Biergarten?

The food is good, the atmosphere is fun, the beer is BIG (the way it should be). Be warned that you will in all likely hood be seated with another party or two. This has never been an issue for us, however, depending on who you sit with can make or break your dining experience. On our last visit, my girlfriend and I were sat with a couple who was a little older than us, and a family of 4. We had a blast with the older couple, drinking, laughing, talking, having a good time, while the family of 4 didn't say a word to us or eachother the whole meal. If we sat with only that family there is no way our meal would have been as enjoyable as it was. This is not to scare you from going to Biergarten, it happens to be one of our favs., it is just a little heads up.

Enjoy and have fan!

We love the Biergarten! It's a must-do for us every trip! It's so much fun, my 2 daughters (7 and 5) love it too. There's child-friendly options such as mac and cheese.

What times are the shows? Our ADR is for 6:30 p.m.

DH and I had a 6:20 pm ADR last week. We were sat right at the end of one show and the show began again, after about a 20-30 minute break. I'm guessing it is a continuous show with breaks in between? We left before the "2nd round" of entertainment was finished.

BTW - great food! I was a little afraid of the different sausages, but they were really good! And I loved all of the salads, and desserts were delicious!

We love Biergarten. Just the other day I asked DD for her favourite Epcot restaurant, and this won hands down.

You will be seated with other people, which is fine, because in the spirit of an authentic biergarten you'd be with other folks too. There is some German beer, but only a limited selection as I recall.

Food is buffet style and offers plenty for carnivores and vegetarians alike. The salads are great, the sausage yummy. Desserts are good too.

The band is fun, and lots of families get out on the dance floor. Beware, the chicken dance rears its ugly head!

My husband and I loved it!! We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere...I was uncertain about sitting with others we didn't know, but it was a lot of fun!! And our server was fantastic!!

My mother is at Disney this week with a bunch of girlfriends. She actually called me last night after they ate there. She said it was great and she was so glad they picked that one. So, based on my mom's advice....I say do it. :thumbsup2

We tried it for the first time in November. We all loved it. Kids included. There was enough variety they found plenty they enjoyed. And we all really enjoyed the show as well. One of my DDs asked the men for their autograph afterwards - was too cute.

It is on our list to do again this year.

We went for the first time back in Nov 09. We had an open night and this was only place with seating during the time we were ready

It was great. Solid selection, great enterainment (my DH was the burgermesiter, and got to tap the keg). Dancing with the kids and super memories.

Yes, this is one of our favorite restaurants too because there is such a great variety of food. This year, we took our German foreign exchange student, and this was the highlight of her trip. She realized how much she misses German food. She thought the music was a lot of fun too.

We're going for the first time in December, in part for the preferred seating at the processional, but we the bigger part is we've heard nothing but good things and if the PP's exchange student got homesick eating there, that seals it. We spent a week in Germany and never had such good food. Can't wait!!

While we really looked forward to Biergarten---we didn't like it. The oompah band was cute but the food was blech when we went. Maybe it was an off day but we're not picky eaters and it just wasn't good. The atmosphere was pretty cool though.

We were at the Biergarten in 2008 for my 50th birthday. We walked up and were seated immediately for lunch. Through my mistake I thought they served fish at lunch "no, only at dinner" I told the nice server behind the buffet that I didn't eat meat, but that I could eat alot of the other things so it was fine.
We were seated with two other parties, one from England, and one from New York. We had such a great time getting to know each other. Half way through dinner, the server from behind the buffet showed up with a smoked fish sample platter large enough to feed the entire table! I think it was for the dinner buffet. He stayed and talked to us for about 15 mins (glad to get out of the kitchen?)
I wish I had asked his name.
I am going in June 10 and will definitely have dinner here.

Does anyone remember how much they charge for a beer there? I looked on the menu, but other than the price of the buffet, no other prices are listed.

We're going there in June!! I heard good things about this place...there's three families going with a total of 14 - kids ranging from 17 to 2...so hopefully they will find some food they like. Not too worried though. I think we will all sit together if not it's fun to meet new people.

I ran across a post from 2008 that stated the following:

Small beer = $7.50

BIG beer = $10

Becks, Beck's Dark, Heffe Weise, & Spaten Optimator.

Can anyone who's been there recently confirm or deny this info?

MUCH obliged :drinking1

We have an ADR for Biergarten in late May (at 4:30, which is great, since I didn't know about the show times), and we're really looking forward to this meal. We love German food and the atmosphere looks wonderful.

Reading this thread makes me a little nervous about sitting with other guests, though. We're typically a little on the shy side... friendly, but quiet. I wasn't worried about it before, but now I am. From some of the responses, it seems like people expect the guests sitting at the same table to be very boisterous and talkative with them and if they're not, it diminishes the experience.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this something that should concern me? Like I said, we're very friendly but just not usually very talkative with strangers most of the time.

We went in Sept. '08, and will definitely go again on our next trip! The other family at the table was friendly (but certainly not boisterous), and had a very cute baby with them in addition to their other kids and the grandparents. I ended up ordering the "man-sized" beer as the server put it, but no one else did. It was the Optimator (one of my favorite German beers), if I remember correctly, and it was great! Somehow, I finished the beer at the same time as the others at the table with the ordinary pints. :D

We all really loved the food, but then we eat at the local German restaurants fairly often, so we mostly knew what to expect. There were a lot of dishes that I had never tried before due to the sheer quantity of selections, but I can see that a vegetarian would have a very difficult time eating here.

The entertainment was fun to watch, and all of the kids out there certainly seems to love getting up and dancing on the dance floor. Now that we have one of our own (probably two by the time of our next trip), I'm sure that we will be even more into the entertainment and dancing.
