Biergarten thoughts?

I was thinking of trying this bad boy during our June '09 trip. It seemed to score pretty well in the UG's survey (91% :thumbsup2 ).

Is it kid-friendly as far as food is concerned? I saw rotisserie chicken, which is nice. Are there other such "non-wurst" items?

Also, I checked Allears and couldn't really tell if Biergarten was included in the holiday surcharge list. As a buffet, I would suspect that it is, but I didn't see it listed.

TIA.

I took my girls when they were 5 & 7 and again when they were 15 & 17. They enjoyed it both times. The food is family friendly and the entertainment is delightful, although a bit loud. I would recommend trying it. The roast was done so perfect....juicy and fell apart. I remember the potatoes being yummy too. Sorry I can't remember everything else they had but we really enjoyed it.

I liked it when we went in Jan. 2007 and have it on the list of places for our 2009 trip. My sister and I are both pretty picky and we found lots to eat. That was the one restuarant that I didn't get a picture of the food at. The chicken was really, really good. It was very moist. And the carrots were also really yummy. And the show is lots of fun, especially for the kids since they can get up and dance.

It is a must do for every trip we make. The kids love it. My DD4 is the one who always requests it. The food is good, the show is good. I think everyone should go at least once.

We loved the atmosphere and the show, but the food, so-so. I'm not picky at all so I found plenty of stuff I liked, but the rest of my family (6 others) left hungry! My kids wouldn't eat anything but the roast - I guess it was a little too far from American and Mexican food for them!! Wouldn't even eat the potatoes which were yummy!:sad2:

I did get a free birthday cake though! Yay Me!!

Sold!

I think it's important to try new places, so this sounds like a winner.

Can anyone who's gone within the last month confirm about the holiday pricing?

This is one of our must do's every other year (we take turns with Rose & Crown). Our boys used to love it when they traveled with us--they loved the food and the entertainment. DH and I enjoy it now without them for the beer, the food and the entertainment.

It is one of our most fav places to go. Ton of pics and review from our March trip in my signature...there was a holiday price when we went the end of March first part of April

The food is always awesome and the atmosphere is a lot of fun

It is part of the holiday surcharge. You could do what we did. Went to lunch during the surcharge period. It's the same price with the surcharge as the non surcharge dinner price. We got the latest lunch seating and they were bringing out some of the few dinner only dishes while we were there (there's just a few that are different). The band is still there as well.

Here is the current band schedule (check http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/ before you go, though).

Daily at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00 & 8:05pm
Length of show: 25 minutes

I like to get there in between performances so I can order drinks while it's quiet, then eat during the show and settle the bill when it's quiet again.

If you can't finish your beer, they have to go cups from your server.

The Biergarten is great. It is by no means just sausages and such. :)

We love Biergarten!! Just went on 4th of July weekend. I am a very picky eater and don't like a lot of "different" foods and I found lots of things I liked. They do have the chicken and their mac and cheese is really good too!! And the show they do is a lot of fun. I think the kids will love it!!

Thanks for posthing this. We have been wondering the same thing about kid foods here. DH and I love German food, however kids aren't that adventurous. It sounds like if they have mac and cheese, then surely the kids can come up with something to eat.

Yes, it is a buffet, so it is subject to the holiday price increase.

We had a lot of fun at the Biergarten. DW minored in german so it was fun for her to go soak up some disney-fied German culture. The KartoffelKlosse were awesome (potato dumplings) as well as the Sauerbraten. The atmosphere is fun and worth it just for that. Buffet, something to be desired, but yummy. Beer is great too.

Done deal. The lunch idea may be the way to go since we're going in June, and everybody knows the entire month of June is a holiday. On Neptune. Maybe.

Love the Biergarten... Reminds me of the German places I have by me... Big fan of German cuisine and while this can sometimes be hit or miss I love it....

Whenever we go to WDW and go to the parks, we always try and hit up the Biergarten..

Remember that the kids can eat from anywhere on the buffet. Some things that might not make them turn up their noses:

Mixed green salad
Macaroni salad
Chicken (with bone)
Roasted potatoes
Cheese spaetzle (so glad they have this as the plain stuff is so bland)
Mini frankfurter sausages
Macaroni and cheese

And they have lots of sauces so the kids can dose their food.

Oh yeah - I'm repeating what *I* ate there!

Biergarten is just a great time! The food is great and so is the entertainment. Plenty of options for the kids too! We always do it on our last night.
