Tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly about Biergarten.

Right now we have ADRs for Akershus for breakfast. We have been there before and it is hard to screw up breakfast. I had mentioned to DH on previous trips that I thought he would like Biergarten, he is a true carnivore. This time when I was telling him about ADRs he asked about going to the "Germany place" for lunch on the EPCOT day for a change. Here is the deal. I looked over the menu and it seems like a WHOLE LOT of MEAT. I am not a vegitarian, far from it. But I am also not a eat the whole cow for dinner kind of person.

He usually asks for so little when I am planning, so I feel really guilty for not booking this for him. Is it something that I would like?

Just for reference, I love 9 Dragon, Boma, and Crystal Palace. I know they are different cusine but just a few that I like to help you see what my preferences.

We really enjoyed Biergarten. We went for the first time this past Jan, and had a great experience. There is a lot of different varieties to choose from, and the atmosphere is wonderful! I would not count it as one of my absolute favorite restaurants at WDW, but I would definitely go back!

:thumbsup2 Very thoughtful!!!

:confused3 OOOps, he called your bluff?

Seriously, the Octoberfest has a variety of foods, you won't have to eat a whole cow (maybe a whole PIG, but not a cow).

I'm sure you will enjoy the atmosphere at the very least. Besides, it's only lunch... let him have meat and beer for an hour. :rolleyes1

My DH loves Biergarten so we eat there every visit. I haven't been loving the food there recently but I always find something to eat. The atmosphere there is great and the band is a lot of fun.

I think I will go ahead and book it, if I don't find anything I like we are in the WS I can walk a few feet and find something else.

Beer? :rolleyes1 I didn't think about beer. :rolleyes1 He is not so much a beer person but I wouldn't turn down a nice cold stein full. ;) Am I right to assume that adult beverages are not part of the cost of the buffet?

when we went to Biergarten, we had salmon, and pork and chicken and alot of sausages. I dont care for the sausages but I was very happy with the selections. I LOVED the potato leek soup.....never had it before but tried it on our "tablemates, suggestions" and it was fantastic. They had different salads and the desserts were fantastic.....I think you will find enough there to be satisfied and not eat a cow..
Have a good time!!

We go to Biergarten nearly every trip. We've recently started to go at lunch as opposed to dinner and like it just as well and it saves us a few dollars, too.

You are correct, beer would be in addition to the cost of the buffet.

Ok so I don't want to be annoying by always posting pictures,but....here are some pics from Biergarten. Enjoy...

I don't think you will be disappointed. It is one of our favorites too. Nice variety of German salads also the red cabbage and sauerkraut, are alternates from all the meat.

Traditionally Biergarten was one of our favorite places to eat in Epcot. However this past June we ate there and the food was so absolutely AWFUL that we swore we would never eat there again. Both DH and I were shocked at the poor quality and awful taste of everything. Maybe it was a fluke on that one day but I'm not willing to risk my dining points or my cash to experience the nastiness again. :)

^^ That's too bad.. Hopefully a fluke!

Biergarten is a must do for us, so much so we are making it one of our three OOP meals!

As you saw in the pics, there are many varieties of salads, and I didn't see a picture of our favorite.. Spaetzle! It is pastaish.. size is a little bigger than rice you can have it plain like my family or with a brown gravy.

I really like it there, even sitting with strangers during your meal is fun, if you get nice people!

We skipped the Biergarten for years thinking that we would not like it. However, we tried it last year and now it is one of our favorites. The food is great and we loved the atomsphere.

My husband is the same as yours! We went last December and he LOVED it LOVED it. It was worth going just for him! None of the food was BAD, but it was too bland for me and overall the meats were more fatty (sausages) than what I care for. Eat a big breakfast and go watch your hubby have fun!

We ate there once and none of us liked it very much. To be fair, apparently I really hate German food. I'm not a big meat person, I hate sausage. The other stuff did not appeal to me either. I'm pretty sure I mostly ate the mac and cheese.

We loved Biergarten! There were many selections on the buffet, the entertainment was fun and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. My kids ate more at this restaurant than any other restaurant. They can only handle so much chicken nuggets and pizza - my kids would rather have "regular people food" and they enjoyed the chicken, roast pork, sausages and mac & cheese.

Probably the only caution I have about Biergarten is that it's not a quiet restaurant. It's festive. It's not a place to have an intimate conversation across the table. But it's very fun and festive!

We went last June also and loved it! The schnitzel was very good. We will definitely go back. Good variety, even my 9 year old loved it and he is a picky eater.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for the pictures. I will be sure to share them with DH. Thank you everyone for your input. Please keep your opinions coming. Each person has had something different to add, and the more info I have the better prepared I will be. I guess like everyone else here I am a big planner person. DH thinks it is so funny that I will spend months planning things and then when we get there the first thing I do is ask him, "What do you want to do?"

I have to explain to him that I plan the meals and times, resorts and location, which park on which day, and maybe even special shows, events, parades, etc. but I don't have a minute by minute schedule. I have to be a little flexible. ;)

We tried this restaurant for the fist time last week. It was so much fun. The food was alright and the service was good. I would totally go here again. I had the 4 flights of beer and Dh had the liter. SO MUCH FUN!!!

I would not say the food was awful or nasty a few weeks ago for dinner, but I was disappointed at how incredibly dry the chicken schnitzel was, and I used to love that stuff.

Another consideration is that if you are going with a party of fewer than 8, you will be seated with another party. Never been a big deal when I go with friends but I won't eat there alone. The odds of getting a table with folks who are resentful of being stuck with a solo diner are greater than I'd like.

There are plenty of salads and veggies for non meat eaters. If you eat birds there is the aforementioned chicken schnitzel if it's cooked correctly, and roast chicken.
