I have heard it is the offical announcement of the Contemorary Resort DVC, among other things....

I'd be willing to bet it's more tha one announcement. I'll tune in to GMA like everyone else and see. What time is the announcement planned for?

This sounds like the family who was chosen to have the Magic Kingdom to themselves will be there that day. I believe that is when it was supposed to happen. I've been standing by my phone for the last month hoping they would have called me, but it never happened.

If I remember correctly, the family will get to visit each land before the rest of the public follows behind them. The family will get to enjoy each land by themselves and when they are finished with a land the rest of the public will get to enter that area.

I read through all of the prizes for YOMD, and this was never mentioned anywhere. The grand prizes are three DVC memberships, (also a bunch of trips a night in the castle and some other events, etc.). Though I DID read the above rumor on allears.net before Disney had announced the details of YOMD. I was wondering if that was an idea they scrapped.
I thought there would have been a little more on Oct. 1 as it was teh kickoff for YOMD, but I havn't seen/heard anything out of the ordinary.
Maybe they have the apt. in the castle finished early?!?

I have to agree with safetymom. Sometimes I think we (Disers) forget how "ahead" we are compared to the general public. I may be wrong....and hope so!! Not much longer to wait!

It wasn't a rumor, it was a separate contest. I entered it in August! I never heard the winner announced, but I know people on the Dis were hoping it would be someone here.

If I remember correctly, the contest rules indicated that you had to be available to be in WDW from October 1 - 4, 2006.

That's right! It was totally separate from the prizes listed for the YOAMD. It's kind of a special prize to start off the YOAMD.

When they first announced this promotion, we could enter online for this prize. Its now obviously over and a family was picked and is down there now.

Oh how exciting.

Possibly; however, rumors are now swirling that the next DVC to be built will be at the AKL. There is word that model rooms of the AKL DVC have been built inside the preview center of SSR. Of course this is still rumor until there is an official announcement.

Actually, DVC building models at AKL is a little more than a rumor... there is a "Notice of Commencement" filed by DVC with the Orange County Comptrollers office indicating that 3 units at AKL will be redone as models. Now, what type of models is the question...

It was for the Keys to the Magic Kingdom promotion. I'll also be there tomorrow am at 5am, heading to bed in a few as we are leaving here at 2:30am to get there and to main street on time. TIVO'ing GMA. =o)

That's going to be one tired family! I mean, can you imagine being there early in the morning for the rides, being in the afternoon parade, and having a special showing of Wishes?!? Talk about WDW commando style. Not that I wouldn't love every minute of it, but I foresee unhappy, tired, cranky children in this family tomorrow!

I heard they are only making some room's DVC at the AKL! That they are not building more buildings just changing and making some of the rooms DVC!
Is this true? I hope not!

what is going on is that the very first family to ever visit MK is returning for a visit (that's all i know of right now) and that there will be a special to air later on cause they're taping it

Well... I just heard the big announcement on the local news. It seems that many theories are correct. One family will have the Magic Kingdom all to themselves today - no lines or anything. I am unsure of the details because there was only a very short segment on the issue.

ETA: To be honest, I wouldn't want the Magic Kingdom to myself. Apart of the fun is celebrating it with other families, but that is just me.
