Biergarten - worth a second try?

Dh and I went last March which was our first time dining there and we wondered why in the world we had been to Disney 6x before finding this gem! We loved it completely. The food was terrific, the atmosphere lively and fun and the show and dancing entertaining. Heck, I'd go just for the wine flight and pretzel bread!

We dont like it either, but a lot of people do. We decided to give it another try last October, and it was worse than we remembered.

We always hit the Biergarten. I will admit, though, that it probably isn't for everyone.

We like it because...
1) We love the food. It is our type of food.
2) My wife's parents are German immigrants, and I would generally consider myself to be German. Without taking our young kids to Germany, it is the next best thing I guess, lol.
3) Although the entertainment isn't GREAT, it is entertaining enough. It definitely catches the kids' attention.
4) I always down at least one beer. After one of those big beers, I would enjoy anything.
5) It seems casual, so I don't really care if my kids make noise.

I can see people NOT liking it because....
1) It is kind of dark.
2) It isn't very fancy at all. In fact, I don't think the place has changed since I was a kid.
3) If you don't like German food..................
4) Sitting with other people can be uncomfortable. I hate that part of it.
5) You may or may not hit the show. And you may or may not find the show entertaining.
6) It is pretty expensive.

We have always been huge Biergarten fans, however; we tried it this past trip and it was horrid. The lovely potato and leek soup had been replaced with greasy sausage soup. The shnitzel was dried, tough and chewy, the pork roast had to be chewed for 10 minutes minimum before a safe attempt at swallowing was feasible, and the veal loaf was reminiscent of spam.

To top off a terrible meal, we had hostile tablemates. They even asked the waitress if they HAD to sit with us, they wanted to sit alone. Think I'll skip my once favorite restaurant for a while.

Had lunch here several years ago. The show was very entertaining and we weren't cramped for space as others have indicated. However, no one in my family liked the food so we haven't been back.

Its always worth giving a place a second try. Any restaurant can have an off night. Its when you get multiple occurrences that its time to go elsewhere.

it's on my never again list too. I have friends that love it and my parents love it, me, not so much
