DBf and I love Biergarten, but both times we've been, we've been seated with families that didn't want to talk. We don't really like worrying about making small talk during dinner, anyway. We also usually get ignored by our servers because we're a small party overshadowed by the larger parties.

My question is, has anyone had any luck getting a table to themselves? We've been thinking that if we go for a late lunch during an off period, we might get lucky.

I don't think they have small tables. We were only there once many years ago and did not like the "group" seating thing either.
Hopefully others will have more info for you.

We love the group seating...we are also a party of two and have no problem getting attention from our server when there is a large party on the table also..in fact, the last time we were there..the large party were the shy people..lol.

We got them to open up though..and everyone had a blast.
Just start asking people questions about themselves..people love to talk about themselves!

DH & I have been there during slow lunch periods and they still seat you with others. They leave some tables empty. A group behind ours asked about being seated alone and they were politely told no. I guess it can't hurt to ask though!
Hope you get better dinner companions next visit, it really make a big difference.
:D

One of our problems is that we just don't like being seated with strangers in general - we like to have private meal conversations and we can't have that when we're seated with strangers. Even if they're talkative and friendly, we'd still rather sit by ourselves during a meal. During shows and such, sure, we'll converse with others, but I guess we're just anti-social when we're eating.

Thanks for the replies, though, guys

I dislike the seating at Biergarten for that very reason. My family is a little introverted I guess and we don't feel comfortable eating and making conversation with strangers. We tried Biergarten last year and were seated with a really unpleasant couple. The wife kept nagging her husband because he was trying things she had already tried and told him not to eat because she didn't like it herself. She was also complaining about EVERYTHING to the waitress (including the temperature of the dining room.)

Anyway, I don't understand why they don't pull the tables apart. Germans aren't known for being the friendliest people anyway so why force the community seating? :p (I'm German so I can say these things!! :teeth: :teeth: )

We have experienced some of the same with others not wishing to chat while seated at the Biergarden. My daughter always seems to get people to talk. We always visit the Biergarden (its a must do for Lunch with us) and make the best of it either way. We actually like having a conversation especially when the people around us are making it their first visit to the Biergarden.

If anyone is there the week of July 14 - 20, look us up. Sit with us, We promise we won't be silent! LOL
