What you need is a new approach to buffets. The tendency is to serve yourself normal size portions in the beginning and rapidly run out of plate room
don't instead make that first visit the 'sampler' plate - just grab a small portion, no matter how tempting those first few offerings are, resist and just do a small sample of everything. Try them all then return w/ your second plate for your 'entree' larger portions of your favorites.
Or, if your hands are big enough, use my son's method and fill 2 plates the first time through
