feel threatened. CBS obviously didn't care about this, but instead thought that Dick's tirades were helping the ratings. When Jen was being assaulted, both verbally and physically, CBS did nothing about it. They also let Dick bring medication into the house, and they let Daniele onto the show despite the fact that she wasn't yet 21. Then, as soon as Jen did something wrong, which in no way threatened the other house guests, CBS reprimanded her right away. It's a misrepresentation of her character, and they put Jen in danger. Abuse is abuse, whether it's on TV or in real life.

Dick's insane. Literally insane, and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Both Dick and Daniele are worthless in the game, and just as bad in real life. Daniele's whining about Nick is funny considering the fact that she has a boyfriend at home, and she stole him out of an engagement. Dick has a criminal record for abusing women. Last season the worst that was done was when Chill Town created their "showmances". Sure it was mean to the girls, specifically Erika, but it was still pretty funny and made for good TV. A 45-year old man with a criminal record assaulting a 23-year old girl, though, isn't good TV. CBS is going to lose a lot of viewership, and a lot of respect, for allowing this type of behavior.

The other day people were posting about her alluding to having more knowledge about the game and her being "selected". Maybe this game truly is fixed and BB made her some promises they didn't keep.

I totally agree!

Apparently not one of you have been the brunt of domestic assult.......I have!:sad2: I was hoping that when Jenn was trying to get a punch in on him, that he belted her one! she deserved it!

gotta love this comment, you of all ppl should know no one DESERVES to be hit, considering you say you have been the brunt of domestic assult yourself.
Unreal

Like PP said ....just drop it or the thread will get closed. I have seen threads get closed for a lot less. Just stick to your own opinions on the BB show and don't comment on each others comments or the thread will just disappear.

Thank you for posting that link. The T/Th/Su show doesn't even begin to show his abusive behavior.

I hope Jen does sue CBS and wins.

Call me naive but I didn't know that CBS was manipulating things behinds the scenes until this year.

Was Jen on the morning show this morning?

I agree that it's hard to put his threats into DIS friendly language. The things he has said are so vile that they can not be repeated on a family friendly board.

Danille is the apple off the tree too. When they were nominated, she was talking about how funny it would be if Dick would pee on people while they were in the shower. But Dick said he didn't want to be known as the guy who peed on people on Big Brother. So for Dick, threatening rape is A-ok, but peeing on someone is taking it too far

I don't know if this is an accurate account of his arrest history, but this is what is on the internet:

Unfortunately, they have been manipulating behind the scenes from probably season 1. It was a couple of years ago that I heard that they actually pick some people to be on the show and not everyone applies.

Yes, she was on the show this morning. She didn't say a whole lot. If she's left the house, they didn't mention it this morning.

That happens on all the reality TV shows, Survivor, Amazing race, they all cast with scouts in addition to people who apply. I think it was last season on Survivor only 1-2 were people cast filled out an application and sent in a tape, the rest were recruited.

I'm not surprised. They need interesting people to keep us entertained, right! As long as they are real people an not actors.

I agree with both of you. I'm glad she's taking legal action.

So - doesn't BB have to abide by "Game Show" rules? If they're doing so much manipulating, doesn't get that get them in trouble?

Yeah - that Dick is such an upstanding guy. How would he like to have a man twice his daughter's age use the kind of language on her that he's used on Jen?

Last night's show made Jen out to look like a real loon. But I've been reading some of the live feeds and a little bit of the late night Showtime stuff and they are slanting it that way. They just don't show Dick in the true light that he projects on the feeds. Like I've said before - he's a vile excuse for a human being!

folks.....please take the arguments to PM or use the ignore feature. We don't want this thread to get locked.

I know that BB yelled at Dick this morning but no one has mentioned a penalty. I highly doubt they would take him out of the POV for a little paint.

The statement the PP made was not one that needs to be ignored. It's truly inexcuseable and sad and I hope she gets help.

AND if the thread gets locked, start another one. Life goes on.

I've avoided this thread because I don't like knowing spoilers, ;) but had to come on after last night's show. Wow.

Couple thoughts..

First, although I think she's a little whacky, I feel sorry for Jen. Yes, she's young and immature and still finding herself, but no one deserves abuse and she's gotten it from several people.

Second, I used to think that Dick was just a bully but he is downright abusive. I just watched the BB After Dark that showed that fight between them. He's truly awful - I had to turn it off. Before I came onto the DIS, I had just asked DH why someone couldn't sue him/BB8 for that abuse? In my private life I don't choose to be around someone like that and these people are stuck with him. How is this fair/legal/ethical/ok? Because they signed a contract? :sad2:

Oh and regarding this snippet from the article, BB doesn't have me fooled....all I needed was 30 seconds of his behavior to see how disgraceful of a person he is.

While “Big Brother 8” has shown several of Dick’s tirades, it has, in recent weeks, set him up as a sort of hero, ignoring his yelling and swearing and focusing instead on his successful alliance with his formerly estranged daughter and others (including Jen) to defeat a group that wanted to get him out of the house.

Anyway, very interesting article. That, in addition to them allowing the abuse, leaves me with a very sour taste for BB. Makes me sad as I think it's a very interesting concept (and I'm hopelessly addicted). :sad2:

Dick didn't write on the walls with paint. It was on the sliding glass door with the water color paint they used to paint on Eric. That was said last night while watching the feeds. He stated he got yelled at. Nothing was or has been mentioned about a penalty. The statement about "the guy who peed on BB" was about people peeing in the shower. They asked ED if he did and he said no way I don't want to be know as the guy who peed. So I don't know what the other statement was about but I never heard it or read that anywhere. I am also not on the feeds 24/7. Personally I think they(Jen and ED) are very immature for their ages. They BOTH follow eachother and antogonize the other. Neither of them are in the right here. I actually felt bad for Jen because it seemed she really did feel betrayed by Dani. Yes her actions were border line crazy, I just think her snapping out was long over due. She was angry with Dani and Dani wasn't there so she took it out on ED. She started this last incident and it should've never happened. He should've went straight to the DR and stayed there till things settled down and not stooped to her level. Then again you are dealing with immaturity from both if not all the HG this season! As for Jen taking legal action, that IMO is crazy. Let it go, move on. She didn't make a big deal about ED's actions to BB while in the house and called a truce with him. It all started again when she was back doored. She's a sore looser and couldn't take it.

I would really like to see any of us in a house locked up with wacky strangers, not eating, competing etc, etc, for a long period of time. Can any of us say we wouldn't crack up a little? Maybe do some immature things, make comments that would be out of our normal character. I think it is a very stressful situation. Easy for us to just sit here in judgement.
